1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I LOVE box openings! I like seeing dolls I wouldnt get and the packaging, the extras and getting to experience that doll in that way. Its one of the first threads I check when I log in.
Its especially exciting when someone posts a doll you really have been waiting to see, those first owner pictures are really great, especially when making decisions yourself.
Its not something I would do, as I like to just open the box in my own time, but I like seeing them.
If Im not interested in a doll then I wont look at that box opening, simple as that.

    2. I get totally excited about opening dolly boxes. :) I have to hurry up and get it open! I did a video of opening my first doll. It was cool :)

    3. I love seeing people open new dolls especially first dolls. It helps when I am waiting or saving for a doll!

    4. I find some to be rather dull, but if it's well done and edited down to like 3 to 5 minutes there fine.

    5. I love boxopenings! It's so interesting to see details which usually are not shown in regular gallery treads or the official company pictures, like posing, how the doll looks without faceup or no-photoshopped company faceups,... also how the doll is packed, extras,...
As for videos I'm a little impatient and I only watch them if I'm really interested in the doll. I prefer pictures and don't care if they are boring or an awesome photostory. Also it's always interesting to read what the owner was feeling when the doll arrived - happy, surprised or even sad stories about the arriving day.

    6. I love box openings if they are dolls that I really want. It serves as a motivation for me, especially if they are dolls that have been long sold out and rare to see. It makes me believe one day I can open up their box too! xDDD

I'm not a fan of video box openings. Most people take too long showing off the little accessories like wigs/clothes still in the bag...and then you don't really get to see the doll very well detail wise. I prefer pictures. Little story can be really cute too~

    7. I really appreciate when someone does a box opening for their dolls. It gives me an idea and feel of the experience. While my first doll is on his way, I get excited when people show their box openings of the same or similar dolls. That way I know what to expect. And sometimes, the dolls can look completely different from the company photos to the ones taken by the owners.

The same goes for the videos of doll box openings too. It's fun to see others get excited about something they really love. :)

    8. I'm one of those people who just loves box openings and checks that forum ALL THE TIME...

I really enjoy the feeling of 'sharing the excitement' so to speak, because I only get a new doll once in a blue moon and don't get to open boxes for myself very often! Not only that but I'm also interested to see what companies throw in as extras, or how often damage in transit occurs... it gives me an idea about what I can expect if I get a new doll, and whether or not certain things (like scuff marks on some dolls) are to be expected.

One of my favorite parts is seeing whether or not the dolls stand out of the box though. ALWAYS impressed to see that!

    9. I don't look at them for entertainment (though it's always appreciated when the person doing the box opening adds things in for the viewers entertainment!), but more so that I can know what to expect from certain companies or dolls that I'm interested in. Mainly, I like to see the naked, bald, and usually blank doll before I commit to a buy just so I can map the potential in my own head. Also, I like to see the packaging- it helps me to feel a bit more reassured about the safety of my doll while she's in transit :D

    10. I love box openings! It's like christmas to me! I remember the enthusiasm and joy I felt when I see them. Also, they are a good record incase of any damaged bits. Plus, after all the waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, I want to debut my new resin person. I find they also serve as a good discovery tool; not all companies show blank dolls so it's a great way to see them before face ups (those without one that is).

Videos get a little boring especially when the person struggles for 15 minutes with the outer box before we see the doll. It ends up being a minute of 'doll time' before it ends. Anticlimactic if you ask me.

    11. I enjoy box opening pictures and comments, but I never watch videos because of reasons others have listed. I love commenting on first-time BJD owners box openings, because it made my day when someone did that for me :)

    12. I love box openings for many of the reasons listed already (seeing how dolls come packaged, what the sculpts REALLY look like, how they compare to other dolls/humans etc). I also love well-done photo stories (well-written ones...) so the box openings w/other dolls & w/dialogue interest me.

    13. I like doing box openings because for me it's just a way of documenting everything. I enjoy looking at other people's box openings too but I must admit that after seeing so many of them they are kind of repetitive and it does get boring because I already know what to expect. Usually I'm more interested in seeing box openings of dolls from companies that I might want to order from in the future and that are not very popular, just so I can see how they are packaged, what they come with, etc.

    14. I really like box openings, but now I only look at the ones of molds I like or I find interesting.

    15. I look mostly at box openings of the dolls that seem interesting to me, but I pretty much enjoy them. I think it's great to see the moment of owner's happiness. It's also a first glimpse of the doll itself - you can wonder what are owner's plans, what the doll woud wear and things like that...I like this feeling of mystery~

    16. i like them if made into an interesting story, otherwise the only time i bother is when i want to see how a sculpt looks blank.

    17. Box openings always retain this type of novelty, and evoke relief and joy from the consumer. The initial fear of general chaos is alleviated ("OhmyGawd, did they send the right doll?"), and I'm always excited to see the fruits of my fiscal labor. Oh, and the little goodies generally included in box openings are always a treat, at least to me. And, as an added bonus, the doll is shipped in this incredible, ornate and elaborate box that I end up keeping.

    18. I don't look at every single box opening, but I always check the box opening board, because I do like to look at box openings of my favourite sculpts, and when I'm planning, I like to look at any box openings from the company I plan on ordering from, regardless of sculpt. Other times, I'll look at them on a whim, if the thread title is clever.

    19. I like looking at the photostories of box openings, I think they're cute. I don't tend to watch the videos unless it's a video of an opening where there is damage - sort of like seeing what could happen if you ordered from the same company.

    20. Sometimes I enjoy them other times I skip through the basic stuff and just get a look at their doll. I get excited about my own opening of boxes though! and I usually video tape (tape lol!) I mean record the opening of my dolls if I can. I find that I tend to watch and look at more box openings when I am anticipateing a new doll more than when I am not.
