1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I'm not interested in box openings. I've looked at a few box opening threads, and I've never watched a video... They just don't interest me. I tried doing a picture-based box opening myself, once, and felt silly while doing so. I just don't see what the big deal is.

    2. I find box openings to be a good way to see a doll as they are right out of the box, especially if it's a newer sculpt or LE that doesn't have a ton of pictures of them yet. Plus they can be kind of fun to watch, because if the person in the video is anything like me, it contains non-stop smiling and lots of squees. Finally obtaining your doll is just a really awesome experience and if you wanna film it/take pictures/etc, then great!

    3. I just go my first bjd earlier this weeks and it was a really good moment for me :). Up until then I'd sometimes read a thread or two on DoA if it was about a box opening for a particular sculpt or it it was interestingle set out with good photography. It is one thing to visit a company website and see a product advertised and quite another to see how items might arrive to new owners, packaging and all that a company might include and do right/wrong.

    4. I believe box openings are an AWESOME public viewing of a personal moment.
It's someone's first experience with a BJD they waited anxiously for!

In my experience they have been fun; my first BJD was used without the original box or paperwork, but I was excited to receive her.
My second opening was my first real box opening was a double with some problems, but I tried to make it fun.
My third was my second double, with unused/new old stock dolls with boxes, but no paperwork.
My forth was the company fixing their mistake from my second opening/first real/first double, just a body, in a box with no paperwork.

I've been excited about each one, and plan on continuing to do photo's for future box openings.

    5. I totally understand, I love watching box openings it makes me feel so excited ^w^. If I watch too many though I tend to skip to the part where the BJD actually comes out of the box. I like sharing the excitement with the doll owner, also hearing the comments they make about the doll >w<.

    6. Awesome! I could look through the box openings for hours and not get bored. They're also great for seeing a doll that's a potential buy, but I love the box openings for any doll. It's as if I'm sharing the excitement with the individual as they pull their doll out.

    7. I think they can be both depending. When I was first starting - they helped me a lot to know what to expect but after a number of them for me it was sorta like "once you've seen one, you've seen them all."

      So...
Boring when - :| they drag on way to long with the opener struggling with the box, bubble wrap, shooting step by step pictures, during most of the video in silence or fiddling with the doll off camera.

Awesome when - :D they are short, humorous or the opener has a story to tell/engaging in some way while opening and we can actually see the doll clearly.

    8. I like the excitement and happiness the people have when they open the boxes. I know I was super excited when I finally got to open my box.

    9. I love box opening PHOTOS, because no matter how boring they are, I can scroll down quickly to THE MEAT - But I have seen some very sleep-inducing box opening videos on youtube, where they go so slooooowly with it I just want to grab the box off them and open it myself LOL

    10. yuppp, I agree whole-heartedly!
I think a box-opening can also be informative if you are interested in the sculpt or the company involved.

    11. I like other people's box openings, but I prefer to open the box with someone important to me and just keep the memory like that. ^-^

    12. I enjoy them, it's cool seeing the different packaging styles of each company. Plus they're just so exciting to me!!

    13. I enjoy reading/watching creative box openings but otherwise my interest flies right out the window. I'll either watch/read something else or skip to the end/bottom. Although, I do enjoy actually participating in the box opening. I guess the only time I'm excited about someone ELSE'S box opening is if the doll I'm expecting is the one they're opening.

    14. I love it - it's like watching someone open a Christmas present :)

    15. I tend to gravitate towards box-openings of dolls I'm interested in, otherwise I'm not all that fussed.
It's nice to see what they'll look like when they arrive, and the packaging before I order them :)

edited because my spelling was atrocious >.<

    16. I somewhere in the middle when it comes to box openings. If I'm looking to purchase a doll I'm not familiar with, then I really enjoy box openings since they give a chance to see the doll outside of the company websites. I don't watch a lot of box openings but I do think it's fun that they are made :thumbup

    17. I tend to look up box openings for dolls that Im researching or waiting for. Along with companies that Im thinking about doing business with. You find out who is a great company to deal with and who puts extra goodies in the order. At the same time I learned who not to do business with. I try to find out as much as I can about that particular doll and why that doll was purchased.

For example when I was waiting for my Bobobie/Resinsoul Ai. I scoured youtube for box openings for her. Not only did I want to know about the doll. But I wanted to know why that person bought her. What caught their eye, what they fell in love with, and what are their plans for the doll?

I use them as a research tool, along with enjoyment.

    18. I like box openings too! I like to look them up when I'm considering a new company also to see how their packaging works. It's just kinda fun seeing people so excited about opening something new they'd been anticipating for a while.

    19. When I am expecting a doll I watch them and get all excited. Any other time I stay away from them and find them boring. xD

    20. Personally, I find watching box opening videos or looking at box opening pictures extreamly boring, I don't know if this is just me because I have a friend that absolutely is obsessed with watching box opening videos. The only time box openings excite me is when I am opening a box of a doll I ordered I don't take pictures or videos of doing this because I feel like doing that is rubbing it in other peoples faces and saying "look what i got, I got this doll and you didn't" it just feels really childish to me.
