1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I prefer to buy a pre-owned doll because I've an idea of how she looks exactly

    2. I also prefer preowned dolls because of the price and also one can see pretty much what they really look like. I have been very lucky conducting business on e-bay, so no complaint there. I also have had decent luck when buying directly from the companies; however, I still prefer preowned.

    3. My opinion is such: First dolls should be bought from a company, and not second-hand. Why? Because it gives you the experience of dealing with foriegn companies. But that's just me.

    4. I prefer to buy dolls new, but if I'm trying to get a limited doll, I probably don't have a choice but to buy it from someone else.

I don't mind buying dolls pre-owned at all though, especially since they can end up a lot cheaper than buying new, or its a much better deal.

    5. I go for pre-owned.

Im someone who likes to fix up dolls.
And now and then there are some dolls on the marketplace with unfinished mods (because the owner run out of time) or stains and things like that.

As soon as my dolly funds are up a bit i will probably start lurking the marketplace again.
Looking for some fixer up pretty face,
      fix it up,
and sell it for a small price ^_^

    6. I've gone both ways. Some of my OT Littles are second hand or recieved in trade for services and they fit in to the family fine.

With my situation I could see buying a used body but I like blank heads so it would have to be blank for me to buy it, unless it was hard to find.

    7. Generally I prefer a new doll, I have bought two dolls on the secondary market with no problems at all but there is something special about a new doll straight out of the factory!

    8. It would depend what I'm looking for. I don't have any dolls yet, but I think that I would want to do the face-up myself, so I would rather buy directly from the company for that, since I would hate to wash off an existing face-up. If I wanted a doll that already had a face-up, I would probalby go for a pre-owned doll, because the seller would show pictures of exactly what you would get in terms of face-ups and eyes and wig if they were included.

    9. Ether or. Four of my dolls I bought brand new from the company. But head parts such as my Schoolhead B and it's SD13 boy body I bought pre-owned at Yahoo Japan.

Some pre-owned dolls that go on sale at E-bay are ridiculous. Especially if it's a doll you could still buy at the website. The prices that they sell these dolls for could be good or insane. I understand if it's a limited edition, but they sell it for way more than what they paid (and some have been used already..including the clothes). It would be better to get a deal (if there is one) at Y!Japan. Or just get lucky at an after sale if it's still early.*_*

    10. I think ,as almost everyone, that the best thing about pre-owned dolls is a low price or chance to get limited ones.Besides that,a second-hand doll can get really fun and interesting. You can actually "meet" the doll,it´s past, previous personality, keeping it,or mixing with your onw ideas.Like it have actually lived before meeting you...
Don´t know if i made myself clear xD

    11. I picked pre-owned but it does depend on the doll.

If it's a doll that only comes with a faceup (example - some tinies) I prefer to see exactly how good the faceup I will receive is, so I prefer preowned.

If it's a discontinued doll or limited sale I missed, I will buy pre-owned as long as the doll is unmodified, has all of what came with it, is well-cared for, and does not have a scalper price.

I also like the immediate satisfaction of buying a pre-owned. All of my pre-owned dolls were purchased on DoA.

That said, if a doll usually comes with no faceup (Unoa) or if all faceups are custom (Narindolls), then I want to buy that doll from the company, especially if the aftermarket is inflated.

    12. I just bought my first doll second hand and I don't regret it. Part of the reason was the price, the other was knowing that an unwanted doll was getting another chance? I just fell in love with the pictures and I'm very happy with her ^_^
I think its a personal decision and theres nothing wrong with getting a new doll,.. someday I think I would like to buy a doll new from the company, but for now I'm very satisfied with my lone girl <3

    13. Depends on the doll of course but I think most people prefer to buy straight from the company due to the amount of trust in your product. But there are good pre-owned dolls that are kept in the excellent state that their owners say they are. XD

    14. All the dolls I currently own were bought directly from companies. I had some second-hand dolls but sold them, I wasn't able to really bond with them...

    15. I get antsy when I have to wait about 2 months to receive a doll directly from the company. I think during the long wait I start to anticipate and expect too much from the doll being ordered. ^^;

    16. I'd prefer to buy straight from the company. There's just that brand new, fresh element that I wouldn't be able to get if I bought a previously owned doll. Though buying from the company is a preference, I wouldn't be oppose to buying a used doll that I really wanted.

    17. I'm just starting out, I only just bought my first doll online pre-owned in the last few days.
I agree with what alot of people say about like 'worrying you may be scammed while you wait' and such, but I'm really optimistic, and especially for a first doll, I think getting my SD Yewon second hand will help me feel less like I'm just getting thrown into this.
I have plans later on for learning to do face-ups and such, but I think I'd feel really paranoid and afraid if her face came blank.
I also agree about the 'adoption' feeling...I sort of feel like I'm giving her a chance.

    18. I like buying both second hand and from company (love the new doll smell :> lol). As it is, my Luna, Toppi, and School C are second hand (although school c was nip). My Mino head will be from company, but her body is second hand xD.. hmm I'm getting a Kumi soon too that is also second hand... oh but my Suiseiseki is from company ^_^

    19. I voted for pre-owned because almost all my bjds came from former owners.
I prefer this because I was able to get them without paying customs and taxes. And some of them have wonderful OOAK custom faceup.

    20. Both is good. Company makes you wait way longer though ^^
