1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BlueFairy Shiny Fairy/(MW) Junior body discussion part 1

Mar 22, 2010

My beautiful Astrid arrived today!! It took a hassle in the post office to get her... also, she was sent in a doll carrier, not a doll box? I thought that was just for the one month, but maybe that's their new mode of transport. I kinda miss the box, but having a free carrier is nice. It's very cute!

I did her faceup as soon as I got her, and I'm excited that for once it actually turned out kinda decent the first try... also, I had difficulty trying to figure out which wig worked with her (the bang sauvage in khaki brown i ordered for her was very nice but not fitting for the character), when I threw this crazy curl explosion of a wig on her and fell in love - whoops! It's almost as big as she is in person...

    2. Bluefairy has renewed the Shiny Fairy and Junior bodies. Pictures can be found here:
Bluefairy International-I'll alway be here for you

They also have a pre-order going for all shiny sculpts now :)
Personally I really loved both old bodies, so I'm not too happy about the update. But maybe if I see and hold one in person it could change my mind?

    3. It looks like upgrading all of their bodies is the way they've decided to go.
Personally I'm glad the new Shiny Fairy and Junior bodies look much better than the Tiny Fairy neo body :)

    4. Ugh, I hate hate hate the change and hate that there was no warning at all, just like last time, despite the complaints about their communication issues before. I mailed them to request a classic body before they switch completely and am crossing my fingers. I've wanted an SF since I bought my first BlueFairy doll, Dalia, but wanted to get the other dolls off my list first, so I waited all this time. And THEN was waiting for SP Leila had to be available again, since for whatever reason of course the one head I want must be limited. I asked about both things, so... guuuhhh if I can just get this one SF, that's all I wanted, just one little cutie to be the 'baby' of my doll family. PLEASE BLUEFAIRY. JUST WARN US FIRST, GIVE THOSE OF US WHO CARE A SMALL CHANCE.

I want to be done collecting my doll family so badly already! I just want to be done, so I never have to worry about limiteds or special editions or discontinuations or what-have-yous! >_<

    5. :\ Not too jazzed about the change, either, but it did look inevitable since all the other sizes were "renewed".

My biggest peeve with Blue Fairy is that they don't offer an unassembled option-- Minoru World used to, I think, where the price was like $20 lower, and you strung the doll yourself. I'd love to save money on both the assembly fee AND the shipping-- instead of sending me the fully assembled doll in the fancy carrier bag (which I really don't need, but have no way of NOT getting), they could send a smaller box for a smaller shipping fee. Sigh. :)

Also, the switch to the carrier bag is not something I care for at all, lol. But that's enough complaints! It's the last day of the Shiny/Junior free-for-all preorder period!!

    6. I think it annoys me extra-more because I specifically asked them more than once if they planned to renew the SF bodies too later, after the TF renewal, so I could make plans accordingly. They told me they had no plans to do so so far, and since I and others had also complained about the TF change without any warning, I felt safe that SF renewal at least wouldn't happen before I could get my planned kid.

I actually like the carriage bag much more than the old cardboard boxes; I've used mine to transport my dolls safely on trips a few times =) . I like that it's so lightweight and easy to sling on my shoulder and carry. It would be best to have an option though! I ordered my first doll, Jasmine, unassembled exactly to save that $20 heheh.

I asked them about my options, and they told me that they have these dolls in-stock:

      Hana - Jr. body body
      Hana - SF boy body
First School Sam - boy body
First Schoo Sam - girl body
      Clare - Jr. boy bodyl
      Andy - SF Girl body
      Connie - SF Boy body
Sleeping Leila - Jr. boy body

Unfortunately, they won't mix-and-match the heads and bodies due to color-matching incompatibility. Because of that, I've requested the Hana SF boy, since I already have two Junior dolls. If anybody's interested in a classic SF/JR doll listed here (aside from the Hana SF), you should go ahead and email them!

I wish it was SP Leila, because I've always wanted one SP doll in my collection... but Hana would have been my second choice, so I'm glad they at least have that. I'll breathe a sigh of relief once I finally have every single doll on my wishlist. Sooo close now!

