1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I love looking at box openings for many reasons. If it's friends, I like sharing in on their excitement.

Also, box openings generally have very "candid" shots of the doll - no fancy posing, styling, camera angles, etc. I find that I get a very good idea of what the doll looks like from pictures people post when the doll just arrives. Don't get me wrong, I love artful photography and extensive styling of the doll, but the "bare bones" shots are very useful to see the doll in it's basic form.

Finally, even though I don't post many box openings these days, I always take pictures of my dolls' arrivals in order to document any damage and to have a record of actually receiving the doll.

    2. I adore box openings! owo The board for them is one of my main lurking hangouts, and I've posted them before too. They're also great to find out what a company packs their dolls in and such.

    3. I love seeing box openings from people. It's nice to be able to relive the initial excitement of opening a new doll through others. Also, people like sharing new things! So I don't think it's boring at all.

    4. I love love love love seeing box openings! If I'm curious about a doll, I like to look at box openings about the doll I'm curious about. They help me get a better feel of the doll. It also introduces me to new dolls I haven't seen before!

    5. The box openings is Awesome!)

    6. I love watching box openings of dolls I'm interested in, it gets me pumped for the arrival of my own.

    7. I like looking at them, but I find that I don't go looking for them often.... usually only when I'm in wishful/obsessive mode >.>;;;

    8. When I'm saving for, or waiting on a doll, box opening videos are like an addiction. I see how excited others are when they get their doll, and I remember that I'm going to be experiencing that same thing at some time.

I think I mentioned in my last post that they helped me get excited again for my second doll's arrival. I had become so good at keeping myself busy, and keeping my mind off of it that I needed to psych myself up again.

    9. ^
This I get so addicted finding box opening vids and photo's that I can't help but watch/look at, at least one a day. It helps keep the goal in mind when saving up. That special moment.

    10. A box opening is almost like a ritual to me, but I do not seek out other's box openings whatsoever. I do not photograph the occasion either. I like to be by myself and spend quiet time alone to 'discover' my new addition to my family. For me, each doll has a character and while I may have a perceived idea of what they are going to be like, their characters begin to become alive for me when I work with them. Some take me quite awhile. I've owned my DC Bella (my first bjd) for quite awhile and it hasn't been until lately where I feel I actually have a sense of her. On the other hand, my SecretPerson, Madgey Poo, came out kicking and screaming and wanting attention. Videos and pictures of openings are just not my thing unless it is a good friend in which case I enjoy their enjoyment.

    11. I vote .. "Awesome!" I do think some are more creative and well done then others, but it's fun to share the excitement of the new owner, to get to see the packaging, to see dolls in their "raw" form, and also.. to see (and hear if video) the owners. It's a way to connect with people I have something in common with. I guess I see a little of myself in another human, and who doesn't like that?? I'm always grateful that someone took the time to video or take pics of their openings. :)

    12. I've viewed a few box-openings on You Tube. Some have been interesting, even touching, while others have bored me to tears. I suppose a lot has to do with one's perception of the person doing the box-opening...I find that I do not enjoy a box-opening vid if the person appears bored, i.e. if I get the impression that they have done this countless times before. A good box-opening for me is one in which the person's excitement and pleasure are infectious.

    13. I like looking at box openings, the excitement on the new owners faces is priceless.

    14. I find them enjoyable if the owner is someone I know, or if it's a doll type I'm particularly interested in. Otherwise, not so much.

I think most box openings would fall into one of those categories for someone out there, though, so I think they're generally a neat idea. There's always going to be someone interested, even if it's not me personally.

    15. Box openings are fun for the person involved, and others interested in the doll can see how it's like, why not?

    16. I find it useful if I'm interested in a doll, or curious about a new resin colour. Taking photos while unpacking is a useful record if the doll turns out to be damaged so if you're going to take them anyway, why not share them online for the curious? If you think they're boring, stop reading them - it's as simple as that.

    17. I like seeing other people's box openings. It's great to share in the discovery along with the recipient. I don't do box openings because I don't have the patience to take photos while I'm tearing into the box. XD

    18. I love box openings too! :3 I think they are really resourceful and fun. I see no shame in people wanting to share their happiness of newly arrived dolls. ^^ The joy and excitement from the doll owner when they first get their doll is usually my favorite part. I can't help but to feel happy for them. c: Box openings are also one of the first places I go when I want to see a certain resin colour or sculpt too. ^^ Usually they aren't Photoshopped and tend to show lots of sculpts blank, so it's really helpful when determining whether to get a certain doll or now.

    19. I generally enjoy box opening pictures. However, if the person feels the need to take a picture after every toe and finger is unwrapped, (figuratively, of course), they can be a bit tedious.

    20. I love looking at box openings. Maybe its because i havnt gotten my doll yet and its giving me a small taste of what im in for ~ Either way i get a little excited for them.
