1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I prefer previously owned dolls. xD
      I've always been an "adopter", though.
      I find that I was getting too stressed about it when I planned out the doll too much and it didn't go my way (usually because of money concerns), so now... I kinda let the dolls do what they want, and they're all happier that way
      and I get to buy "unwanted" dolls. ^^ (I tell myself no one wants them... hahaha... the guilt factor.)

    2. Well for me I think the preference would have to be for new. It would make me uncomfortable to think that my baby was once someone else.

    3. Preferably new for me, but pre-owned is just as good in my case. Shin is pre-owned and I love him to death, regardless. I just like the feeling of being the first person to touch and play with something ever. You should see my video game ritual when I get a brand new game :thumbup

      If I can get what I want new vs pre-owned, then that's absolutely awesome, but if there's no chance at all for me to get him/her new then I'm more than happy to settle for pre-owned. I'm still getting what I wanted either way :XD:

    4. I got Shiwoo new and Butterfly's head used. Personally I don't care. :) I love them anyways.

    5. I actually found I really love getting a pre-owned head, but put it on a new body. Seth worked out great like that, being a 2006 Nanu head, and getting him a fresh new LUTS boy Delf body.

      I guess that's the best of both worlds then :)

    6. I prefer buying new dolls, but alas there's one I missed out on due to getting into the hobby so late . . . I will not rest until I get him!

    7. I'm a no0b, so I want a new BJD as a first. I will probably only get one BJD ever in my life, but we will have to see what happens...

      I don't prefer to have something previously owned because I know that doll probably already had a previous name and "soul" from the previous owner embedded into it. Something I do not want to have or have erased.

    8. I have both new and previously owned. My first doll was previously owned. I am not sure if i am her 2nd or 3rd owner but i thought she was beautiful when i saw her and knew that i wanted her. i so far have 2 adopted dollies and the other 4 are new. Price and condition (how much work involved to make it what you want) can also be deciding factors in whether i want a previously owned doll or just get a new one from the company.

    9. I would buy from the market, but I'm not allowed to because my dad doesn't trust people :C
      But when I'm older I'll probably buy some previously loved cuties from you guys~

    10. In most things, I prefer pre-owned. I'm not sure I can articulate exactly why.

      Often I have gotten new stuffed animals and dolls with a clear idea of who I would like them to be, yet somehow they assert a personality. They become who they ARE, not who I want them to be. Since that is true of new toys as well as pre-owned ones, it really doesn't make much difference, I guess.

    11. Both of my dolls (obitsus) are a mix... the head of one was previously loved, and the body of the other was picked up second hand from ebay.

      While I would like to pick one up from the company, my budget doesn't allow for me to do so. Besides, previously loved dolls need new homes too. ^___^

    12. Ah, my first doll, Chris, was pre-loved (twice!). Second one, Lucas, was new. They are both Elfdolls but I didn't notice any difference except Lucas smelled like resin for two weeks. :ablah: Then we have Zach, Mikey, Flick (pre-loved...too many times! 5 or so I think?), Roni's head, and Koda who were all previously loved. Roni's body...brand new. And Dae brand new. So, I like both. There isn't much of a difference as long as the previous owner took good care of them!

      But really, I love previously loved dolls, because now they have a home where (unless something really dire happens) they will able able to stay put and be spoiled alot. :)

    13. I prefer previously loved dolls because of decreased shipping times(I ordered new from Luts and waited close to 6 weeks for my boy to ship), some of the previously loved dolls I bought had very pretty face ups and were well taken care of and were in like new condition.

    14. All my current dolls are second hand, except for my mi-no's head. I love 'em that way :). I don't know why, I just love working with another individual instead of big company to bring my dollies home. It feels more special that way and less like a "product" of a catalogue ^^;

      Although, this coming Christmas I will have a fresh boy (or two) from luts *_*! I'm nervous!

    15. I've got a pre-owned doll. As my first it was easiest and affordable, and I didn't have to wait forever. I do love him very much!

      I also look forward to getting a new one someday. I've got my eye on a Dollzone Hid (without the scars) but I'm researching to make sure that he's the one!

    16. All my dolls are pre-owned, however, I wouldn't be opposed to buying directly from companies. I'm quite impatient, so I don't think I could stand the wait!

    17. i feel bad for dolls that are being resold. it's like adopting a kid and then decideing you don't want a kid in my mind, but then again i am odd ^^;

    18. I'd love the opportunity to be able to buy pre-owned - as soon as I can access the marketplace!!!!! Aggggh! Can't WAIT!

    19. I feel that, should the quality of the doll be upheld, there is no problem with buying used. If the owner was responsible, and kept the doll in pristine quality, with no chips or ugly face-ups, then it is a deal! I like lurking in the marketplace so that I can make sure to catch the dolls which I want, but dont want new. New dolls are expensive to import and a general pain~!

    20. I got my Sydney(60cm Obitsu) used,and I couldn't be happier. Her previous owner took very good care of her. Plus she was less expensive,and came with tons of extras. I also gained a good friend,which is a big plus.
