    2. My girl arrived! A Resinsoul Su with a custom faceup from Resinsoul. Who would have thought?! Their custom face-ups are really nice and it was an extra $30! I'm in love with her, I'm thinking she won't be a wig girl, those ears are HUGE, so now I have to learn how to tie a head scarf.

    5. Dallieh and I just wanted to stop in and say hello. It's been a while. I'm trying to figure out how to post again using just my phone. Man, I found some flaming hoops and jumped through them! I hope this works!

    6. @vvnem - Your Mi is gorgeous. I was so tempted to go with a RS Mi as my first BJD. The wig and styling you've chosen really suit her.

@Ballet - Your Su is incredible as well. Love the face-up. It's great that RS offer custom face-ups; I've heard so many great things about their customer service that it really makes me want to order from them at some point.

    7. thank you so so much! Only took me a good solid 4 months to get her right :)

    8. Just got my own Mi. She's such a beautiful sculpt.

Really, @vvnem - she looks so well put-together. Good job. I adore her septum piercing. Have you done it yourself? It looks so good.

@Ballet that's an amazing faceup! Her resin colour is wonderful.

I think it's the greatest thing to see Mi and Su's (and everyone else's sculpts too, of course!) because each one looks so individual and different from the next. It's so fun to compare to my own, and be amazed at how much simply skin or eye colour changes their appearances.

I didn't know the name of my Mi when she arrived, but I knew ever since I ordered her that it started on R. And as she's my first bjd I had kind of... assumed it wouldn't matter so much what she was called, but when Resinsoul emailed that she had shipped I suddenly felt the panic creep in about it. I eventually decided on Rhea.

      [IMG][/IMG]

Not quite sure how to post pictures so I hope that worked.

She doesn't have a faceup because I wanted to try my hand at that, now we're waiting for msc and the weather. My wife helped me make a very simple ionian chiton for her to cover up in. I also did an attempt at making one, but... I think it's best that never see the light of day.

@Calabri that's a great wig! My first yarn wig was a disaster, but the fourth attempt, in the picture, became really good. I hope you're proud. With the wig Crow reminds me of Eric Draven, from The Crow, which is really funny if that was unintentional.

    9. I actually bought her from Lunar BJD. The faceup is by her. I had a long issue getting the doll though as I was almost scammed out of my money but with the communities help I got her. She is my grail and the first ever doll I laid eyes one aka the first doll that made me get into the hobby. Also you're girl is gorgeous! I so want to get another Mi haha

    10. Random question guys.

I got a rather old RS Long today and I notice his wrist hooks aren't the standard S hooks (nor are his ankles) but this strange elongaged fishhook sort of shape, which really limits his arm mobility. Biggest problem is that his hands can't even swivvel without the hooks literally gouging chunks out of the inside of the arm.
      Would shorter hooks help?
How is the mobility in Long's wrists usually?

this poor guy has been through the wars, so many scratches all over the place but I SHALL make him beautiful, oh yes. Already washed all the yellowed old sealant off and scrubbed his fading faceup, restrung him so he's no longer floppy and epoxied a cracked ankle (hope it'll hold eeep) but i'm worried about those wrist hooks and the amount of resin they're gouging every time you try to move the hand in any way, it's like scraaaaatch scraaaape with each motion and eeep, that's not right.

    11. @purple_monkfish seems like you definitely should change the hooks. I don't have a Long myself so I can't help you with the mobility question, but it shouldn't rub and destroy the resin, specially by the wrists where the resin is rather thin to begin with. From what I've seen in pictures its always seemed to me like Long have a pretty average range of motion at least. Hope you manage to fix him up!

    12. Thanks. I t hink i've figured it out actually. I don't think they were his original hooks. In fact, given he has single jointed arms, i'm pretty sure he never had hooks originally. the old Longs with the single jointed arms didn't, the elastic just looped around the hands and ankles like with their little YOSDs (which still do that). I expect what happened is his previous owner put some random hooks they either happened to have, or aquired which aren't actually S hooks (they're not S shaped, they're odd) to try to help.
I'll get him some new proper S shaped hooks, those should make a huge difference to the wrists anyway.

