1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. As long as it's the doll I want, and any and all damage is disclosed by the previous owner, it doesn't matter to me. :)
I have both new and preowned dolls, but I think the majority of my dolls are either straight from the manufacturer or bought from someone who had bought them for the purpose of resale.

    2. My first doll, Kaet, is a new doll. The second doll I hope comes in the mail tomorrow is bought second hand. You have to be careful about buying second hand. You really need to know who the person is you're buying from. Just what kind of seller are they? And that's where the feedback threads help. There's nothing wrong with buying the doll second hand. It saves money, and like others have said, you can sometimes get some really cool items along with the doll and a unique faceup. :)

    3. Since I've only really owned one new doll, I wouldn't knwo about previes.

But, I can say, the thought of having one is really intriguing. I see it much like adopting or becoming a new parent. I'd still love the doll dearly. I think I'd like to own one someday.

    4. i like both. for me i fall in love with them when i see their photos both new and used. If i like her/him at first glance i know it's a good find.

    5. I prefer new, but if it was the case for a LE doll, than I wouldn't mind if it was previously owned. :)

    6. To be honest, I prefer buying new dolls. But if a certain doll I wanted was sold out, then I'd have no choice but to buy it second hand. Most of my 'second hand' dolls that I bought from the secondary market were still untouched brand new fullsets, so I guess it's still considered like new, right?

    7. New ones all the way. I don't like the idea of having stranger energy in my home.
Only exception is limited and sold out dolls, no other chance^^

    8. Interesting point...i wonder if they do carry an energy of sorts from previous owners...i have never felt this from my gang at all...but i can see your point absolutely xx

    9. I have non-BJD dolls and they're a mix of previously owned and new. I've found that when I'm first getting into a hobby (be it dolls or whatever), I like buying pre-owned stuff so I can see if it's something I'm really going to like. After that, it really just depends on where I can find stuff and how much it costs and the like.

    10. I don't actually have a preference. It's more about me falling in love with the dolly.

    11. It doesn't matter much to me, I'd love them both equally! :D
I suppose the advantage of buying second hand is the cost but having a brand new doll, knowing that you are the first owner is also special in itself :3

    12. As of right now I have only a NEW-ly bought one. But from now on I want previously owned because I don't really like the wait or that new resin smell. *_*

    13. I am very particular about things like this personally. I like to have something band new and untouched. I also like to be the first person to watch a movie I have bought... or I like to be the first one to crack a new book of mine. With my dolls I love the fact that I was probably the first person to hear the squeak of the joints and to brush their hair out of their eyes. Those are special moments to me.

    14. At the moment every doll I own and both my incomming dolls are all second hand. Seven second hand dolls! The main reason why is that I am a Volks fan living in England, so its pretty hard for me to get the volks limiteds brand new.

The other reason is because I always check the market place and if I find a doll I want for a good deal on the market place then I can't resist.

I don't mind buying regular dolls second hand, but for the volks limiteds, I really wish I could have the opportunity to be the first owner, get the doll direct from volks and just revel in the fantasticalness of it all.

    15. I have two previously owned dolls (and a head) and two new dolls on order.

With the previously owned dolls, there was the attraction of getting them within a few days once I decided to buy them! And they were being sold in the UK so no customs charges, which is always a bonus.
For the two I have on order, I would have been happy to buy them pre-owned if they had been available at the time, but as I am getting them new I decided to get them without face-ups so i could have a go at doing my own. But I don't think that will make them more special to me, just special in a different way.
Basically, as long as I get the doll I want, I don't care where he/she came from!

    16. I first thought new because sometimes dolls double or worse triple their original price. I am fine with a second hand doll if in new condition expecially if they have a custom face up I love. There are dolls I would love to have that are just not for sale anymore so I will have to settle for preowned in that circumstance. I guess I will take what I can get.

    17. I don't mind new dolls, but I think I'd much rather "adopt" second-hand dolls if you know what I mean. :P

    18. I've always liked second-hand toys. It feels like I'm "rescuing" them. It's part of the reason I always adopt my animals from animal shelters instead of pet stores if I can. All of our dogs and our cats are rescue cases! =D

I saw this really pretty girl on ebay that I wanted very badly. >.> She was old, the owner didn't say what company/sculpt she was, and she was slightly yellowed, but I wanted her. Guess I'm just a softy for previously owned dolls, too.

    19. It depends really. I think the feeling of getting a fresh doll which was made all for yourself would be wonderful. :) Like a blank canvas where you can have memories and different experiences with.

But with previously loved, why not? If they were in pristine condition, I really wouldn't mind. To think that the doll had a past life or has a history is quite interesting.

    20. I'm sure they do and I appreciate your understanding and interest *smiling warmly*

And please excuse my poor english. If I learned it harder I could tell you more concerning the question, but I didn't...
