It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Buying more dolls when you still have unfinished ones

Feb 3, 2013

    1. I don't have a lot of dolls but so far yes!! If I see one I need in the meantime I will break my rule of waiting a few months and buy him anyways! Probably not best for my savings but I am just addicted to the feeling of buying them.

    2. At the moment I am right in the middle of giving one doll a complete makeover while making a custom wig for another, with a headless body and a floating head also bumping around. To be frank, it's stressful--especially because these projects have a tendency to spill over into my bedroom and hang-out areas so they are always right in my face. But if I had the money and the opportunity presented itself, I would still be buying the next doll on the list right this minute.

Maybe this is because the list is finite. Maybe I'm just impatient. The beauty of doll customization is that when things get too much, you can just shove them into a cabinet until you're ready to finish them. I'm just not always willing to do that. I tend to work on many different things a little bit at a time, but I have faith it'll all get done eventually... I guess. :sweat

    3. Sometimes I ordered/adopted dolls, even my old one was still incomplete (T^T)... Some of them still had to get a face up from artist and some still had no their own clothing. My poor doll family :D But I'm glad that now all my dolls are almost complete.

    4. My girl's head hasn't arrived yet and I've found it difficult to ignore the thoughts about buying another. I really try to not be impulsive and so far I haven't bought anything new or that isn't for my girl. I guess for her to be complete, she should have her faceup, eyes, wig and maybe a few outfits. It might be awhile before I get another doll :sweat but at least I won't have to worry about her being incomplete. I'm terrible at finishing things unless I have a deadline set.

    5. Constantly)) It is an endless process :)

    6. It used to bother me but it doesn't anymore! I have seriously regretted passing on limited dolls that I loved because I didn't feel I could get to them for a while. On the other hand, there is something to be said about having too many unfinished dolls around. I do my own faceups and it takes ages, so there are some dolls that I quite like and I've had for at least a year who still don't have faceups. If it's a standard doll, however, I prefer to wait until I get a bit caught up.

    7. The minute I bought my bjd, I closed the window and went looking at others for potential future ownage. ;D

Teileaf I think that's an amazing process you have there XD (I'm pretty much the same really)

I tend to prefer buying dolls with the default company faceups. Mostly because I fell in love with the faceup+mold and not just the mold.
In my second dolls case it's a little different. I fell in love with the head. And I knew it had to be my rp character.
Having it with the default faceup was never an option to begin with, so in that case yes I had to buy it blank. And in the future I will have an amazing face up by a faceup artist.
Yet my second doll hasn't even arrived yet, but while I had to buy a body for him, I bought a third doll.

So yeah, I do get new dolls even though the other one isn't finished (or here)

(And I still tend to watch out for new ones, because there are too many pretty gems out there)

Artre srsly doe, I just unlocked the marketplace. I'm preparing for tumbleweeds rolling through my paypal.

    10. None of my dolls are finished per say and I have six so you can imagine I've run into this problem a lot :XD: my doll buying has stopped for a while now so I'm starting on finally finishing up a few before I choose to buy anymore

    11. I could see myself using that as a good reason to not buy another doll: because I haven't finished one yet. I am currently waiting on my first two dolls, so I didn't even wait until I had my first one! It will be fun having the option to play around with looks for both of my dolls. Until then, I can plan. :)

    12. Hi I want to tell about my incompleted collection:
I have 16 dolls, only 6 with face-up, the other are blank but all of sixteen need a wig or clothing, and more accesories. I try to buy their things but when I have money, every time a cute or really cool cheap doll, or a wishlist doll appear at the marketplace and for one or more reasons I fall in love(normally are a limited or discontinued Bjd).
I don't have much time for the hobby, for sew clothes, learn to do face-ups or customize because I study at the mornings and I 'work' in the evenings.

