Box Openings: Awesome or Boring?

I only watch box openings that are horrifically damaged or have something crazy wrong with them.

Box openings in general are really boring, Most doll boxes are the same and they are packed the same and they come with what was meant to be in there, I am also not a fan of new blank untouched dolls to look at. There is something weird about how blank and soulless they are when they first come out of the box.

As such, I only get enjoyment from reading the horror stories as they are at least interesting and a odd kind of narrative. It's not everyday someone gets a box so mangled it fit through the letterbox. (though don't misunderstand and assume I enjoy the damage, I don't. I always hope that they get their money back. Though it is a great way to learn about the pitfalls of on line buying and the postage system.)

 

I love box openings ^^. I tend to search for the doll I really want and watch the opening for that... I then start clicking other links of other box openings and it goes from there really... I have never really been into photo stories though.

 

I find box opennings helpful and enlightening. I can see dolls without clothing, find out about strengths and weaknesses, and get a good look at company face-ups. I find it a great place to get more information about dolls I am interested in to decide if I want to purchase one or not.

 

It's a good place to see dolls that you don't own, or dolls that you are interested in buying, because people usually take close-up of their dolls.

 

As someone who is very close to getting their first doll, I really enjoy box openings. I think it may be because I makes me excited about what I will be receiving in the future. I also use them as a way to check out doll boxes. I don't know why, i just really like looking at all the different boxes and how they are packed.

 

Personally I like box openings, especially if it is of a doll I like and am thinking about getting.
Some of them can be a bit boring if they aren't well executed, but I normally just fast-forward to when thy show the actual doll if that is the case.
The best are the ones of people's first doll. Their excitement and reactions are fun to watch.

I really enjoy them, I think it's because it shows what I can look forward to if it's for a doll I'm waiting for or planning on ordering, though I also really like them for the owner's reaction and commentary.

 

I enjoy watching videos and looking through box opening threads. I really like watching the owners reaction and it helps me decide if I really like a certain sculpt.

 

I really like watching box openings on youtube! I find myself getting all excited for them, even though it's not my doll. I used to watch them before I got my doll and think 'one day that will be me'. I think it gave me a bit more motivation to save up for my girl.
But I can't say I look at the box opening thread on here very often, and if I do, I only tend to look at sculpts I've thought about buying.

 

For me it is very exciting, I mean you are opening the box of something you bought and waited for.

 

I always watch box openings on youtube and love them. It's like those above me have said. You would have most likely waited for your doll for so long and probably spent quite a lot of money too so of course you'll be excited. You wouldn't get a doll if you weren't excited about getting it.

 

I find some good if they do not take forever just to get the box open those I dont have the patience for.

 

Opening the box is amazing! The long wait is finally over and you can see what you've been waiting for!
Again - you can finally look at the character of the new doll =)

 

I ALWAYS look at box opening topics. Just love love love it! I search for box openings from the doll I want and lurking some time there,dreaming and thinking.

Oh and a kitty in the box opening which happens much here is part of the fun. I love box openings with cats in it.

I love to watch them, what I like the most is to see the excitement of the owner and that suspense! Also brand new dolls are cool =)

 

I like box openings! Especially if they are about the same doll (or company) that I own or one of my dream dolls. And I agree everything what Zeuh just said. ^^

 

I love photographed boxed openings, but I find the videos a little long and drawn out. It's probably my own impatience and wanting to behave like a child at Christmas who knows that big one is that bike you've been wanting all year, and I'm sat there shouting "JUST OPEN IT ALREADY!!!" At the screen while the person is carefully pulling each layer of tissue paper off in slow motion XD

The photographed ones can be quite beautiful though. In terms of physically opening your own box, I can't actually describe the feeling I had when I opened the box on my very first BJD. It was amazing, after quite a few months waiting, it was such a magical experience. So from that point of view, I actually love to see other people share that magic too ^^ Makes me feel a little less odd getting so emotional over a doll!

 

can be very boring but does help with choosing dolls u like if u watch a box opening with the doll u want it can be very helpfull cause u can see how they come packed up and see how their bodys work
