BlueFairy (Tiny Fairy) discussion Part 12

Dec 16, 2018

    1. @Peppermintsheep I had no idea Juniors were lumped with Shinies, thank you! I feel like this makes calling the set "Shiny Fairy Junior May" even more confusing :lol::lol: Although looking at them side-by-side (nude dolls in image), they do seem quite different. I wonder if May V will be available on both bodies? I doubt they could wear the same exact dress, since the Junior arms are longer?

Dude, I'm even more confused now about the new fullset  But I'm glad to know juniors aren't gone, thank you!

EDIT: Okay so maybe it's meant to mean "Shiny Fairy May on Junior body"??? Looking at the preview image, she does seem to have the longer, thinner limbs of the Junior body, but she's called a Shiny Fairy because... Junior falls under Shiny Fairy now? How confusing! But I think you are right about her being Junior sized, even though she's called Shiny Fairy.

    2. Yeah! I love the Junior size, itโ€™s just a Shiny Fairy torso with longer arms and legs (and slightly bigger feetโ€” buying shoes is obnoxious lol), so Juniors can absolutely wear Shiny/Yosd clothes! They just look like theyโ€™ve outgrown sleeves and long pants though, haha.

I like the flexibilityโ€” itโ€™s like the Pocket Fairy baby bodies and the Sugar/Pepper bodies; You can pick either the chubby little bodies, or the slender longer bodies, but itโ€™s the same head.

      A quick snap of Hector.
His wierd eye is a bit of a pain in photos because it's impossible to get it looking in any specific direction lol. I suppose that adds to the creepiness or something.

He's such a pretty boy. I really am in love with this baked colour.

    6. I was able to pick up a Walking with November TF outfit, I'm really glad they were for separate sale! I really love the country vintage feel, without the ribbons and lace and silhouette brooches so many of the sets have.

    7. Sorry to double post, but did you see the BF 70 cm boy teaser on Insta? I'm struggling to picture, like, a Denis type head on a 70 cm body :XD: But who knows, maybe they have some older-looking sculpts in development.

    8. My first thought was โ€œSlendermanโ€ lol. Since itโ€™s BF 70cm, I imagine the head on it would be BF Daniel or Henry?

Personally, I think itโ€™s kind of a foolish venture. They are so good at tiny dolls (their Pocket Fairies used to be their big sellersโ€” itโ€™s what helped them break through the Volks stranglehold on the Japanese market), and soooo many of their Limiteds have been dresses/girl dolls at the MSD size... it seems like theyโ€™re trying to jump on the tall skinny man bandwagon, and I wish they wouldnโ€™t

    9. They're likely thinking that diversification is key? But at the same time, they've been busy making May/ May V/ Olive in every size lately, like the new May V 1/6 head. If I had to guess, they're trying to generate more options for their best sellers while also branching out, as there are only so many May/Olive/other classic sculpts that longtime fans can buy (er, in theory, lol!).

I personally never thought Henry or Daniel matched the 1/3 male bodies they had before- too baby faced for the six pack, lol! Same deal for the 1/4 tender body (warning: nude doll body), although I think the issue there is more how broad and built the upper body is, not the abs. But 70 cm dolls are a popular size, so I can see wanting to try it? I can't imagine I'll personally be interested, but... Maybe someone else will be!

I feel like it's been a minute since we've seen much original Pocket Fairy body stuff, but I have the impression that tinies aren't as popular as they once were, across the hobby? That's just an impression, however, no data to back it up xD

