1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJDs sculpts influenced by celebrities?

Jun 12, 2015

    1. When in search for the perfect doll I tend to really observe the facial features of each doll, comparing noses, mouths, ect. and in my search I've noticed many dolls (especially IpleHouse) resemble beautiful celebrities.

For example, I think IpleHouse EID Carina looks so much like Janet Montgomery AKA Mary Sibley from the TV show Salem, also, IpleHouse Jessica looks like either Nina Dobrev or Scarlett Johansson, depending on her makeup.

Has anyone else thought this, and if so, what dolls do you think look like celebrities?

    2. Iplehouse Vera is Nicole Kidman in resin.
Actually, Iple even asked their customers about which celebs they'd like to see dolls based on, so ... expect more look-alikes from them ;)

    3. The newest iple girl is imo pretty obviously Chloe Moretz. It's her mouth for sure. Also, I was looking at my Astrid "Pamela" and I just keep thinking "Sandra Bullock" in any up-angle where you can see the jawline, chin, nose....

the he thing I really like about iplehouse especially is that the angle almost can completely change the face of the doll. It's like magic! :D

    4. I think this can easily happen since many BJDs have facial features similar to humans :D
I dream of finding one that looks like me haha (not that im a celebrity :P)

    5. Well, personally, I think Migidoll Ell couldn't be much closer to resembling Justin Bieber unless he was a minimee sculpt! Especially in profile. My Ell has a minor eye mod to make it even closer, but the rest is original sculpt:

A lot of it also has to do with how the doll is styled. An artist might have a certain person in mind while creating the sculpt, but what the owner chooses to do with it could be very far from the original thoughts. For example, my sister once owned a Gwen Stefani minimee head, but turned it into a male doll with long black hair and a masculine faceup. No one ever correctly guessed what that doll was originally meant to be, although with the right faceup, wig and eyes, it would have been a very good Gwen resemblance.

    6. Holy crap! The profile is like EXACT!

    7. Iplehouse dolls are generally known to resemble famous people and like what Jany said, Iplehouse did a customer survey to ask people what famous people appeal to them. I definitely put in my two cents worth.
      Anyways...
      Luo - Brad Pitt
      Aaliyah - Rihanna
      Lawrence - Jonathan Rhys Meyers
      Bane - Luke Evans
      Vera - Nicole Kidman
      Crow - David Gandy

    8. Luo is Brad Pitt!? I never. They certainly didn't catch his smile!
Though looking at his pictures on yahoo, he can transform himself in anything.

    9. I never realised it :D wow i can see the resemblance in some of the contours of the sculpts!!!

    10. Soul Doll has their Lee Junki sculpt which is officially licensed by the real actor's company :D
Also, I feel like a lot of South Korean companies get some slight inspiration from their celebs. Or they could just be following the korean trend which the celebs also follow I don't know lol. Either way, you could build your own kpop group / kdrama with Sadol and Switch's dolls xD

    11. there are a lot more.... for example Felix. I saw a pic of him with longer here where he looked like Diego Boneta- he played in the "Rock of ages" movie. And the Bibiane picture from Iplehouse with the red hair... she reminds me of Marcia Cross (Bree van de Kamp- Desperate Housewives)
but think Jessica is more like Lana del Ray

but the funnies was Iplehouse Roger... Ahston Kutcher Chin ;-)
