Blue Fairy Pocket Fairy Discussion part 2

Dec 18, 2012

    1. Mitten's wig was actually a pukipuki ballerina one from fairyland - I got her before the bluefairy one was available. It was definitely too big for a puki wig but I don't know if I'd risk buying one specifically. I agree about wigs in updos - much easier to cope with - facets by Marcia has a few in size 4 - there's the halo and hope and one more which I can't recall. The size 4 (not 4-5) fits PF perfectly - Ophelia on the right in my photo is wearing a Hannah from facets. TBH I have had issues with every PF wig I got from bluefairy (only 3 but none fit spectacularly). I am pretty sure someone earlier in this thread did have that wig though.

The dress might fit - - the PFs are a scooch narrower in the shoulders than the persons. Here's a nudie comparison pic of Mitten next to a Pixxie and Tiny Delf 20 and of her next to a person.

I love Clodagh, which is funny because I used to not like PF with teeth at all! I think Maeve my TF May converted me. I was so lucky to get the opportunity to bring Clodagh home just before Christmas. She was my ultimate grail doll, and while I miss Mitten and Ophelia I know that they've both gone to the perfect homes (plus I get to have regular play dates with Ophelia still, so it's not so bad!). I probably will add another PF back at some point, I would kind of like a WS girl as their WS is so pretty.

I also have to say that I'm always pleasantly surprised with my blue fairy dolls - they always look better than on the website. I think those extremely clear closeups are a bit unnerving because the head is so much more magnified than it is irl. I was so nervous when I waited for Mitten as the only photos of Kitty I'd seen were on the BF site, but I was taken with her from the moment I opened the box.

I think I'll have to dig out Drusilla's gotall shoes when I get home and try them on Clodagh. Dru will not be at all impressed but then she's never very happy anyway so it doesn't make much difference!

    2. Thank you ,honeythorpe. I have ordered a set of tiny self hands in white and normal to see if they will fit with anyone of my small girls.
[IMG] MiniMay is just a little bit more yellow than the pepper body she is on here. If the tiny delf resin doesn't match I think I might get her a pepper body of his/her own.

    3. Oh! I didn't realize Mitten and Ophelia were gone! but it is nice to know Ophelia can come around for a playdate. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do for the grail. And thank you so much for the comparison shots -- they always answers questions I have and some I didn't even know to ask. I've relied on your photo references too many times to count in more than a few threads and I'm always grateful for them. Thanks for being so generous with your time and info. :)

I'm a bit shocked at how close PFs are to Pixxies in body type and size, I never would have guessed, and I laughed out loud when I saw her next to a Person. Goodness, I hope they didn't hear, but those giant egg shaped noggins and nefarious hands are soo ... contrary... next to more proportioned dolls. Guess they won't be sharing much, especially pants! (which will make the Persons happy). I was surprised too at the size difference with the LYSPs, wow, I did think they would be closer. All this to say, I'm delighted even more with the PocketFairy Sugar bodies. Love the elegant long lean lines.

Finally got through the first 48 pages of discussion and this one here -- it seems wigs are very hit or miss with BF since way back. Too bad for the Ballerina. I think I'll stick with the cheap choice option for now and expect to find something else later. I have a Lati White wig and a 1mim mohair made for a pukipuki to try. That's always fun -- digging out the box and seeing what works :)
And thanks for reminding me that those are extreme closeups on the face-ups -- some of those lower lashes scare me, lol! Minimay and Yoko, I think it's down to those two. Like you, I'm not usually a fan of teeth but hers make her look a bit older which I like. Yoko I've seen look both mature and babyish and I can't quite tell if it's face-up or context. I think Minimay will win out. I've given myself until Friday to decide. :)

Beatrice.W -- That's a really lovely sweater set! Is it lace weight, top down? The scale (and color) suit her beautifully.

    4. Icicle ,thank you ,yes it is lace weight and knitted top down.
[IMG] My two oldest girls, but new to me :).
Their wigs are Mudoll ,the dark is a dandy cut 3-4" and the blond is a brownie wig without the metall cap. Both fit well with silicone head caps (size 3-4" from Mimiwoo.

    5. Beatrice That was good thinking getting the hands! Not such an expensive way to see if it will suit. I love the TD20 body - the body itself is almost identical to PF sugar and the hands are so poseable Your little girls look so sweet. I love the rosy cheeks on your yoko. Is that the original faceup?

icicle you know I would never dare laugh at a persons body because I think my ankles would get kicked by a very stroppy Drusilla but yes definitely no sharing to pants! Mitten is wearing Drusilla's top in the pics above (the one with the bee) you can see that it's a bit short in the arms, but it kind of fits! Yes it was a wrench letting Mitten and Ophelia go - I knew that Didi was my friend's grail doll and I had always felt a touch guilty that I had her when although I loved her, she wasn't my grail. So when I was lucky enough to find two of my grail dolls in December, I felt the right thing to do was pass that on to other people. I've been trying to refine my rather large doll family so that my grail girls get more love and photographs but we've been rather lacking on the photograph front this year.

    6. Honeythorpe I think so ,I traded for her on flickr so I don't know for sure but it looks like the other pictures on flickr of dolls with the same wig .She came nude but I think she would have had the same outfit as MiniMay in the picture above.

