1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I get drawn to box openings when I'm saving for a doll, or if I'm waiting for one. Box openings definitely helped me get excited for my Apollo, because I'd had so much to do in those two months that I sort of forgot that a doll was on the way.

But I prefer videos on YouTube to a lot of pictures.

    2. Awesome. I love checking box openings. No matter what doll and who's opening the box, I check it out anyway. I haven't watched any videos, but I guess I'll check out few in the future.

    3. I like the photo box openings they're awesome:) good for researching dolls, the one's like photo-stories are fun to read as well.

I'm not too fond of the box opening videos though, there aren't many I have finished watching because it gets a bit boring waiting for them to get to the doll, and sometimes the doll isn't shown long enough when it is out.

    4. I used to watch videos of openings obsessively... but when I finally got on DOA they became unnessisary and I usually just stalk the threads for ones that I care about seeing.
I think it really depends on the company that is being opened. I have seen a billion and one RS box openings and sense there isn't a sculpt of theirs that I would want for myself, I don't look at them anymore because I find them boring...Unless of course they are from JunkySpot. Because then it comes with weirdo junk in it and that is always fun to look at.

I will always look at a fairyland or soom box opening, though.
      ;D

    5. I think looking at photos of box openings are interesting. I like to see the way the doll has been packaged by the company. I haven't seen many videos though, since they seem kinda awkward.

    6. I love box openings and I usually check them all out, unless it's for a doll I really really don't care about.
Especially when it's a brand new doll and it's one of the first on the forums, I love looking at it. You can also feel the owner's excitement usually in the photo's and stories, so looking at them usually cheers me up a bit.

    7. I like to see boxopenings, because you can see how it is when you get your treasure. Also I like the you tube films! Then you really can see and hear the excitement of the owner! I really love that. Mostly when I like a doll I look for the boxopenings of that speciale doll, then you can emagine how it would be if you where the owner.

    8. I love them!!!!! they're so exciting! when my first doll arrived (about one month ago) my mum "helped" me with the box opening..... I wanted to kill her: she opened it very quickly!! I wanted to take a lots of photos!!!! she wasn't excited, she just wanted to see my expensive girl.....:|

    9. Box openings can be very useful -- they are a way for other hobbyists who maybe thinking about ordering a doll from that company to see non company pics of the doll, how the doll was packaged, what condition it came in etc.

    10. I like box openings that are like a review, with plenty of pictures. They can be so useful and informative if you're thinking of buying a particular doll. The cute stories involving other dolls, not so much. I don't ever watch the box opening videos.

I've only done one myself, because I was one of the first to get that type of doll and I knew some people wanted to see him.

    11. I like watching video box openings a lot. Pictures are nice, too. I just ordered my first doll, and when he arrives home I'll be videotaping it. Partially for fun-- and part because if there's anything wrong or missing then I'll have it on camera.

To be really honest, I thought that doing box openings as videos was mostly a way to cover yourself if something was wrong when I first saw them. I mean... you're opening up a doll that costs hundreds, and if something's wrong you want a record. lol. Maybe I'm just weird though.

    12. I observe them if the person doing it is interesting to me or if I know it went wildly wrong (if there is a box opening where instead of getting a doll, the person was shipped a box full of doll hands, I would be all over that). Otherwise, I'm not a huge fan. The only one I've ever done was for a friend, on MSN video chat, because she'd chipped in for me to buy the doll!

    13. I enjoy the joy that the owner expresses, and I find them to be a good resource to see if I'm thinking of buying that same doll...

But sometimes I get bored during videos, especially if the fight with the packaging goes on and on and on. I like quick and efficient box opening, with more of the video concentrated on the doll itself.

I love box opening picture threads though!

    14. I like to watch box opening videos, so I can see how well a company packages the doll. I really don't like looking at box opening threads for some reason.

    15. I enjoy box opening for one reason, it's a good way to see many different sculpts. Also A lot of owners will show the doll's ability to pose. I do get bored if I've seen a sculpt multiple times but then I'll just skip those.

    16. it would be awesome when i get something i expecting for a long time, but if sth damaged inside will upset me and if that happens again and again then that's boring kind of aweful...

    17. Love checking out box opening :)

    18. depends....

when i'm expecting a doll i spent alot of time there but if i'm not i go there everyonce in a blue moon.

    19. I like to look at box openings especially for dolls I am interested in, or curious about. It's a good way to see the doll "as it is" in owner pictures. You can learn about the doll (how it look blank, body and posing right out of the box, etc) and other aspects like company packaging, what he/she comes with, etc. These would be very useful if I want to order from the company.

    20. I have had a lot of fun with box openings. I sometimes go to the office of my apartment complex to take photos of my dolls anyway, and if a doll has been delivered, then I stage the photo subjects welcoming the newbie into their midst.

Since I have a strong science fiction element to my overall "story," a lot of times, I just stage such sessions as though the newly delivered doll has been found in an escape pod, and has somehow landed in the backyard of the mansion where the others live.
