1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I'd only ever bought new dolls, until I bought a Dollzone Nina, second hand. Only... I didn't bond with her like I did my other dolls. I don't know if that was because she was not new, though I doubt it, but I ended up selling her to one of my really good friends - so that I can still see her if I want to, but she now lives with someone who loves her like she deserves.

I think for now, I'm going to stick with new dolls, unless it really is a doll that I can't find anywhere else.

    2. new, used, don't matter. just depends on which way is easier for me to get'em. i have 2.5 second hand. and 1.5 new.

    3. Best thing about buying second-hand? Less of a waiting time. I find that if the 'wear' from being previously loved is minimal, such as a few small scratches that can easily be sanded away, there's really no point in going for a pristine-fresh company doll. A few times you can find GREAT deals second-hand, too, which is a bit of a plus. So I guess I prefer "previously loved" dolls. My girl, Lunetta, was bought second-hand from another member here on DoA. I have yet to find another MSD who really catches my eye quite as much as her. x3

    4. My first doll was second hand and I just didn't bond with him well at all. So much so that I'm worrying about the Breakaway that I've bought which is truly rediculous.

I think I'll go for as new from now on. It just has a special feel to it... with my other boy I never felt like he was completely mine because he wasn't made for me.

    5. I have 2 dolls straight from the companies and 1 that was previously owned that isn't quite home yet. I liked dealing with the previously owned doll. It was fun, in a weird business type way. XD

The companies didn't talk to me, I like that contact.

    6. I prefer new. But when my favorite dolls are out of stock or too expensive, I'll choose pre-owned dolls~~

    7. I have two pre owned and two new. It doesn't make a difference to me, though I had some trouble removing Hiroji's old face up. Pre owned don't have the wait, which is nice.

    8. As long as I get the doll I want, I don't mind owning pre owned dolls. Actually I bought most of my dolls from different sellers on DoA and never had any kinds of problems.
Especially the limited editions are impossible to buy from the store once they are sold out so buying them secondhand is the only option. Also giving a home to a previously owned and loved doll makes me happy. :)

    9. i have 5 pre owned dolls and one i bought new.

i love buying pre owned dolls they have more character i think :)

    10. i would love to get a preowned dolls if i can find one i like. since i hate the pain of ordering online, customs, shippings and all that stuff. A pre-owned doll would definitely make it easier~

plus u can always call the previous owner for help and maybe earn a friend in return =D

    11. I would have no problem with a previously owned doll. In fact, I'd probably prefer one. It not only would add to the personality, it would give it extra history.

    12. For me either are fine.... 1/2 of my boys are previously loved and 1/2 are fresh from the pouring tanks LOL

    13. I like the idea of the new BJD much more than the previously owned, just because, you can safely know that only people of the company of touched it so far. So it gives security, but you know, there are some dolls which you have to buy previously owned, just because they are no longer being made and out of stock. That would make a great deal of sense to me.

    14. No preference. Depends on the doll ~

    15. Either! My OD Tae is second-hand, but the Puki's will be brand-new - when they get here (oh, i hate the wait. . .)

    16. I would love to find a second hand doll I could buy. I think it gives it an extra something, and I'd know I wouldn't break it as soon as I touched it. Plus if I have a question I might be able to ask the person who'd had it- if they're still talking to me after all my dumb FAQs.

    17. A second hand doll would be a cheaper way to start the hobby or to practice on..

    18. I prefer new ^___^ But then I haven't bought a doll second hand before so I don;t really know? o.o; Though if I had an option, I would prefer to buy it straight from the company oAo

    19. I'm never had a doll before. My first will be new and fresh. I wonder what it will be like. I just have this really bad habbit of thinking that the only dolls I want are by Volks. I have to wait until the end of August for my doll to arrive.

    20. I have and like both. In fact, one of my dolls is a fresh-from-the-factory head with a pre-owned body.
