1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Love them! They're actually very informative regarding how a doll of a particular company will arrive at your doorstep, how will they be packed, what they will come with, resin colors in different lighting and numerous other concerns etc. Besides, if you're waiting on your own doll seeing a box opening of the same sculpt would just heighten the excitement or even make you go 'Ohmygosh this person ordered around the time I did does this mean mine is on the way too????!!!' 8DDD

    2. I can love them or they can bore me to death. It really depends on the person that posts it and how they do it (you can really tell how excited they are through photos and text I think). I love when they make it alot of fun with lots of pictures and a photostory or other dolls helping out. Looking at the box opening photos also get me all excited about opening my next doll and planning a box opening shoot and whatnot.

So normally I love them but ocassionally there's just ones that have no effort at all just a couple and shots and not much excitement. Those bore me and very rarely inspire comments or excitement from me.

    3. I think that creative or funny ones are really cute to look at, but unfortunately I'd never post my own for fear of boring people to death, heee... But I like searching for sculpts that I'm interested in buying so I can see them straight out of the box!

    4. Well i adore them, sharing the excitement is the best part, thats what, to me this board is all about *sharing* the hobby in whatever form it takes, and box openings is a big part of that process .

    5. I love them. It's interesting to see the original doll out of the box and what the owners did with the doll afterwards.
I have no idea why, but it's a part of the forum I like the most.

    6. I love them too! Especially videos :p I always feel disappointed though when all you can hear is music. I think it's the tearing of packaging and sometimes squeaky ball joint noise that adds to the appeal ^_^

      (i hope i don't sound like a weirdo hahaha)

    7. No you don't sound like a weirdo. I too love the experience rather than just music. I love to hear the reaction.

    8. I love box openings! It's always so exciting to see peeps get their new dolliehs! ^^ And you don't sound like a weirdo! I agree that music constantly playing in the background just seems really distracting. Another reason I don't like it is that it's hard to hear what people are saying in the vid.

    9. Some of them are fun, especially when other dolls are doing the opening. Sometimes they drag on a little too long and I get bored. Mostly I go to box openeings to see how well a doll has been wrapped so if I'm ordering from the same company I can have an idea of what to expect.

I prefer photo openings to videos, mostly because it can take a long time to open a box carefully and I get bored.

    10. I absolutely LOVE box openings, but maybe that's just me. And the closer I get to ordering a new doll, the more I want to spend hours looking at other people opening their dolls.

I guess for me, I really like seeing how excited and happy other people get--how much joy their doll brings them. I also love seeing the doll in the very first few moments its in the world! And how customized it ends up being. :)

    11. I don't hate them but I rarely watch a video unless there is something about that particular doll that I am curious about. I like picture openings though.

    12. I wouldn't say they are 'awesome', but I do like them 1. To relive the excitement of getting a new doll and 2. To see what all is included with certain dolls, how they are packaged, and to see how the dolls look.

    13. i like box openings (mostly videos) of dolls i'm interested in and mostly of the once i have never seen by someone but on company pictures like... DikaDoll's Autumn.

    14. I enjoy photos of box openings. I do not own a BJD yet and am certainly looking forward to getting one in a month or two time, and photos of box openings fuels the excitement of owning my first BJD even more. It's also fun reading about the other person's happiness and excitement when a doll first comes home. It's what makes this hobby so much more special. :)

    15. I love looking at Box Openings. Especially if its a doll I'm getting or want to get.

    16. Not weird at all! I actually don't like the "edited" box openings where it's just the images with a song edited in for audio. I like the ones where the new owner is talking and making comments, and where there's the sound of packaging being opened. It feels more immediate and real to me that way, more "uncut" if that makes sense? I enjoy seeing other people's experiences nearly as much as I enjoy having my own box-opening experiences. :)

    17. I love box openings, they're awesome!! ^^

    18. I love box openings <3 especially when the owner is earnest and true to themselves about it. Like for videos, and they're squealing every two seconds with joy. I think in a way, it's a ceremony. Without thinking, we stall and go through the extras first and save the doll for last. It helps us cope, I guess. But it really makes me happy when people post box openings. I'm very happy for them.

    19. I love them. I love watching people being so happy when their doll arrives, I love seeing the dolls as close to in person as I can until mine arrives. It's especially nice to see dolls arrive that are on my wishlist.