I've restrung him now, he was very obliging about it actually. I expected a fight with a doll so large but he was actually not too difficult. I had more problems with a few of my msds, who are just jerks. lol.
He now stands really well, but his arms while tight, don't have the locking mechanism of a lot of dolls so he can't raise them up properly ... yet. I'll probably suede them and maybe wire them too just so he can raise his arms.

He's scrubbed up beautifully though, poor old boy. I'm really pleased with him.

I think I am mad though. I mean, my first bjd in general I decided to buy an old, floppy as heck doll who needed tlc and my first sd sized doll? I did it again ahahah.

but I think once he has new S hooks he'll be much happier. Poor boy is covered in scrapes and gouges, he's clearly lived an interesting life.

    13. Boiling will probably help pop out a lot of this scrapes and gouges. :3

    14. I actually have a lot of dolls with elongated s-hooks. I can't remember if my Gang does, but my Bao did. Idk if they were added by his previous owner but I don't always have problems with the elongated s-hooks but I did on my Bao.

    15. Interesting, maybe they were an in between measure before they switched to regular S shaped ones rather than these bizarre hook things?

Some of them are quite deep, more like he's been scraped up. One foot looks almost grated on one side but his shoes will always cover them. I'm planning to make the worst ones scars if they're visible haha, he had several on his face but his faceup totally covered them up (near his eye).
Most of them are on his legs and back and places you won't see.
Looks like he's been well loved, carried around a lot maybe?
The worst gouges are internal, from these wierd hook things. So much resin powder came out of his arm when I removed his hand eww.

He might keep the long hooks in his ankles, they help him stand because they provide a rather rigid "rod" for the ankle joint and with shoes on it's not like i'm ever pointing his toes anyway. But his hands def need shorter normal hooks so they can at least swivel.

    16. I just checked and Gang doesn't, but my Planetdoll Emma does, as do both of my 5stardolls, my DollLove, Onlydoll, Onlykids... basically the only other doll I have with sort of small s-hooks is my Dikadoll on the old msd girl body xD and the only one I've had substantial problems with is my Bao. My Dollmore Narsha has VERY weird s-hooks xD

Here's an image of the giant hooks, they're really long. That white stuff on my finger? that's resin from the inside of the arm.
      Yeaaaah.

I bought some new S hooks which should be here soon, hopefully they'll fit and solve the problem.

I believe he's one of the really oooold Longs so wasn't designed to have hooks, but these ones are wiiiiierd. And really can't move at all, they don't even rotate.

My Bei, who's YOSD doesn't even have hand hooks and she was made this year. Her hands are just looped with elastic. Strangely, she came holding a teeny little S hook. Her ankles I think have S hooks, but her hands don't. But yeah, there was a teeeeeny little one in her hand when I opened her box lol. It was weird.

    18. Both ends of that s-hook look like they stick out so that explains the resin getting scraped away o:
My friend just got a secondhand Bei, I wonder if she has wrist s-hooks...

    19. Yeah they're totally inappropriate hooks for the socket. But hopefully new hooks will solve the problem. He has the same in his ankles but as he's wearing boots they don't move much and actually serve to support his ankles instead.
But his hands WILL be moved, so kinda need repair.
They're odd hooks, one end looks like an S hook but it's quite wide, the other end is more hairpin shaped. It's odd.
I'll have to get a pic of them alongside normal hooks at some point.

Poor old boy, i'll get him lovely and happier heh.

    20. Hi,

I love Mi and plan on getting her hopefully soon. I'm also looking at getting a Chun but can't seem to find many owner pictures of her. Could Chun owners please spam me with Chun photos?

      Thanks! :)
