1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. The important thing to me is having the dolls themselves, not how they come to me. I'll usually try and get a new doll directly from the company, but with quite a few of my dolls that were either discontinued or limiteds, so if I wanted them I needed to get them second-hand. As soon as they arrive and get taken out of their box they're all exactly the same to me, though: mine, whether brand-new or pre-loved :3nodding:

    2. Initially I like them "fresh- out- of- the- box", but considering the costs I don't mind buying second-hand either. But I have a soft spot for totally new dolls- make me feel like they are more mine is some way:love

I'm thinking of buying my first doll as a "congratulations" to myself since I just got a job after finishing up 5 years of studying and I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy her new :)

    3. Out of all my dolls I have two that were previously owned. Frankie my DZ Yuu was my first ever doll and I have recently found that he had been hanging around waiting to be sold for a long time before I saw him. I guess he was meant for me because as soon as I saw him it was true love!

I'd love to rehome more previously owned dolls simply because it makes me so sad to see people selling their dolls. I just feel that all dolls need to be loved :)

    4. it doesnt really matter to me, i love my dolls either way :D

    5. All of my dolls are brand new from the company, but recently I've really started to like the idea of giving an unwanted doll a new home. So I've decided that in the future, once I've chosen out what my next doll will be I'll do a marketplace search here on DoA first to see if there is one for sale before I go and order direct from the company. :)

    6. Both of my girls are previously owned, and I like it that way. I don't have to deal with the super-long wait from the company! And plus, prices are a liiiiittle bit better from individuals sometimes!

    7. I say both!
I found my Mimi13 (my first doll) on eBay. My Elfdoll Ryung I purchased from the DOA marketplace, and my little Alice Cherry Blossom piggy was obtained through a trade. All perfect transactions.
My other dolls were all bought direct from the companies.

I'm not fussy either way - each method has it's good and bad points. My main issue with buying brand new dolls is the wait time... but then, it's sorta exciting too.

    8. My Sapphira's a new purchase, but one of my friends is looking to buy her first doll previously-loved off of the DoA Marketplace. ^^

    9. the "blank canvas" thing of a new doll is a little daunting to me, I love receiving a pre-owned doll that sometimes has a bit of fluff in their ears or a chipped manicure or in a recent event a dried rose inside her head, its like they already have a bit of an imprint on them and they WANTED to be owned by you.... saying that I personally have never had a "character" that I had to get a specific doll for, all of my dolls have developed their characters in their time with me.

    10. I have two previously owned dolls, and three newly made. Either way, it doesn't matter to me. If I like the doll, I buy it. :)

    11. Both are fine. I bought one new and three were previously loved or unloved as the case may be. If it wasn't for the previously loved or unloved dolls, I would not have four, I would still have one.

    12. I only own two dolls that I got fresh from the company, but I see no problem in someday buying a pre-loved doll from someone who can no longer give that doll a good home.

    13. I have some of each and love them all. It is true that the previously owned ones seem more "at home" with me when I get them. The new ones take a little time to get comfortable. At least that is how I see it.

    14. My doll is previously owned. She's a hybrid; the head came from one seller in the marketplace. I don't think it had ever been used, since the face was completely blank. The body, however, has had at least one, possibly two previous owners, and was heavily modded. Still waiting for that to arrive. Hopefully she'll be here soon; she was rush shipped from Denmark yesterday!

    15. I'd rather have a used one, because I'm so new to the hobby I'm afraid getting a new doll will be like the blind leading the blond. XD But, alas, I'm impatient and couldn't find any up for sale (still a ridiculous noob 'round here), so my on-the-way first girl *antsy-dance* is going to be brand new.

    16. I have both, and I don't really have a preference...though I do like the lessened wait time with buying dolls secondhand.

    17. It doesn't honestly matter to me. If it was easier to find and buy pre-owned dolls that I like I'd buy all my dolls second hand. As much as a love brand new dolls I also like taking in dolls that someone doesn't want or need anymore.

My room's already filled with porcelain dolls my friends have given me. I'm like a doll shelter. xD

    18. I own both new and previously loved dolls and I love both equally!

The nice new shiny feeling is great, but the wait times! Gah!

The marketplace offers the chance to get your doll *right now* (well, almost) and that's wonderful. And as long as the seller is honest about the condition of the doll you're buying, there should be no surprise 'flaws' :D

    19. I prefer company dolls.
They are fresh without a past life. So I can start with a 'blank paper' for their personality.

And although it is also killing, but I like the nerves of saving up ordering a doll, the long wait and then the shipping. ;)

    20. i like both^^
some i want to buy new, but sometimes i see dolls on the marketplace which look better than on the official site XD
