1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I LOVE box openings. When I ordered my Lian I kept myself busy by looking at as many box openings as possible, especially Junkyspot boxes! I love the excitement.

    2. Still loving box openings as much as ever! They are one of the things that keep me sane during long waits and otherwise are a wonderful source of information about how dolls come packed and often how they might look blank! c:

    3. When I first saw box openings on YouTube I thought it was dumb until I got my first Doll lol now box openings are super exciting and fun!!!

    4. I think it depends. If you had just received a LE in the mail, the box opening would be the best thing in the world. But usually they are pretty rewarding. You just spent a lot of money and possibly have waited two, three, maybe even four months for it to get there. I like to invite friends over too to take in the moment with me. If you turn it into a big event, then they can be awesome. But if you treat it like it was just another package, then you wont have as much fun.

    5. I love them... bc you go from the box as it was delivered, & you end up with the doll unpacked & dressed or just out of their protective wrap.

Just going down to the last photo is like taking a delicate piece of chocolate and just munching it up like you would a Snickers bar !! *_*

    6. I love box openings. it's so fun to see how excited people are, I just think it's really cute. I know that opening dolls is one of my favorite feelings ever so watching other people do it make me happy!

    7. I like box openings, but usually ones without videos. When I'm looking through them, I want to be seeing the doll itself, and I'll look more at openings of dolls that I am interested in, especially since they are usually much more detailed than the database (and the database doesn't have all the dolls on the site). It is also a good way to see dolls without faceup directly from the company, to really see what the face sculpt is.

    8. I really enjoy reading box opening posts and watching box opening videos. It's like I can also feel the owner's excitement. It also gives me an idea how companies ship their dolls.

    9. I like box openings. It is exciting to live vicariously through other people sometimes haha

    10. I love receiving packages in the mail so watching box openings is great fun for me especially if it's a video. Even boring bits like cutting open the box or ripping the bubble wrap off is kind of exciting. A certain anticipation comes over the person who's actually doing the opening and it kind of catches on. However, I don't enjoy watching videos with wonky cameras. Gives me motion sickness.
I troll the box opening forums every day, but I usually only click the ones that interest me. I especially like first-time doll owners because their reactions are so cute.
I like them to be really detailed, what's inside the box, how do the companies pack their stuff, was the box damaged or not? Usually for my future reference.

    11. When I was new to the hobby, I really loved watching box openings. But after seeing a lot of them, I got bored with them. Especially with the ones that are some sort of photostory. At the same time, I am also a bit bored with photographing my own doll's box openings. Yet I keep doing them, since it is some sort of tradition for me. And I also want to show others how a doll is packed and how it looks blank. Especially when they are 'new' on the market with barely any owner pictures around.

And sometimes, box opening shoots are very handy to see how a doll looks blank. So sometimes when I am trying to find owner pictures of a doll, box opening shoots can be really helpful - so then I only watch the box opening shoots of specific molds I am interested in.

    12. I love box opening vids. I like seeing how they are shipped and the new owners first impresssions. I prefer no background music and for them to edit out the struggling with box moments but either way i still love them. Im more of a yt watcher a
nd less of a blog reader

    13. When I was in the process on buying my first BJD I was glued to watching box openings, Just to find out what it is like, doll size and proportions how different companies package their dolls etc I just wanted to know what to expect when I get my first doll. When I narrowed down the doll I wanted I watched box openings of that specific doll. I loved watching them (especially the first time box openings) as It was exciting to share the joy of seeing the new doll for the first time with the person in the video, some people seem way to calm when doing a box opening I don't know why but all I know is when my first doll gets here I will be in hysterics. :D

Also some of them take so long to open the box and everything and they always take all the other stuff out the box before the doll and it gets me impatient because I just want to see the doll. Its nice when they take pictures too as I get see the dolls better and I love when they dress them up at the end to show us the complete look I hate when they just show us the naked doll and don't put its clothes on I'm thinking hurry up and put on its clothes and wig the poor doll must be cold and feeling embarrassed. Love box openings :aheartbea

    14. I find them amazing *___* especially photo stories! It's fun to see the doll all wrapped, how it comes, the joy of the new owner... It's so fun *__* and you also see how it actually is the doll, especially when you're waiting the same doll <:

    15. I find it very exciting! x_x I really like to see other people get a doll, and imagine how happy they are!

    16. I love them! It's especially exciting if it's a doll that I want or am waiting for ;)

    17. I enjoy the photo box openings that concentrate on the doll, especially when I'm trying to research a specific sculpt. But I click off the youtube videos where you see more of the owner's face while they talk nonstop, and you only get a brief, blurry glance at the doll itself!

    18. I really like box openings, actually!

I think one of the coolest parts of being in the doll community is seeing how much people love their dolls. And in box openings, you can really tell how excited they are to get their dolls home. I think it's pretty cute seeing people getting so happy and excited. I plan to post a box opening thread when my girl gets here.

It's also a good reference - tells you how the doll is packaged, what to expect when it arrives, etc. Plus, like everyone else has said, it's a good chance to see candid photos of a doll. Carefully posed and styled photos are great, but sometimes you want to see what the doll looks like without all that stuff on it.

    19. I love them! I'm not so keen on the videos, but I love seeing the owners excitement and enthusiasm for their new doll.

And as many have said before me, they help when I'm looking into buying a specific sculpt.

    20. After doing it so many times, I don't find box openings exciting anymore. I still like to look at creative photostory type box openings but I don't really care for the videos or just general box opening photos.
