    1. For myself I do think it's less personal.. but you've got to do what you want.
If you really like the mold and clothes/wig or whatever you should just buy it ;)
But I really like to 'make' my own doll, looking for clothes, doing the face-up and stuff, keeps me busy and lets me know the doll more, and get more attached to them :)
      But that's for everyone different.

    2. I don't think it's less personal in any way. If the choice of the wig, eyes, etc. that was done by company appeals to you, what difference does it make ? My first boy was a fullset, I loved his face-up, wig and clothes, and I love them still, but it didn't stop me from buying him new wigs and clothes and changing them in regular way - I'm getting bored pretty fast, so he does't have one final look, style of clothes and so on. He does have his character and story, which justifies those constant changes. So in my opinion either way is equally good and equally personal.

    3. I absolutely do not feel it is less personal. It just means other people will have a doll that is almost identical to yours but no dolls are really the same.

As of right now the only fullset I am keeping as is is because she came exactly what I wanted for her. Its as is the company read my mind and made the perfect little bugger for me > w<

But most of the time I'll change some things... Its only appearance anyway... The outfit doesn't make the whole doll =3

    4. I personally bought a full set a while ago because it was available that way and I didn't really care too much about it, but this doesn't make the doll (an anthro) less personal(ized) than the... four other dolls I had bought blank, without clothes or wigs. The doll instantly became a rather charismatic character that is recognized by people if they follow my photoshoots.
With time, I will definitely change clothes and the faceup, but right now I'm just happy with the way it is, sitting prettily on my shelf or appearing on photos (:

    5. I don't think it's less personal to buy full package, but I wouldn't, simply because they're expensive and I'm cheap. :|
Also, full package is less unique than picking out all the various components of a doll's appearance. I like to pick out hair/wigs/clothes. It gives the doll more meaning and personality.

    6. I have... three full-package dolls! :D

I enjoy buying full-package dolls because then I don't have to worry about clothes or wigs for the doll (also, because the default clothes for them are usually pretty awesome!). I remember I built a hybrid doll, and for a while he didn't have a lot of suitable clothes, and I really don't like my dolls being nude because I don't have the money to buy them clothes. So! I like the full sets. XD

    7. I'm in the same boat with the people who like full sets as a starting point. Have I purchased one? No, mostly due to money issues. However, it makes sense to at least have some clothing for your doll. This is especially true if you don't already own a doll of the same size.

    8. I don't think that it's less personal(although in terms of "bonding" with the doll, maybe). I will gladly buy a fullset if I like it, but I like basic dolls because I can customize them however I want and I have the control to put everything together just how I invision it. With a fullset, sometimes you have to worry about what you're going to do with that one thing that you don't like. ^^

I also like what Lixxie said~

    9. Ok, now this might sound really weird but I love buying fullset and totally taking it apart??? I received one doll full set and I just loved getting all those goodies and later packing them away? I wiped his face and started from scratch. Now granted he is a limited doll so it is not like he was a full set version of a stocked doll but still...I found the satisfaction I got out of this process a bit odd.

I think I like the idea that he still retains a touch of his old persona. It's like a shadow of his former self still haunts my doll drawer. However, now he has transformed into my Laine and I was the one responsible for that crazy transformation. The comparison makes my customization feel more weighty. I know that sounds silly.

    10. Yes... I personally have never cared for fullset dolls OR character dolls because I feel they lack customization, and yet, my "one true dream doll" is a fullset AND a character doll... It's a long story, but she defies a lot of my BJD standards (like the fact that I don't care for Volks and she's a Volks doll or that I prefer minis and tinies but she's an SD...)

    11. Sometimes I just fall for the whole package. Other times for the sculpt. I think that's what so great about this hobby. There's no right or wrong answer and there's something in it for everyone, both the creative types and those who enjoy the "look" of a doll the way it turns out in the full package. So, whatever you like go for it!

    12. I fell in love with a doll that's shown with an outfit on the site, but isn't sold as a fullset. The only time she was released as a "full set" was her limited edition, which kinda makes me sad. I actually like her basic faceup better than her limited faceup, to be honest, though I still would've bought her fullset limited edition in a heartbeat if I'd had the funds when I found out about her.

    13. I've never bought a full set before, usually because the basic dolls are much cheaper and unless I really love every single item they come with then I feel that it's not worth it.
I wouldn't worry about feeling "less creative" or anything. If you like a particular doll / full set, then get them!
I know what you mean about wanting face-ups and clothes to be ready though... So far I've always got the company face-up and I'll have at least one outfit waiting for them.

    14. While I didn't actually get a fullset, but I did get both the doll and the clothes, I'm just ordering eyes and wig from some other place. I love how the clothes looks, and it's nice to have something you know will fit your character.

I don't see anything wrong with buying fullsets, and while I intend to play around with faceup and as I said got wig and eyes from another place, I think it's perfectly fine to get a fullset, if that's the doll you like. Sometimes, they can look truly amazing, and I have been tempted by several myself.

    15. I'm waiting on two dolls, one of which is a full set, the other is just the doll, but I bought clothes for her, and I got her default faceup.

I think it depends on personal preference.
I'm planning to edit the faceup on the full set, and if her wig and eyes aren't the colors I need the I'll order new ones, but I love the outfit (even if I liked the other one in the pictures more).
The one I'm not getting in full set it was the faceup + the sculpt that I fell in love with. But even if I got the full set I would have had to buy wigs and other outfits, she wouldn't have come with a wig.

    16. There was no full package concept for Aster, Elfkins ship nekid with random eyes. The full package Luka I want from Fairyland just happens to be exactly the sort of thing that doll's character would wear, and that makes it all the more personal, in his case. The DZ Cosmo I want, I don't actually want the full package, because the clothes aren't "him", the character he will be the doll for.

    17. I think it's a little less personal, actually, yeah... Part of the thrill of collecting for me is the project of putting the doll together. Eyes, wigs, shirts, pants, shoes etc. all coming from various places or from the MP help make my dolls uniquely personal and give me an opportunity to get creative and have fun putting it all together. I've seen gorgeous fullsets, and I love looking at them (and I totally want to win that Regen!) but I don't really like the idea of 1) tons of people having the exact same looking doll and 2) not being able to really customize it further.

Plus the elevated price is a turn off for me, I like being able to buy second hand stuff on the MP (it's not like a person wore the stuff, so who cares lol) at cheaper prices and I'd never pay 100 bucks extra for an outfit.

    18. I don't think it's less personal; if you like the whole look then get it! The fullset doll I'm getting is a great starting point for the character/style idea in my head, so she will still get wig and clothes changes like the other two. Since I really like her face-up and her eyes are perfect, I won't change those.

    19. full set dolls - its not like the outfit with the wig are hot glued on the doll. not like the character the company thinks is "hot glued" to the doll either. the doll can be whatever you want it to be.
plus, you can always sell the set anf keep the doll if the idea distracts you. Its just usually cheaper than buying all the pieces of the set separately/....

    20. For me it would be less personal - I have a complex about my stuff being mine :sweat - and even when I get fullsets I make sure they don't wear much of the stuff they came with. However, for example, if you were a big fan of a Volks storyline, and really wanted a fullset Reisner, it would be very personal to bring that boy home fullset. Or a Dollfie Dream character doll from your favourite anime would mean a lot, too. I'm just using Volks as an example because some Volks fans are very fond of the sculpts/storylines as they are labelled by Volks.
