It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Blank Certificate with Doll from Dealer?

Jul 9, 2021

    1. Hey Everyone,

My most recent doll (that I waited nearly a year for!) came recently from Dolk US. Generally I've had good experience with them even though I know their service can be hit or miss.

When she arrived, the Certificate of Authenticity was not filled in with any information. Like, it had line items for what should be there and an image of the doll - but no numbers or signature or anything.

I reached out to Dolk to as them to see if the company could provide a certificate with information included - and they said nope! They said I could always verify the legitimacy of my doll by reaching out to them with the order number included in a note.

While this is true for *me*... I don't feel that it's sufficient if I considered selling her. But maybe other people have thoughts -- and I'm trying to figure out how hard I should push on this to try to get a person to simply take the steps to fill out this certificate like it should have already been done/mail it.

Would you be hesitant to purchase a doll / consider it a big reduction in value - if you were to only be receiving a blank COA and order confirmation number with a doll you were wanting to purchase secondhand?

      Thanks!

    2. First which doll and which company you bought from? Perhaps this company style of coa to be blank just put a number ?

Personally wouldnt mind buying a doll with coa blank as long as seller have good feedback and sort of order info or prove :3nodding:

    3. Maybe try asking the company if this is normal? Some companies only have a card and no number.

I don’t think it would hurt resell value that much. Some wools don’t even care about CoA at all. I definitely own some dolls without-some never had one, others are old dolls that have lost their CoA along the way.

    4. I’ve received blank CoAs for dolls that I’ve ordered directly from the company before… I can’t remember which ones of the top of my head. But blank CoAs aren’t unheard of and I don’t think they’ll affect a doll’s resell value.

    5. Seconding what namika said, I received blank certificates before too :sweat
Technically the company, not Dolk, should take care of that so I agree that you should reach out to the company directly.

    6. Plenty of dolls come with blank CoAs (no number), plenty of older ones had no CoA at all, and plenty of scam artists fake up CoAs with numbers and signatures thanks to people posting the CoA on social media when they get a new doll. Honestly, newer people tend to put way too much weight on a little piece of paper that doesn't really do much of anything, if you ask me. There's much better ways to verify if a doll's legitimate than an easily replicated bit of cardstock, with or without a number or signature on it. If you have concerns, check in the discussion thread with other owners of that company's dolls, or look for box opening photos that show the CoA (like I said, people overshare them); it's extremely likely there's nothing unusual about that CoA at all, and Dolk certainly didn't swap it out with a blank one for some reason.

    7. I've always thought that a blank CoA is a normal thing as even companies send CoAs without any info filled sometimes. .__.

    8. Yes, I agree with everyone. I have received certificates that were blank and I simply wrote in the dolls specific information myself so that I knew which doll it applied to. If you are looking to sell the doll down the line, I would simply make a copy of your receipt/order info through Dolk and include that with the certificate and the doll. :3nodding:

    9. Thanks everyone for your input on this. I feel better about it now for sure :)
I'll print out my order confirmation & just stick it in the box for future. All your assuaging of my concerns are much appreciated!

    10. Personally, I would print out the sales document and staple it to the COA.

    11. I had this happen to me with my first bjd :sweat I don't intent to sell her at the moment, but if I ever do, I'm glad to know I can prove she is legit even without a CoA.