I think what finish my dolls are so far(far away). And my collection/family grows.:sweat

    13. I've 2 'finished' dolls and 4 unfinished. They just need face ups. I was planning to do them this year when the weather is good but discovered early on that I didn't have all the tools needed. So that is postponed to next year. My main problem will be to find time to 'train' for it as I am pretty bad at it (tried to do a face up on a sleeping head, not good at all, at least I know now that I prefer paint brush to pencils). I have consequently bought 2 more dolls and I am looking forward to their arrival. I wish MSC or sealants weren't needed, they slow down everything. Either the weather isn't good (too humid) or there are people around (unsafe for them).

    14. Guilty as charged.
At a certain point I did forbid myself to get another doll before I finished the rest...fail.
Thing is that certain dolls are hard to finish. I can't find the right face or eyes or wig or clothes.... So I can sit and wait, or fall in love with yet another one.

    15. To be honest, I don't think any of my dolls will ever be finished. :sweat At least, to a point where I'd be satisfied with them. I'm always wanting to change their faceup, clothes, eyes, body blushing, etc. It's a struggle.

    16. I find it easier to get all the dolls first as some might be limiteds or be discontinued etc
Then, once I have all my blank canvas so to speak, I can concentrate on face-ups/clothes/eyes/etc
I've a fairly clear idea of what I wanna do and my wish list / plans are finalized, so I didn't see the point waiting to get the dolls now while I can. It's easier to get an outfit here and there than save up for a doll for months. I wanna get the big expenses out of the way first :D then I'll be free to concentrate and plan for clothes and wigs.
I do keep a couple of empty slots on my wish list (but only up to my absolute max number) in case an unexpected love-at-first-sight pops up, but other than that I'm pretty much done :)

    17. Since I often run into the 'problem' that despite ordering dolls months appart, they all insist on coming in bundles and thus arrive in about the same week, I can't avoid this even if I wanted to.
That said, I often have/had 'unfinished' dolls.
It did bother me at times, but I think this is a good thing, as it will give you a push into the 'do something against it' direction. Sometimes that is definitly needed.

Right now I don't have a nude/blank doll. But I'm in the middle of re-styling a few, so... Yeah :3

It didn't stop me from buying new dolls, but it definitly motivated me to do something against it ;)

    18. I currently have bought a new doll while another one (or two) weren't finished. Sometimes the waitingtimes for parts are pretty long and just because the company needs some time I don't see a thing that should stop me from working on another doll instead.

Actually I have 4 WiP dolls and I am going to buy a new head in begin of November... one doll waits that the artist says I can ship her off to the her, antoher one needs a body and then I bought a doll from a friend which I am splitting into two and yeah ... @_@ the head that will follow is one I really love to have (a limited event item) and I am happy that I will be able to get it. But after this I will be trying to complete everyone first before I decide to buy a new doll.

And: I do all the things I can do asap as I recieve the doll, sometimes their whole outfit is finished the day after I recieved the doll, but I can't paint them .. so I need to wait for the choosen artist to have slots open.

    19. I actually bought a new doll that is still on her way to me while my very first girl is not even done. In fact, I haven't even started on her due to lack of time and energy. I kind of feel sorry for her though, not a good feeling at all. I've been having bonding issues with her as well so buying another doll wasn't a very smart move of me at all. It was kind of an impulse buy as well since she was available for a limited time. She'll probably be available again later but I didn't want to wait for when that would happen.

In my defense, my current doll is a YOSD while the newcomer would be considered SD. I really want to have a few different dolls so I can discover which size has my preference. My YOSD girl has a perfect face-up but her wig and eyes are just not cutting it so I should do something about that soon. The incoming girl will be naked and bald since I have to save up some more to complete her look. Or atleast try to complete it because I'm so hard to please...

To make matters worse I already have my eye on two or three other dolls as well, I really have to reign myself in because sooner or later I'm going to be running into a wall or an empty wallet... *sigh*

    20. I didn't think I would get another doll before finishing my first but I already am and I couldn't be happier. I cant wait to work on them together.
