    1. I feel that as long as it's what you want then it should be ok. I doubt your going to leave your doll exactly how it came forever. Your going to be customizing it eventually. But that's also just me assuming. Sorry...

    2. I personally like my dolls bald and nekkid! lol- that's just because I'm getting them as characters of mine more than as dolls- I don't like having to spend ages looking for the perfect fullset- especially since pretty much nothing in it will be exactly the way I want it. I do however, like certain outfits and wigs that dolls are shown in- so if it's an option (and I'm not already going broke >.<') then I'd get the outfit or the wig with the doll- but I find that fullsets have too much going on for me- and not enough ME in them- (obviously Xd) I joined this hobby entirely for the benefits of customization, and having fnally perfected (or gotten close to perfecting) my faceup skillz, I'm happy with that. I make my own dolls clothes and to date have only bought shoes and wigs for my boys ^_^
That's just the way I do it though- so do whatever feels best- that's what it's all about!!!

    3. I don't think it's less personal at all. If I saw a full package doll that I liked, I'd definitely get it. Even when I buy dolls that are bald and naked, I usually ending buying clothes and wigs and stuff at the same time to go with them (if I don't already have what I want for them), because I'm already picturing them that way. It doesn't matter if you customize it after getting it or not, I think it's fine, as long as they are what you want ^-^

    4. I think it depends on the owner honestly.

Some dolls I like the full sets of because of the outfits they come with. Like DOC Petsha, love her dress so I'd rather order her full set then just the regular doll. Then there are other dolls that I like how they look in the picture but I want to change some things. Like the eyes or wig, when I make the spreadsheet for the dolls I want (( Yep, spreadsheet. Helps me keep track of the cost )) I almost always order different eyes or a different wig because I don't want the random thing or I just want the doll a certain way. I don't feel less personal about making the decision to do that though but other people might feel a completely different way.

    5. I love BJDs for their customization, so I have no desire to order full sets. I'm cheap... I don't want to pay for a costume that my doll won't wear in the future. Same with wigs, eyes, etc. I'd prefer to buy them "naked".

However, just because that's not my cup of tea doesn't mean I think that buying them that way is "any less personal." To each their own! :) Some of them come with adorable outfits and accessories.

    6. And sometimes that is the ONLY way to get a doll. I have a Volks Maki. He has NEVER been in his suit that he came with. I haven't sold it cause I like keeping the fullsets as fullsets. And who knows? One day he might wear it. But most of mine aren't fullsets. Soom gives the option of purchasing everything or just what you want with their Monthly dolls. So it varies.

    7. I've never personally bought a full set due to price, but there have been some that definitely appeal to me. I think if you like it you should get it! It doesn't make it any less personal, because the doll is still yours to play with and change as you see fit.

    8. I bought Roo as a basic and as he was my first doll, it was a bit of a struggle at first to bond with him, because despite his being so cute... he was nekkie. There was no personality there yet, just a blank, and the character I THOUGHT he was going to be just wasn't coming to light. It was a good four months before I finally got the clothing and eyes to let that come out.

For my SD, I bought a DZ Chen Scribe (who I should FINALLY be getting at the end of the month) with the thought that, when he got here, I'd at least have a fully dressed doll, and if it turned out that his eyes and wigs didn't work out, or his clothing doesn't match his emerging personality, it could get sold later. In the meantime, I wouldn't have naked doll.

It worked out in the end, as for a while, he was very much going to fit the look the full set has, but as time has gone on, he's changed, developed and I already have different eyes and a wig in mind for him. I don't regret buying the full set however, as it's going ot be some time before I can get them all together, and in the meantime, I won't have a nekkie doll. :)

    9. Same with how I feel. I have a fullset doll-incoming and I bought it cos I really liked what she was wearing in her pictures.

I will do stuff to her (change her wig/eyes/outfit) after, but I still like the idea that I can have her in the way I first fell in love with her that is, with her fullset option. :)

    10. I buy full set dolls if that's the only way I can buy a particular doll that I want. I've bought four dolls that were only available as full sets. I sold the clothes separately for two of the dolls, sold another one as a full set when I found a doll I liked better, and still have the accessories for the fourth doll, although she doesn't wear them. I much prefer to buy naked dolls and put their clothes and accessories together myself.

