1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD Struggles

May 28, 2022

    1. I struggle with having to remove my doll’s head whenever I want to change out his eyes! Pulling up and twisting the S-hook takes so much energy already, I can’t imagine starting the restringing processes I’m reading about. I’ve twisted my index finger and thumb multiple times hahhh so if anyone has an easier method with pulling up the S hook to remove the head, I’m all ears…

i thought this was my life until my Soom boy came and theirs is the headcap holding the brain which I never have to touch again after snapping the brain into place! :XD: I wish I could figure out an easier way for the other boy

    2. loop a piece of ribbon through the hook to have something better to pull on :thumbup

    3. I haven't tried it with a ribbon, but for me the ring part of a keychain worked well, so that's an option too.

    4. I use a crochet hook but I only have tiny dolls so maybe they are easier.

    5. For head pulling strugglers, I want to share the best BJD tool I ever invested in in this hobby. It makes it pain-free and ridiculously easy.

    6. I have a puller whose hook tip was completely bent after the first few times! Thanks for linking the Luts one, it looks a lot more sturdier!

    7. Wigs and getting decent photos are my main problems. I'm pretty bad at styling wigs in general and because I'm half-blind my photos always come out blurry. :(

    8. The Luts puller is amazing! It was in my first batch of purchases and after I passed it along to a new owner, I really missed it. The Volks puller works well too. There's a small and a large size available.

I feel you on that! My pictures are really hit and miss but something that's been helpful to me is taking the time to snap multiple pictures at the same angle. Chances are one of them will be salvageable!

    9. YES! Before I put eyelashes on my boy I thought it was going to be easy.... It was honestly the hardest and most frustrating part of his whole faceup-

    10. I've never removed the whole head to change the eyes, just the head cap. Your dolls must be different than mine. I really struggle with removing the head, so thankfully I can change the eyes without doing that.

I'm gonna have to get that tool mentioned above. That would make things a lot easier. Another tool which is invaluable when restringing or other times when you need a "3rd hand" is a pair of forcepts, also known as a surgical clamp. You can get them from medical supply sites or even amazon.

    11. @SaltedPretzel Yup! Take several of the same photo and hope that one is less blurry than the others. I eventually get a good one. lol
