1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. For me, it matters on what you are looking for.
For me, I am buying my first doll from Dollmore compared to finding it somewhere used, because it is my FIRST BJD.
On the other hand, I will be attempting to buy a pre-owned BJD for my Pyramid Head project.
So I will be buying a pre-owned SD body and a Pre-owned MSD head, hopefully I will be able to find someone to customize the BJD for me.
So to tell you the truth, I say it all matters onw hat you are looking for.

    2. I prefer buying from the company, as I'm paranoid of shelling out hundreds of dollars to a random person I don't know. I've also heard horror stories of the dolls smelling awful, or being not true to the description, etc.. Too scary for me! Clothes or shoes, it's fine to do because it's not like 500 dollars you're getting screwed out of, you know?

    3. I think I would like to get my dolls new but so far I have only adopted from broken homes. I have been pleased and excited by both and the next to be a wonderful experience also.

    5. Well, I still have not received the only doll I'll have bought from the company, though although Verdandi was a gift, she was second-hand (though like new).

I'm thinking that getting my Dambi will be more exciting--the long wait just adds to the anticipation... and when I get him, opening up the nice new box... It just seems like it will be so exciting. *_*

It's like this with the other things I've bought new, anyway... haha...

    6. Two of my dolls were new from the company and one pre-owned. I'm not sure where the next one will be from - most likely from the company, because I haven't seen anyone here or on ebay selling such a doll. But I have to say that if I had a choice, I'd rather have a pre-owned doll. Not a new doll. A doll that was played with. I just like them. There is somehow more personality in them than in new dolls. I think it's good that I'm not a perfectionist and I don't mind 'traces of use' on a doll.
However, I have to say that buying a pre-owned doll is much more wrecking on the nerves than buying from a company. The deal I had with buying a doll went perfectly smoothly and fast, and I still was nervous. And when I read about problematic transactions, people waiting for their dolls for months - I feel terriefied something like this might happen.

    7. Mmmm...I actually haven't bought from a doll company, but...I'm getting my WS Hound for Xmas ((six days!!!)), and I bought him off of DoA. It took no time at all for him to arrive, and his previous owner gave me all the information I asked for as far as posibility, condition, and so on. Anything I asked! It was a lot faster than a company, and the communication was lovely!

Another great thing about buying second hand! I know my Seraphinius was sold to me because his previous owner didn't like his large size and that he didn't "fit in" with the rest of her doll family. Seeing him come to my house, I know he'll be uber loved and watched after! So even though he's moving from one family to another, he's still being taken care of, and will get all the attention he needs!

Hmm...I do intend on purchasing some future dolls from companies, but I won't cease to hunt around the marketplace here ^^

    8. New from the company, but I will always consider a pre-owned doll. The thing is, I seem to have very clear ideas of what a doll should look like, so I'd either want to buy it with the default face-up or no face-up at all. So far I've bought all my dolls (3, already sold 2...) with out a face-up so I could do it myself or send the doll to a customizer.

My problem with pre-owned dolls is that they always seem to 'look' like their previous owner (stylewise), especially if they've had a non-default face-up. So I guess I'm a tiny bit neurotic about the doll looking like me, not the person who owned it before... I know, face-ups can be wiped and everything, but the doll will have had a previous life before it came to me and that, for some reason, bothers me. As if it didn't fully belong to me in the first place...

I am looking for a previously owned Soom Aren right now, she's an exception, for some reason it doesn't matter if she's previously owned or not.

    9. Um.. I think new for me, because I have trouble getting attached to things that have been owned by someone else. It might sound weird, but I think it's because I'm possessive and like things to belong only to me and have a history only with me. Hahaha I sound like a crazy stalker or something. Buuut I guess that's how I show my love. XD

    10. A few of the dolls I want - particularly Breakaway - I'm going to have to buy second hand, but I would prefer them new. I think I'd find it harder to customise a doll that someone else has already worked on and put effort into. I mean, yeah, it's reasonable to assume that they no longer love the doll if they're selling it, but I think I'd still feel a little bad erasing all their hard work. But that's just me.

    11. Well, I had to buy my first doll brand new.
However, I am willing to buy anything after second hand. Like now, I am looking for a Ninodoll Bada head (which will probably be used) --coughhelp mecough--

But I think I'd rather by limited edition dolls brand new, to get the full satisfaction xDD

    12. I've often had the chance to buy a pre-owned doll which had been sold by their first owners quite soon after they had got the doll. So that's as good as buying them new from the company - just cheaper and faster.

Most of my dolls are pre-owned. That way I saved a lot of money and all dolls were in perfect condition except for one which had damaged lashes. But that one did cost 1/2 of what a new doll would have cost and included lots of items like wigs, shoes and clothes. And new lashes aren't very expensive.

So if the doll is a lot cheaper and in good condition I'd buy a pre-owned doll. If they would cost the same as if they were new and aren't in any way special (face-up, for example) I'd buy from the company.

    13. I would like to say it wouldn't matter to me but with Bory, absolutely, he's got to be new so I can be the first one and only one to have a connection with him. With other dolls, I don't think I'd care if they were pre-owned or new but I would most likely go for pre-owned if only because they were cheaper and have the kinks worked out. ^^; But the ones that I want to put the most effort into, do all by myself, then yup, new. *nodnod*

    14. I like buying from the company just because I can customize them. I know I could remove the face up and everything from a pre-owned doll but I'm not confident with my skills yet so I'm gonna wait until I have a bit more practice before I get up the courage to buy pre-owned.

    15. Personally I prefer to get my doll first hand from the company instead of getting it 2nd hand. I felt that it's easier to bond with the doll first hand~ XD

But otherwise I don't really mind getting a second hand one provided its limited and its near impossible to get in directly from the company.

    16. I prefer newer dolls, it doesn't matter if they're secondhand as long as they're fairly new.

This is mostly because when I buy I doll I intend to keep them, forever, or at least for many, many years.
So I think the doll will age better (or at least the way I want them to age) if I get them as new as possible :)

And I must admit I would have some bonding issues with a preloved doll, it be weird to take over someone
elses character and make it my own. It that case I'd probably need to do a total makeover on the doll to feel
      that it was really mine.

    17. When it's possible, I prefer buy it in the shop.
If it's not possible and I really need the doll, I would buy a pre-owned one ^^

    18. It depends.
I got my dolls form both company and 2nd-handed.
I don't mind yellowing or light scratches, if I can get a pre-owned doll in a better price.
Yet, sometimes pre-owned dolls are more expensive.... :(

    19. i have only one doll, a new doll got from company. but i don't mind if a pretty doll is second-hand.

    20. I voted pre-owned.
Mainly because USUALLY you get them with the kinks worked out
but company dolls are more special, as you're the first one to have them XD