    11. I buy because I love, and if that means buying a full package, so be it. As a new collector, I find it reassuring to be able to know exactly what the doll will look like and now have to worry about finding a face up artist or honing my own skills for my first doll. Besides, it's not like even fullest dolls will forever remain in the same outfit and wig (at least not mine), so they are still unique individuals.

That being said, i just ordered some dolls without faceups and I look forward to customizing their faceups to my taste either through a face up artist, or by my own hand.

Sometimes it's also a better value to go for a fullset if you really love the faceup and outfit.

    12. Personally, it depends on the doll.
When I bought my DOD E-an, I bought her "full package" as it were (with her outfit and everything) for some of the same reasons you like to buy full package dolls. I wanted to make sure she had an outfit that looked good on her, a wig, and all that.
Ofcourse now I have a TON of outfits/wigs/eyes for her and my next girl doll won't be a full set one cause I really don't care for the outfit and she can share E-ans clothes.

But ofcouse if you like nothing but full sets, by all means go for it! :)

    13. It's all a matter of personal choice. Sometimes it's worth getting a full set, just because you have a good starting point. You get a wig that suits the sculpt, and a good outfit that suits and fits it too. Yes the dolls are highly customisable, but they don't HAVE to be. If you like the full set and think it's beautiful, then it's your choice. It's not impersonal at all! You made the choice to get the full set, and it's not like you'd love the doll any less.

    14. I have to disagree with you here. Just because you are getting a fullset doesn't make it any less personal because, as silly as it may seem, all dolls are individual (rather like children). They develop different personalities and traits. How we portray one doll is different to how someone else will portray the same mold. You could have a line of dolls, all wearing the same wig, eyes, face-up and clothes, and I bet to the owners they are all different to the other. I am getting a fullset Cass and because of the personality and back-story I am giving her, she will be very personal to me. Yes, others will have the same dress as her, but that doesn't bother me.

Use RL as an example. Just because someone has the same name as you doesn't make it any less personal to you.

      Just my opinion though

    15. There is no right or wrong way. If you like the doll in it's full package form then that is customized to you. ^__^ Not everyone is going to want their doll the same way. Plus, as soon as you change their clothing (even for a day) then it is customized to you anyway right? So as long as you enjoy the aesthetics of your doll then full package or not it is going to be enjoyable.

    16. i mostly wouldn't buy a fullset doll because im a tightwad. the only thing extra i want to buy a doll is shoes and eyes. maybe a wig once in a while... but if i had money i would buy the hid boy from dollzone. i love his ninja outfit.

but buying a fullset doll doesn't make you love it any less or anything like that...

    17. If I had the money I'd be more inclined to buy full package dolls. I'm not very good at sewing so having a doll come with clothes is definitely more attractive to me. Anyways, I don't think buying them is any less creative or personal because you can always mix and match pieces of the outfit!

    18. I usually like customizing too. For almost all my dolls I have done the face-ups myself, made some dreadwigs, sewn their clothes, etc etc. So they are really unique.
But I do have 1 fullset and I do have 2 soom dolls which came with their outfits and original eyes (no face-ups or bodyblush, so not really a fullset).

For the fullset doll, which is my dollmore ha-yarn cho white vulpes, I just LOVED the way she looks. I just don't want to change anything about her. I know that there are more white vulpeses around which look completely the same. Fortunately they are few in number. But I don't consider her less personal. That's because she still has a background story which is different from the other white vulpeses. So that's her personal part. And name ofcourse.

So I don't have problems with fullsets. If you order a doll which you like and it comes with clothes and a face-up that you like, why change it? :)
The abjd hobby is just for personal fun. You don't HAVE to customize things if you don't want that.

    19. Having a full set doll is very good for a begineer to understand how to dress this doll~ but the problem is there might be many full sets in the world so you can't be guaranteed urs the only one in the world to dress the doll like this. I used to have a full set doll before, the reason why i bought it because I really love its clothe and pleased with the doll as well~ of course, the clothes which I loved is now not belongs to this doll, I gave it to another doll in my family and I thought its pretty lovely as well^^

    20. i agree with AerynAerie. there is no right or wrong way.
but to me it is less personal and i cant do it anymore... of all my dolls, only 3 were full sets. the first one i ordered ended being the first doll i just couldnt bond with and sold. the other two i either split and got rid of the clothes immediately or just didnt buy the outfit. i didnt want to have the same issues with them i had with my first girl.
