It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. BJDs based off of Fairy tales/Folkore/Any story?

Nov 17, 2008

    1. I've seen a version of this, and I cannot remember the mold, but I'd love a little guy that looked like The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery... He'd have to have his rose, though. Soo cute.

I'd also love to see a series of dolls based on Garth Nix's Old Kingdom Series. My girl shares her secondary name with the main character in the first book, Sabriel, but I'd love to see a Sabriel doll. Touchstone, and Mogget would be awesome. I should try to make a Mogget... Hmmm..

    2. It would have to be the youngest boy from King of the Golden Mountain.

    3. yes! i was thinking of trying to make an Ozma dress, someday. The illustrations in those books are amazing. John R. Neill is my hero...seriously, a Patchwork Girl, a Woozy, and Polychrome? I would die of happiness.

    4. Oooh, I love fairy tales!! I like so many, especially Russian and Asian ones, it would be really hard to choose just one. But I am making outfits so that my dolls can be characters from the stories I like. Right now I am making and outfit so that my CP Soo Dark Human can be the girl from the Russian story "Golden Hair". It's so fun!

    5. One of my personal faves too, this subject... :-)

The Woodling Faeries (Yoshi & Boneka Kayu) are based of the fairytale The Whisper Wood (by Joan Stephan). And our latest release Deer Faith, the Woodling Kantjil is based of the ancient Indonesian fables of Kantjil (the little mouse deer) that often plays the part which the cunning Fox has in European Folktales and Fables.

"The wood ring on Yoshi's forehead (and belly) are the only physical reminders that she too was ones made from wood, just like her little wooden piggy doll friend Boneka Kayu"

We hope to be creating a lot more fantasy & fairytale based creatures in the near future!

    6. Ooh, a Sabriel doll would be awesome! And Touchstone, because he's cool. X3 I dunno how you could do Mogget, though. And then I would have to get a Lirael doll too, because I like her almost more than Sabriel (almost). XD

For other stories, I dunno if there are any modern novels I'd really want to get any characters from. Maybe if I was rich and could afford any doll I wanted. XD

    7. Pinocchio! I mean, yes, he was a doll, so that;s a bit obvious.
But (forgive me, I've forgotten the character names) I'd also LOVE to have one of the puppet master, Gipetto, The Donkey-boy and the Fairy :3
      AND THE CRICKET. :3

The puppet master would be about 80cm, Gipetto would be 60, Donkey boy and Pinocchio would be 45cm, The cricket would be a puki and the Fairy would be about 27cm.
      Epicwin,myes?

    8. Characters from her Paradys series would be awesome!

I know it's not popular among doll lovers, but I'd LOVE to see some photostories of how our fairytales were BEFORE Perrault re-arranged them. I'll be damned if all my daughter grows up seeing is "happily ever after" and sees marriage as the 'ultimate goal' that the disney movies depict.

Don't even get me started, lol.

    9. I think my Soom Spinel is going to be an interesting one... Hes been inspired by the Anglo Saxon inspired psuedo-mythology in The Lost Crown game.
Im calling him Grindle, who was a dragon who was protecting the crown of the game, he was sort of a symbol of the town of Saxton itself. I dont typically imagine him as a dragon, but rather based on the look and style of the game itself, the gothic and historical style of the towns people such as the caretakers etc.
Of course, the name Grindle and some other parts of the game are taken/made up from Anglo Saxon folklore. Im really into using false icons ;)

    10. I've not gotten any myth inspired dolls, but book inspired ones certainly. My dolls Eleusis, Jesst, Kirlll, Batoxxx and Sahor are based from the characters of my favourite book series. If anyone recognises the series that I'm referring to...a big hug would be coming your way as practically no one seems to know it. The descriptions of the characters though are rather vague, so they really are my own interpretations of said characters

I do also have some Dark Crystal inspired dolls...but I cannot say any more about them so I'll shut up now.

    11. Id be interested to know where the names come from :) they sound interesting. If they are based on vague descriptions of the characters are they your interpretation of what you think they would be like?

    12. well uh...not exactly a fairytale but my little alex is based off a clockwork orange....<<

    13. Oh, Snow White and Rose Red, my two favorite sisters...I actually started a re-telling of this story that I never finished and my girls were Rowan and Nola. Hmmmm...maybe dolls would be an inspiration to finish my tale?

    14. ...
      That is win.
Novel or film, though? (I'm a book nerd, sorry, but either way, photostories plz.)

One of my boys now, Shock, has a backstory that's in part based off of Child ballads and the like, and one that isn't strictly such (The Croppy Boy, I think?) and he'll hopefully wind up in doll form.

    15. A beauty and the beast doll or somthing from the egyptian tales would be good A osires and isis doll would be wonderful

    16. ^^And if book, is it the British release or the American release?
(There's supposed to be 21 chapters, but int he American release, the 21st chapter was originally discarded. Though they brought it back in some revival version including a note from the author...He was like "Lol. I didn't want this to be the one I was remembered by. I don't even like it that much. o.o;"

    17. THAT, right there, is pure win. Absolutely. I hope you can sing the song.

I came quite close to having a Tam Lin doll (as in the infamous Scottish folk hero/rapist), but he got overruled by my incoming angel. He's still a possibility, though!

(On an aside, my sister and I dream of having the entire Rogues' Gallery from Batman in doll form, but I doubt we'd ever do anything about it!)

    18. Oh, you know what I forgot? It would be AWESOME to have dolls based on some of the characters from Fables. X3 Snow White, Rose Red, Little Boy Blue, Bigby Wolf. X3 Maybe a few of the others too, but they would be the main ones.

    19. OH. MY. GOD. I thought I was the only one who had played that game...! (Well, not literally, haha, I just didn't know anyone else who had even heard of it!) I jumped out my seat when I read this, haha! I freakin' love that game. Awesome name-sake!
