1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I always thought box openings were interesting! :)
I mainly check out the ones on dolls I'm waiting for myself, or ones I really want.
It's also a good resource to see what the current default faceup looks like at the time.
It's pretty much a tradition! So much so, that people will wait until their camera is ready to open them.

    2. Box openings are alright. I don't particularly feel one way or the other about them. I do like seeing some of the gifts that people get though, that's always sort of interesting.

    3. It depends.

If it is just literally documentation of the box opening I think it is boring. But my friends make skits out of it. As though the other dolls are opening the box to meet their new friend. THAT's amusing, especially because CCKitty's Icarus is so easily startled... He thought Daughter_of_Hades's Kiseki was a space alien when he came out of the box(he was wrapped in bubble wrap and had a faceplate on)!

    4. Haha, well I guess I'm still in that unhealthy stage where I HAVE to watch EVERY bjd box opening on Youtube while waiting for my first doll. The anticipation is killing me!

    5. Awesome lol. I juste love them. It's like a doll's birth and its just so funny.
Sometimes, I'm even disappointed when there is a new doll without box opening. We can see the doll nude and without any tricks, on details and is just so interesting for me.

    6. I watched some youtube opening the box because I was interested to see the doll, I never took pictures and recorded the opening of my boxes. I like to see the joys and emotions of people, but some are a bit boring.
      ;)

At home, Erick (Don Ringdoll), Hwang Lee (Luke # 1 Dream Of Doll) Hana Kiori (Cherie Iplehouse) Kalishi (head or Eris Doll / impldoll body) and head of Tae (souldoll)

    7. I don't mind box opening in photos, but videos are a bit too long for my taste. Usually though, I only look at them if it's a sculpt I want, or if it's a friend's or if it's on dA (cos if they're under my "watch" list, I'm usually interested to see what new dolls they get/what they'll do with them). But generally I don't browse the box opening forum much. It's interesting to see what freebies companies give, or what condition the things come in though.

    8. I like box opening photoshoots! I love to see people's homes, their cats (haha) and other dolls all expectantly participating in the new doll's arrival. Plus, if it's a new doll or company, it's neat to see how their dolls are packaged. This is also a good place to see unpainted sculpts, too, which is important to me when I'm considering purchasing any doll.

I am not so keen on videos, I think it's because I'm too impatient!! I want to see a it all at once, I suppose!
A photo thread does that better. ^___^

    9. I love seeing box openings posted here and probably too addicted to box opening videos. Hehe~

My favorite videos have no music where you can hear the sound of the box's tape being cut and the first noises of a doll being pulled out of its cushion cocoon. Something about those sounds make me feel so relaxed and excited at the same time. (Sort of like how I feel when I'm hypnotized by Bob Ross's painting, no music and just the sound of paint being carefully applied to canvas.)

For me, box openings are entertaining and informative. It's not like everyday I get a new doll or accessories in the mail so I'm truly grateful to those that share their experiences. :)

    10. I love them! Box opening photos bother me, I don't understand the need to photograph eeevery liiittle thing, but I LOVE videos. I like seeing how dolls are packed, hearing new resin squeek when they pose them the first time, seeing what freebies different stores and companies might throw in...
So yeah, I like them. :)

I guess it's just me living vicariously through other doll owners, since one can only buy so many dolls.

    11. I actually like both box openings and photostories! I like the creativness of photostories and for box openings i love seeing there experession and how big the doll is if im intrested in it, how the company packed it what it comes with ect. :D

    12. I like watching box opening videos or seeing pictures when I'm waiting on a new doll to arrive. It helps keep me sane and it's good for beginners like me to put together that dream list ;) seems like the BJD world is never ending so it's nice to see so many BJD's right out of the box!

    13. I love watching box opening vids when I'm waiting for a doll. Especially of that doll's mold, but in general, too. I get so hyped up when people open their dolls xD (that applies to photos, too)

I've only done one opening vid (I have 4 dolls), and that was for a hujoo baby, so it barely counts. I threw that together with a doll update vlog :P

    14. I love looking at box openings, they can be fun and informative. Especially if it's from a company I like and am interested in buying from.

    15. I don't necessarily think they're interesting or awesome, but I like seeing box-opening pictures. They give me an impression of the doll different from the company's promotional photos or formal photography of the doll after the purchaser has received and worked on it.

    16. I love the box opening gallery :) They're very exciting especially when you're also waiting on something, so it feels even more exciting XP.

The only time they're "boring" is when you're watching a box opening video and realize it's reaaaallllyyy long, like over 13 minutes xP then I'm like, forget this. I'd like to make a box opening video one day but I like to "savor" the experience.

    17. I personally don't like box opening threads, except if I am curious about how a company sends out their dolls. I like to see the packaging and the level of care taken in sending a doll that I am interested in. Otherwise I find them kind of boring, although sometimes people make them fun. I really am not interested in box opening videos, although I did one once by request. People in videos have a tendency to, well, talk too much about themselves and skim over what I came for: to see the doll! But I can see why other people like them.

    18. I think box openings can be useful...I looked at a lot of them when I was waiting for my Doll Chateau Colin...DC was new and not too many people had a Mini yet, so every one that came in was exciting XD
I'll be doing it again when the Youths start arriving as I wait for mine...depending on how fast DC is with my order, I might do one for him (body only, but still...!)...I ordered right after the boys were released and there might not be too many out there by the time I finally get mine. But I don't usually bother to do any, the last one I did was for my DM Fine, right after the sculpt was released. I was the first one to get one and for a year the only one XD

I do not like video's however. They're too long and often awkward (sorry, my opinion^^°). It's easier to see a doll or packaging or whatever in a closeup photo than it is a video with the owner waving it around...
Every time I see a video link I just hit the back button...

    19. I like to look at them but I don't have the patience to do them for my dolls.

    20. I love box opening. I am happy when i can see enchanted owners with their dolls :)