    10. if it's a slender boy body and not a muscular one i'd certainly be interested in the very least! i think a big problem is their sweet sculpts not going well with musclechads, but i like all of the tiny fairy bodies tbh. i have one boy whose character is very tall that i've been thinking about switching to the knight or tender body (my tommy) though i think that'd make the difference between him and my shortest character (who i put on the shiny fairy junior body) even bigger LOL. i need to put kips and some heeled boots on that one to make him just a smidge taller, he's a bit too tiny as it stands right now. if only there was a 39cm tiny fairy body.... though with those proportions i might have to wait out a xiao head instead of sticking with clare for my boy :doh

honestly one of bluefairies biggest draws for me originally was their selection of bodies of different heights for the tiny fairies since i'm picky about my boys' heights when they're together, i wanted them to have a cohesive face and body style and bluefairy (in addition to having the perfect faces for all of them!) also let me pick out the perfect bodies for them too without having to go searching or doing a lot of crazy modding! (still need to see if i can't put some junk in my sarang's trunk tho )

that is to say... i'm looking forward to whatever they have in store! if nothing else it'll be interesting, and even if it's a bit muscular, if there's a good resin match i might be able to finally pick out a body for one of my floating heads, since i'm always happy to support whatever bluefairy puts out there :D (maybe i'm too blindly trusting though?? LOL)

    11. I don't DO sd dolls, they're gorgeous but far too big for me to handle. I've tried a couple of times but I just find them far to unweildy in my teensy tiny hands. I mean, these things come up to my hip!

I'm not a big fan of the knight style body, it's too cartoonish for me. The wierd large upper body with a more normal lower just looks extremely strange to me. The tender body has the same problem, wierd proportions. Super short torso, really wide shoulders, extremely narrow waist. The gentle body is quite nice, but the arms are a fraction too short. This is something i've noticed with my Rudy, his arms are a bit too short and it kinda bugs me a bit. I dunno how i'd fix that though, he needs slightly longer lower arms and then it'd be more proportionate.

I only currently have the gentle and dandy bodies though. I keep eyeing up boys on mandarake who look to be on the standard body but I haven't taken the plunge yet lol.

I wonder if Robin would work better on one of the girl bodies... *ponders*
I'm still trying to decide what the heck to do with this poor head. lol.

    12. If I recall, the gentle body is the dandy body with longer thigh pieces, which is why the arms are proportionally too short on the gentle body (they were not made longer to fall in the natural spot around mid-thigh, as they do on the dandy body).

I personally don't care for the knight, tender, or blooming bodies, as the proportions look strange to my eyes and the bodies seem too... built? Developed? For any of the TF head sculpts. But obviously, the perception of these factors varies from person to person! It doesn't have to appeal to me to be a good option.

I tend to be torn, because while I would prefer to support BF, I end up purchasing second hand TFs with the classic bodies, as I like those the best by far. I will say that trying to "hybridize" new BF heads with old BF bodies is dangerous, as the resin colors and aging colors vary so wildly. The neo bodies are fine, though, I just visually prefer the more streamlined look of the old single joint bodies. I wish they still offered those, as they clearly aren't averse to providing lots of options.

    13. i find SDs very unwieldy too and yet.... how many of them do i have? XD

the style of the upper body doesn't bother me at all, i don't know what a bluefairy msd would look like with a wider chest and shoulders other that, well.... that! it looks stylistically consistent for me.
but if they ever decided to make longer arms for the gentle body i'd be really excited and probably order a pair for my tommy and sarang. plus they'd probably make them non-muscular to fit with the gentle's style and could maybe offer them as an option for the knight and tender? because my biggest problem with those two is that their arms are muscular which i don't like. XD maybe one of us could write to bluefairy and ask for a longer arm option? :o

@bronzephoenix i do also like the classic bodies, i've never had a problem with posing them, and that clean single joint line is very attractive, i'd love if they brought it back as an option as well.

    18. bluefairy is bringing back berry and niky for december! :o
i feel like we haven't seen berry in a good long while!

    19. Oh wow Nicky! what a joy to see that little lopsided smirk again.

    20. I'm so happy to see Nicki and Berry, but I am confused too. I thought BF made a new monthly sculpt release rotation? I was going to order 1/3 Olive this December, but there isn't a 1/3 sculpt released at all in December. I'm so lost :doh
