1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Buyer‘s regret

Apr 28, 2024

    1. I started with MSDs and noticed 'quickly' that they weren't it for me. I did feel regret for investing time and money creating my characters just to rehome them at the end.

    2. I've had that happen with the last couple of heads i bought tbh. The one i felt like that as soon as i placed the order (it was a bit of a FOMO impulse and i knew when i placed the order that she wasn't a perfect fit for me character. she was also a larger scale which threw off all my plans too ><), and the other, i had some uncertainties about, but he had been my first choice, and now that he's here, I'm still not sure if he works for the character!

For me personally, I'm thinking that a lot can be done with a faceup and/or some modifications, so I'll try to make them work. Even if it means commissioning someone else to do a part of that work instead of trying it myself, i'd rather spend money to do that instead of buying new heads that might also not work and have trouble selling the multiples. Plus, they are pretty sculpts and they might grow on me once they have faceups and bodies!

    3. That's also what I'm afraid of. And, I probably wouldn't be able to rehome the "trapped in my box" gals. Speaking of which, I probably should ask how long the other one has just been hanging out in a box. I kind of wonder what percentage of bjds are casted, then never get to see the light of day, for years.

    4. That's a good question. At the beginning I had several dolls staying in their boxes for quite some time

At the moment I still have one doll here that I regret buying. Shortly after I got her she went back into her box...nerver to see daylight again

    5. Oh my thread got merged into this one haha

So ended up getting my Susu today.
Not a fan of the faceup
And still really on the fence if I even want to keep her.
I think I'll list her and see what happens

    6. :pout: Hopefully she'll get to see light again.

    7. That would be nice but that will probably happen once she is rehomed

It's kinda crazy paying so much money for something and then regret buying it.

    9. @jessholy Sometimes it just feels so surreal Fingers crossed that this won't happen with my next dolls

    10. @SpaceGirl I'm sure she will. The one I bought second hand, did. (Might be harder if she's some bird woman or something.)

    11. For me, I try to avoid it by making sure I can look at owner photos. Sales photos are obviously really carefully arranged, so it's useful to know if the dolls are as beautiful without filters.

    12. Someone just gave me this mini BJD doll that's like the companion of one I already owned. I'm just not sure I like either of them. I rarely sell my dolls but these two they're just not really doing it for me. I haven't done much with them and they are blank so maybe when I get them faced up and outfitted I'll like them more. If not I may do the almost unheard of thing for me and just sell them off. Right now they're in a box and that says it all because I hardly ever do that let a doll, even an unfaced up doll just sit like that. I ended up with her because my friend had buyer's remorse too. Neither one of us has particularly bonded with this type of doll..

    13. I never thought I would be the one feeling like this but here I am! I didn't love my newest doll nearly as much as I thought I would, and now I'm panicking a little. I do still think it's possible that I'll grow to love him more, but I feel a little hollow inside right now.

    14. It‘s so disappointing isn‘t it! Especially when you‘ve been looking forward to it for a long time. What doll did you get?

    15. Xagadoll Mini Lucas 2.0, with their 47cm body. Most of my issues are actually with the body, so maybe one day I might try hybriding?

I could go on in detail, but I'm thinking I'll just write it all out when I make my unboxing post.

    16. As someone who is relatively new to this hobby (the purchasing part at least): Yes!
It's definitely because I didn't know what I want, also the FOMO and impulsive purchasing when I wasn't mentally well.

On the good side, trial and error made me a bit more hesitant to buy a new doll in general, but I've also noticed that looking at the blank doll face BEFORE the purchase is very important to me as I tend to take a long time to actually work on a doll.
Therefore I need to be in love with the blank faced doll or I'm not buying it.
It was another reason to join DOA tbh - better research opportunities! :)

    17. i'm feeling some buyer's regret on the jointed hands i bought for oliver... the pantone match wasn't as close as i thought it would be, so there's a visible color difference between the hands and his resin. jointed hands are already made of such tiny parts, but he's 1/4 size, so they're just SO small. the thought of taking them apart to blush or dye them is.... reeeeaaalllyyy intimidating, lol. aside from that, the S hooks they came on don't fit in his wrist cavity at all, so i can't even use them right now. that can be fixed but, when trying to put them on.... i somehow managed to chip his faceup. so im just feeling kinda sour and bummed about the while thing at the moment XD
eventually i'll either fix up the hands so that they work for him, or just try n sell them i suppose.

    18. I feel you on the impulse buying when you‘re in a vulnerable mental state. It still happens to me, albeit more rarely now that I‘m aware.
And also yes on taking long to complete a doll. It has to be versatile in its blank state. I’ve found I often fall in love with a faceup or a styling and then it’s hard to recreate once the blank doll gets to me.

    19. The early 2000 was a wild era to buy dolls xD.
The only website I knew was Volks' and wether I fell in nove with SDNana, I ended purchasing a SDMark as I thought he was beautiful and never saw a boy BJD with long hair!

When he arrives yes he was beautiful but I ended not knowing what to do with him and kinda regretted not buying a Nana. Managed to buy a SwDNana years after and I didn't liked her either. They're rehomed for many years now, but it was very tricky to rely on those old pictures and faceups.

    20. Super-long pre-orders. I'm over them. I knew that the doll I pre-ordered was going to take 8 months to make/ship. I did not realize until after I paid in full that the "clock" for the start of the period was the close of the order period - meaning that I paid for the doll in November 2023, but the company didn't start production until January 2024, after the pre-order period closed. I figured the doll would show up in August. Now it's looking like a full year wait, and I'm having regrets.
Doesn't help that he was obscenely expensive. :sigh
