Blue Fairy Pocket Fairy Discussion part 2

Dec 18, 2012

    1. That's a great tip -- thanks!

    2. Beatrice.W your kids are adorable all grown up and the outfits are lovely!

My little Didi arrived... I purchased her Thursday.. sooo quick!!!
I still haven't named her as I am still a little unsure of what nationality she should be...
To me she looks Asian or she could pass as Native American... what do you guys think? A Kawaii little Asian girl would be fun and much easier to dress but it so different to my usual style. OR a little forest girl could be cute too but may be harder to dress.... hmmm
      Here is a box pic:

    3. another pic of her amongst the flowers :XD:

    4. so cute! Doesn't BlueFairy totally spoil you for shipping times?

    5. It's amazing how fast they are, such a treat!!! (I got your message and will reply a little later when the kids are asleep.)

    6. I've just ordered my first pocket fairy, a Didi on original body. I'm trying to stick to my resolve of only collecting tiny bjd so had to talk myself out of the sugar body. I can't believe it, I've been collecting dolls since 2009 but never looked twice at a pocket fairy before. Now I am obsessed by them!
poordittums, your girl reminds me of a Japanese Mori girl. I just adore the Mori style of fashion, I think it would suit her perfectly :-)

    7. Congrats PrincessStarburst! Your Didi will arrive fast. I too live in Australia and I ordered her on Thursday and she was here on Tuesday ^_^ I think they could get addictive for sure!
Thank you for your input on the style of my girl... I am still a bit unsure of her style... I would like to sew for her soon.

    8. Oh I really hope so! I am super impatient (no good ordering a lati then is it!)

    9. I gave up on Lati a few years ago (only purchasing second hand).. I heard people are waiting over 6 months on a doll now!!

    10. me again!
I finally named my PF... her name is "Isi"!
Last night I made Isi a little night cap (to wear until I can order her a PF wig), a night dress and some slouchy socks :XD: they need some tweaking to fit better but I am pretty happy. I hope to sew some dresses for PF soon and I will hopefully add some to my store.

I was also wondering if I could get opinions on the PF wigs. Do they fit ok? I was thinking about a dark Baby doll or Shortcut style for her. :daisy

    11. Poordittums - she's lovely :aheartbea I'm thinking I need a couple of PFs on Sugar bodies to go with my little one. I do have a PF wig which she wears, they fit well but the one I have is a bit 'sparse' so I've had to pull and glue it on to cover up any thin bits which show her scalp. But out of all the wigs I've tried for her, that is the one I keep going back to as it just seems to look best on her, other 3-4s I've tried seem to have too much hair. My friend Mimisstuff has used a Riley Kish wig from a doll with a good result if you check out her Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/26118463@N05/5946310419/

ps Lati is now 8 months behind although apparently they're trying to catch up

Here's my Maisie, with her PF wig:

    12. Poordittums, your new girl is super cute. The PF wigs are rubbish! There's very little wig cap to actually keep the wig on her head! My new girl has arrived and I'm smitten! She has no name and she needs both a wig and a clothes! [IMG]A terrible quick mobile phone photo of Taro! by chocchip, on Flickr

    13. poordittums Isi really suits her. I don't personally love the bluefairy wigs. They're a bit hit and miss as to size. Mitten, my first girl, had a BF wig that was too big and Ophelia (Didi's) was almost impossible to keep on her head. I'd highly recommend the Monique gold size 4 wigs. I've found the best selection of styles and most reasonable shipping at facets by Marcia. Just make sure you choose size 4 and not 4/5. Ophelia had a Hannah style and I plan to get a new one for Clodagh from facets.

kayjay Yes I think your little Maisie needs some friends!

Yay Smudge. It's nice to see a Taro - she is quite like minimay isn't she. I've been comparing her with my pics of Clodagh and trying to pic the differences. The only difference between Minimay and Didi is the eyes - they have the exact same mouth and cheeks.

This little explosion of pocket fairies makes me so happy...I always think they're so under-rated so it's nice to see some love for them. I really must stop neglecting my own girl and take some pictures of her this weekend (weather permitting). I might have to convince Alexisbears to bring her Didis over when she visits tomorrow so she can have some company!

Here's Ophelia in her Hannah wig (not styled very well, I'm afraid!) - I'm not sure where Clodagh's wig is from - it's a bit coarse and I really like the softness of the Monique gold wigs.

    14. honeythorpe - I'd love to see a photo of Taro and Minimay side by side as they are almost identical. On the photos I was comparing, I thought that Taro's mouth was slightly smaller and taller and Minimay's was a tad wider but I can't spot that difference in our two girls. They are really cute dolls. I love their proportions and just seem to be the perfect size.

    15. Kayjay Hi and thanks so much for the information in regards to wigs :) Your little Maisie is a cutie pie! Oh that is crazy about Latidoll.. after I wrote about them taking over 6mnths I saw a post from someone saying they have been waiting 9mnths. How is this possible? There is no way I would ever wait that long for a doll I have paid so much for!

Smudge Congrats on your Taro, I am so in love with Baked Taro... sooo cute!! Thank you for your opinion of the PF wigs. I am glad I asked before I purchased :)

honeythorpe thank you again for being super helpful! I will check out Monique for sure. I am pretty sure I have ordered from them in the past and was happy with them. The wig Ophelia is wearing is similar to the style I am after for Isi :XD:
I agree Minimay and Taro are almost identical! I too was trying to compare the two and only noticed that the eyes may be ever so slightly different?... Minimay seems more happy perhaps, both extremely adorable though!
I feel so happy to be apart of this little PF group... I really love my Isi and would love to collect some sibling for her ;)

    16. o.k I just checked out Monique wigs and the one I love only comes in 4/5 .... is there much of a size difference? Could I sew the back to make it fit better? Thanks x

    17. The 4/5s are quite a bit bigger. You might be able to sew it in smaller but I think they may still be too big. Ack, I just sent my 4/5 Monique wigs away with a doll yesterday. :doh I think Alexis might have one though. The other place to check is cancan j series - they model their wigs on PFs . I had one for Mitten and it was really nice.

    18. Hehe, - my ears were burning :)
I do have a 4-5 monique gold wig. I bought it for my Saintbloom, but have just tried it on Mia, and while it is really too big, it does go on and stay on (the beauty of a stretchy wig cap). You cant really tell that it is too big just by looking at it, but there is a lot of hair :)
Also, you can feel it is baggy at the back and top when on. I think you probably could stitch it smaller if you were dead set on getting a particular style... just take into account that there will be more hair than on the smaller size.
This one is a "Penny" in Chestnut brown (with the ribbons removed)

    19. Kayjay it is nice to see another 'tiny' PF here. I am beginning to wonder if I made a mistake not ordering a sugar body for my incoming Didi. But I guess I can always buy a body separately down the track if I decided to go that way.

Smudge your girl is stunning. I really don't know why I have been so blind to PF until now. For some reason their 'simple style' never attracted me but now it is what I love about them!

Honeythorpe Thank you for the advice on wigs. I have a Monique wig here at the moment that I actually bought for a pukipuki and when it arrived I thought it looked too big (My puki is on layaway) but maybe it will fit my PF instead.

Alexisbears I really love that wig on Mia. I am useless at choosing wigs. Whenever I look at the Monique wig selection I can never actually visualise them on my doll. It is only when I see photos of other people's dolls and they say they are from 'such and such' that I can see what the potential is!

    20. I am in the process of adopting a tiny Yoko, yay! I will have pictures to share eventually. :)
