1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I really like the ones where they snapped informative photos about the packaging and content. I also love a really good doll opening video! There are not many, but when they show the doll moving it's joints and it's size compared to furniture or other common objects it is really interesting to watch and informative.

It's cute but kinda bothers me when people take pictures of their other dolls opening the box for the new doll. It just feels way meta, and kinda like the alien miner children from galaxy quest finding Tim Allen.

    2. I love box openings! I think I have watched 99% of box openings on youtube lol. I find them very entertaining and it makes me VERY excited to do my first box opening. I also really love ANY type of box openings, wigs, clothes, shoes etc. I find them very fun, especially when the owner is overly excited lol.

    3. I find the videos to be kind of boring because it's usually a 10-15 minute video with the first half of it just focusing on the owner while getting to watch them staring down and their arms moving a bit until they get the doll out of the box (that sometimes isn't even on screen!). That might be the videos I've just stumbled upon though.

I do like going through the photos in the Box Opening subforum though, since that gets straight to the point pretty much, and it's nice to see a variety of new/untouched or modded sculpts outside of company sale photos. :)

    4. I like box opening. They're actually informative regarding how a doll of a particular company will be packed, what they will come with, resin colors in different lighting and etc.
Especially I find myself gravitating towards them when I'm expecting a doll of my own. It really helps with the wait.

    5. I've seen some really cute box opening stories :3 I enjoy looking at pictures but some of the videos are quite boring. I'd rather look at review videos personally :P

    6. I like them! But usually more so the picture stories rather than the video, because then i can take it in at my own speed

    7. I find them boring personally, but as others have said, they're also really useful to see what a new blank sculpt looks like, how a company packs their products, etc. I've seen some creative ones over the years, but I normally don't go out of my way to look at them generally.

    8. I like watching box openings (not just photos - youtube vids) for dolls that I am currently drooling over myself or have on order too. And sometimes the person making the video is what makes it interesting too - their reaction to the new doll etc. It's fun :) For dolls that I've already seen a bunch of times before, or just a straight forward box opening, I'm not really interested.

    9. I find them useful, especially when deciding to order a doll and knowing what to expect when they arrive.

    10. I really enjoy box openings for dolls I'm interested in owning. I only look at photo threads anymore since the few videos I've seen are mostly self-indulgent nattering that goes on for too long before the dolls get opened, and I don't enjoy watching strangers opening gifts, so yeah. I don't like photostories, and having 10 dolls joining the owner in opening the box with dialogue is tiresome. Just pics of the packaging and doll is enough with maybe a little text under the photos to explain it. Anything more, I ignore.

    11. For me it was a mix of excitment and annoyance - all the bubblewrap! Like oh-my-gosh, I would have ripped it apart like christmas morning but I was afraid to hurt my doll : 0
It was fun, for about the first five minutes.

    12. I love box openings! Mostly the ones with pictures tho, not the video-ones as much... But photo-ones, yes yes yes! Especially if there's another doll there to help open. :D

    13. I just had my first official box opening today--and it was absolutely thrilling. It's my first doll that's entirely brand new AND a grail doll--so that made it extra special. I can't say I'll feel that level of excitement with every doll, but I enjoy it. There's the anticipation of the wait, and all the worries that go with it. And then you open your box and see your doll--and when all if well and perfect--it makes everything worth while!

    14. I find them somewhat entertaining in video if the person is doing a narrative of their thoughts. Visually its not very interesting but neat to see the products.

Sometimes I worry that company photos make items and dolls look much better than real life so a real person's experience is good for research purposes as well

    15. I loveeeeee looking at box openings, both threads/posts and videos! I love seeing the owner super excited, sharing all the goodies they got :) And of course, the excitement of getting a new doll! :D I don't always comment on them, but I check them daily here on DOA and I often watch videos on youtube!

And box openings of dolls I'm interested in buying? Yes please! So much fun~

    16. I don't find the videos so interesting, but I love box opening photos. Its so exciting to share the arrival of a new doll, even when you don't know the owner.

    17. I find box openings really fun to watch or follow, whether they're in the form of videos or photos or anything in between. I dislike the videos that go on and on about random gibberish instead of showing the actual opening of the box and the doll, because it just ruins the whole video and makes it boring. I love seeing newly bought items coming out of the box, sometimes with their little certificates and extra wigs/eyes etc. Something about it is just entertaining for me!

    18. I like box openings~
Photos over videos due to time constrains...

I especially like those which is more informative...
I usually hunt them to see how the box, blank head/face ups, certificates look like~
Plus the proportion to another things and the body detailing, how is moves and poses.. ^^

    19. I look at them mostly to see how the actual doll look like comparing to promo pictures. If it's a video of course i skip some parts as unpacking to get faster to my main interest. Much more than videos i prefer photo reports. Some of people put a lot of effort to make them more interesting like photostories and i found them most amusing :)

    20. after a long waiting it is fun to open box , but I pefer make-up more.
