1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I have to say this is the first time I've ever heard of this concept. I've unwittingly seen them but didn't know they exist as a regular thing. Usually the ones I've seen have just documented damaged stuff. Been in dolls for years. How long has this been going on?

    2. It depends on how it's done for me. I love when they have really good photography and/or a narrative. However, I have a VERY short attention span, so if it drags on for too long/has too much for me to read, I lose interest.

    3. I love box openings!
The excitement or disappointment that the owner has upon opening their dolls is contagious. It's like a drama, haha. I also like to see what little goodies are included, what the dolls look like (size, face-up, poseability, etc.), and how they're packaged. I'm actually not so into the box opening photostories... I like photostories in general, but box opening ones just don't do it for me... I guess I find it distracting.

    4. I only look at openings of dolls that I like, or friend's openings. I rarely look at any other, because frankly, most dolls are pretty boring when they are default, naked and just arrived, unless I personally find the mould interesting.
It's more fun to look at them later on when they have got clothes and wigs and you can see their personality a little bit more.

I record my own openings to have as a memory of a happy time and to make sure to document any damages.

    5. I like box openings. I find them fun, and I enjoy seeking out box openings of dolls I like but wouldn't own as well as companies of which I am a fan. I think the little photostories are cute, and I do find that videos tend to be pretty boring when people start talking. It's a forum I regularly check. I like the contagious feeling of new resin: it's like getting a new doll yourself, only you're not paying for it, if that makes sense. It's just fun to live vicariously through someone else now and then.

    6. I love box openings! It's so nice to see the excitement/happiness on the new owner's face, and it's a great feeling to see someone that shares the same hobby when you live in an area where nobody seems interested in BJDs. I love the bubble wrap mummy moment and when the face gets uncovered. The videos have helped a lot in keeping me sane whilst waiting for my girl :)

    7. For me, they get me excited, almost like i'm getting stuff too xD
Box openings are also a sense of motivation for me to keep working to get myself a doll.

I adore box openings, especially if its a doll I want in the future c:

    8. I love box openings! Its so fun to watch people do it. Sometimes I specifically search youtube for them. lol
Its just something about them that are just so fun and exciting, probably because it reminds me of myself when I open new boxes of stuff! :D

    9. I love box openings, it's always nice to see what new dolls are coming in to the den too. :)

    10. The box opening thread is probably my most visited thread ever. But I hate the video trend which seems to be taking over. They're usually too long, too boring, and often times you don't get a good look because the camera won't focus on the tiny details of doll and or/outfit.

I like some photo story box openings but if I see more of the doll you already own than of the doll you just received I back out of there super fast. Come on, this is a box opening thread, people, not a photo shoot for your other dolls! I wanna see your brand new dollie. :sweat Sorry, pet peeve there. But some inclusion of your other dolls can be sweet so long as they aren't stealing the show.

    11. I haven't made one or spent much time looking at them yet. But I do like them. It is fun to see people joyful. It is interesting to get a peek at the human behind the doll when that happens. Some people have a special way of checking out the joints and details that makes it all even more special. Some have cute or imaginative ways of displaying the evolution of the doll or interaction of other dolls, or other "family" like pets and I think that is fun.

    12. I love box openings! I think they are really exciting; it is really interesting when you can see the doll from it's first stage and watch it transform into a real character.

    13. sometimes they are boring sometimes they are interesting, I like the photostories better than the vidoes.

    14. Box opening can be very fun if you are a friend of the person who is opening it, but when there are very long videos of box opening and I don't even know the person I think they are boring. Short videos os the box opening and pictures of it I find really fun *w*

    15. i love box openings i watch a ton of them when im waiting for a new doll gets me extra hyped up i find when they are on the plane/ship and are about 2 days away i watch one after the other for hours i have to so i dont sit and think about my own opening

    16. I love to watch box openings!

During the long and agonizing period when I am waiting for my own dolls, I find myself obsessively watching them on Youtube.

They're also helpful when I want to see more of a certain sculpt. There is no Photoshopping and since the dolls usually come undressed, I can see more details on things that promotional pictures often miss, such as joints.

    17. I. LOVE. BOX OPENINGS.

Strangely, it almost feels like opening my own doll. ^o^ I love seeing what other people's dolls look like, what they came with, etc. It feels like I'm becoming a box opening expert. I do sometimes feel like its boring but it's always exciting at the same time.

    18. =w= double post...

    19. Box opening is a delight! Escpecially, when you want your doll for a very long time!!!!

    20. I love box openings!! >w< Partially because it's so awesome to me to see the excitement of others when they get their dolls, and I also find some comfort in them while awaiting my own dollies, knowing that I get to experience that also as soon as mine arrives!

It's also a fantastic way to see raw, unadulterated pictures of sculpts that I might be curious about, since they're right there, fresh out of the box, sometimes without faceups even, so it's very useful when I need more references than just the ones available on the doll site. :D

And I'll admit -- usually, I'm more inclined to pictures, but I ADORE seeing and hearing the squeeing of a happy dollie enthusiast in videos as I get to witness the moment of them seeing their baby. >w< <3 Brings a smile to my face every time.