    7. She's really sweet. I wish they would still do that faceup on Yoko. The blushy cheeks are so sweet. I know they changed it some time ago so you're lucky to have her!

    8. Yes ,I really am :)

    9. Oh my goodness... ordered late Tuesday night, waited for email that didn't come, so paid through Paypal myself on Wednesday morning... and she's already shipped? -- with a working tracking number??!!

      wow.

I can see where this could get addicting. Imagine, a bjd company that delivers on demand. I LOVE BF!

    10. Congratulations icicle! Bluefairy are super efficient and ship really quickly! Even limited dolls and preorders tend to ship out fast, I only collect BF dolls so I am used to their excellent service, I am always shocked when I hear how long people have to wait for other companies.

Did you decided to go with Yoko or Minimay? I think Minimay is adorable, Clodagh belonging to Honeythorpe is the only Minimay I've seen up close, and she's even cuter in real life!

I've got baked Remmy myself, I should take some photos of him outside while it's still sunny here!

    11. Oh please do take some photos and share! I love visual aids :)

      Thanks, I actually ordered.... Fei...
I like a little attitude and was afraid Yoko would be too sweet and lonely on her own. I think she will be next, once she has a friend to welcome her and draw her out a little. There are so few Fei owner photos that I was intrigued by her grumpy little pout and critical eyebrows. Lots of Minimay out there, and I can see why, though I do think she looks best in baked. In all honesty, I think I could have stared at them all for days and not been able to make up my mind, so I decided to go on impulse -ha!

I can see why Bluefairy has a loyal following -- awesome turnaround, a simple, spare but sophisticated beauty, elegant clothing. I tried Fairyland for the posing but in the end, it wasn't enough. I like slim lines and small heads. I'm excited to see and play with her -- and no waiting ... wow... it's like Christmas!

    12. Congratulations Icicle! Looking forward to seeing some photos of your Fei. Bluefairy are amazingly fast, my Minimay was shipped after only a few days, they are such a brilliant company with beautiful dolls. I started out with Fairyland but my heart is definitely with bluefairy!

Fei! She's perfect. I've been waiting for a doll just like this, she feels just right. Love the long legs, delicate hands, and pretty face.
The wig is difficult to keep on, just as Honeythorpe predicted, but I've got another on order from CanCan that will hopefully fit a bit better.
And there are lots of shoes --and clothes -- here that fit. I'm really excited that these mary janes work with the socks.
      yay!

    14. I love her, she has the cutest pouty little face. Are they her default eyes?

A pic of Talula outside now that the weather is finally warming up.

    15. Oh, you have spring! Talula looks sweet amidst the petals.

Thank you. Yes, they are her default eyes. I don't look forward to changing them any time soon the way the headcap is attached so I'm glad I like them, lol!

    16. Yes we have a big blossom tree in the garden and all those petals keep finding their way into the house. Luckily they are very pretty when on the tree!

I changed Talula's, her defaults were blue and they didn't suit her. I found that the cap hangs loosely which isn't too bad but it can be difficult finding the right way to put back on again. It was actually easier to change her eyes than my tiny fairy who has a tighter head cap. I like your default eyes, they do look perfect with her hair.

    17. I'll trade your petals for my snow, lol! We still have a just little left but my kid always seems to find it, slushy mud and all :)

I like Talula's dark eyes too. I think with tiny heads, dark eyes work really well with dark hair. Did she come with the blues ones? Those look pretty in the BF site photos, especially with the lighter blond hair.

Fei's head cap is quite tight. I had trouble getting it back on without pinching a finger. Luckily, her stringing everywhere else is very nice, hardly kicky at all, and she poses rather more easily than I expected...

    18. Both Fei and Talula are very sweet! In my ever evolving doll family plans a sugar Yoko and a pepper Fei is among the first I wish to bring home :).
For the wigs to stay on I followed an advice from Midolls about silicone wig caps, they really do help. Even my older Yoko and MiniMays wigs stay on with the help of them.
Here is a blurry evening picture of May and Taro ,May has a wig I couldn't force to stay on anyones head but with the wig cap it stayed when she tipped over :)

    19. icicle yay congrats!! see miss the thread for just a few days and you go from not even deciding to having the doll at home. I swear BlueFairy will spoil you for any other company with their efficiency! I think there are a lot of bjd companies that could learn a lesson or two from their business model *cough*lati*cough*. It's nice to see another sculpt too. How nice for her that she came home to clothes and shoes - those little mjs look sweet with the socks. I agree with you about slim lines and small heads. I wish there were more tinies with these proportions.

jupeycat Talula looks like she's enjoying the spring. We are having the most horrid autumn - rain and wind and dark gloomy skies for weeks. No venturing outside for photos and too dark to take indoors ones :(

Can I just say, it makes me so happy that more people are discovering the pocket fairy love. I think they're so under-appreciated.

    20. Lol! Yes, I moved quickly and BF moved almost as fast. There's certainly a different feel when you don't have to wait a few months (or several...) for the excitement to continue. She's here! She's now! She's fun!
      She's.... blonde??

Maybe not forever but it's a fun look with the fancy Pixxie dress -- it does fit! Look out Pixxies...

.... Is it bad I've already gone back to look at the Bluefairy site?
      It's bad...

Beatrice W. -- wig cap -- thanks that's an excellent suggestion!