    7. I missed the order period by 3 minutes, waah! I went back to nab a few silicone headcaps for my Pocket Fairies (their wigs are so slippery!!), and in that time, it passed 5pm in Korea and I missed out. :'(

As for the carriage bags, my dolls don't go anywhere, so it's not helpful for me in any capacity, haha. I'd definitely prefer some options on assembly/shipping/doll protection vessels. My dolls just sort of... sleep... in their big rectangle boxes on a high shelf unless I'm doing something with them (and depending on the box and the size of the doll, I can get 2 or 3 in one box!). So the stackability was helpful (until they switched to the carrier boxes with fold-out tops). So for me, the carrier bags are not great for storing the dolls, and I can't recycle or repurpose the bag. For people with smaller collections, or people who bring their dolls to meetups, it's a lot easier than hauling around a huge box, for sure!!

      :( Sorry about Leila!! She's a cutie!! Good luck with your wishlist-- and props for being close to complete!! My wishlist is kind of ... the entire inventory of the website.... ^^;;

    8. I got my Shinyfairy in unassembled format this summer! They do offer that option if you email them. I think it is a repeated absentminded omission from their ordering pages. Sometimes when they don't offer extra hands with the ordering period it is by accident too, so just request what you want and you might get a pleasant surprise! ^^

They didn't send a carrying bag with my unassembled doll, which is okay.. but that wasn't an independent option, or I would have requested one. The $20 charge covers both the assembly service and the carrying bag. You can get that charge removed from your order, but only if both options get eliminated. In unassembled form, the parts ship in plastic envelopes (as doll clothing often does) inside a little cardboard box. Only the head gets a nice box. One S-hook was missing, but otherwise assembly went smoothly with the included items, a crochet hook, and a length of scrap wire (my preferred stringing method.) I don't recall the unassembled option making a difference to the shipping cost, but I'll double check that for you later tonight.

I'll look for photos of my Shinyfairy's arrival and assembly. I never posted up a thread, but if I can find my photos I guess I should~

    9. Thanks for the info, Lokinta! Also, I never thought to use a crochet hook for stringing. What a big "DUH!!" moment, haha.

    10. Is the renewal of the bodies permanent?

    11. @billy001 Yes, it's permanent, and the old ones will not be available anymore, as with all their lines :pout:

@almyki I completely understand your frustration, I really thought I must have missed an anouncement... With the pocket Fairies they at leats gave you a chance to buy the old body with an event.

I am very happy I have three Shinies/Junior on the old body, and... there's a fourth one incoming! Guess which sculpt :sweat

    12. Thank you

    13. Hmmmmm.... could it possibly be.... a May??? ;)

    14. @Peppermintsheep Guilty :sweat What gave it away?
Indeed, a fourth May is on it's way, well she will be at the end of this month. It's a second version May this time, so I'll have all three versions! :love

    15. I finally got around to uploading photos of my unassembled Leila's arrival!
Here she is at the end of the process:

I won't post them directly here since the assembly photos contain dolly nudity and dismembered body parts (nothing gory, just a missing or unassembled limb here and there :sweat)

But the arrival and assembly photos can be viewed at your discretion in the following album:

    16. I'm so excited about the body renewal! I've always been quite fond of Bluefairy, but I find my junior body so unfulfilling among my minifees and unoas (all double jointed) I hope I can get my hands on the new body so that my Violet will fit in better with the rest of my crew :)

    17. @Lokinta Your baked Leila is so adorable! I haven't seen many baked shinies so far.

@MaudMAryFlynn I'm happy you are happy with the renewal ^^

My second version May arrived a couple of weeks ago, I completely forgot to post her here. Her name is Yinne and she is so adorable :D
She is very different from my other May's. I have made comparison pictures if anyone is interested.

She went to the sunny forest with me

    18. Yes I didI ordered the shiny fairy May on the new jr body. I'll be sure to post lots of pix and a body review

    19. @Sodabeentjes

Ahh, Yinne is so super cute! Her little face really is very different from the others~ She looks especially young in that photo.. the hair and shawl seem to suit her very well! :whee:

And thank you for your kind compliment! You are completely right, there do not seem to be enough baked Shinies. Mine is really special to me.

I would love to get another Baked ShinyFairy on the new body type, then switch the heads so I can have her on the new body.. *fingers crossed they offer that soon before her resin color starts to age*

Here's my lil Baked Leila "Lucky" wearing shiny things in overly bright lighting~!
Her orange-green-purple color scheme in this photo kinda works for her sweet but off-beat personality. The flyaways too.. Guess that's what happens when you borrow a tomboy's wig.. :sweat
