Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Buying your second BJD

May 4, 2009

    1. I bought my 2nd BJD after a bit over one year after my 1st. I was sure that I buy only one doll for a lifetime.
      But couldn't resist...
3rd and 4th followed a few weeks after. lol Now that's the time to stop for another year xDD

    2. I thought about getting my second doll when I got my first one.
The first one turned out to be so expensive though (and I had other priorities back then) so it wasn't until a year after, I got my second.
I'm kinda glad I waited that long between the first dolls, 'cause that gave me time to really make sure I choose the right doll ^^
I've never regretted purchasing any of my dolls, I have however sold two dolls because their characters wheren't strong enough. I didn't regret buying them and wish I could've kept them, but I thought it was a shame for such beautiful dolls to not get the attention they deserved.

    3. haha^^ I decided even before I knew which one would be my first one^^
I fell in love with crobi Lance, but I wanted a girl^^ I think I'll be getting him for my next birthday...which is in november xDD

    4. When I first discovered BJDs I quickly worked up a bit of a wishlist. Mostly they were unattainable (like SDgr Ryoya Konoe) because they were sold out or part of a lottery that had already happened, unless I paid a price I knew I couldn't afford. I went around all of the companies, looked at the galleries and so on. Which was when I saw Morbidollz' and Belladonna's Leslie and Haylee (both migidolls). I really fell in love with Migidoll. At first I had intended to just have one doll, but as soon as I saw Miho, Ryu etc. I wanted all of them!!!! I just have to have a Ryu now that I have a Miho, oh and maybe a Jina boy, and then it'll be another Miho...

Also, I really want to have a doll character that likes to wear bright clothes (since Knox won't XD) and is a bit naive.

I think that I might just have saved enough money in about 6 months to buy Sparrow...

    5. I've now had my first BJD (Volks SD13 FSC) for 4 months. I had her painted very sweet and natural and have gotten her a whole wardrobe to wear. So now I'm thinking I'd like a more Gothic cutting edge look and I'm going to get a pair of Dream of Doll (DoD) Dream of Teen dolls. I actually had the new Code 2 in a shopping cart and then thought I'd wait till I either saw some pics or got my retro check from work.....

So I have my 2nd all picked out (Code02) but I haven't decided on my new girl to go with him. I'll buy Code in January. That will mean about 4 months from my first to my second BJD.

    6. We'll I got my first a bit before school restarted this year, so . . . late August maybe? Early September. One of those.

I ordered part of my second (the head) mid October. A Migidoll Ryu, and the main reason I ordered so soon after getting my first is because Migi is going to make their own bodies and that was the last order period for resins that are made to be matchable to other company's bodies. And I knew which body I'd want him on, so I had to get him XP

Aand, now I'm working toward my third (may be a couple months) :sweat The main reason I'm going for a third so soon is because she'd be a tiny, and they're less money, and omg-so-cute.

    7. I bought my first Dollstown and saw another collector's Unoa .. after that it was downhill LOL!

    8. i wanted another one cuz juste one is not enough! and MSD stinks! xD (but hes too gorgeous to be sold :3 i love him)
the perfect time to buy another doll is when you have enough money to buy it!

    9. I already know which doll I want next, just two months after getting my first O.o but I've decided that even if some miracle occurs and I have enough money to buy him, I won't until I'm totally happy with my first, ie: his faceup is as good as I can get it, he poses perfectly, he's been sanded and de-seamed, all his clothes are fine, etc etc. Then I can start again with a new one ^^

    10. I got my first from ebay, and while looking at the company he was coming from I spotted the next mold I wanted. I saved up enough to get him, then saw that he had come up on the marketplace here, perfect timing :) and he arrived about 6 weeks after my first.
I'm planning on having my 3rd and 4th arrive roughly the same time.

    11. I've had my boy for 2 months and have planned since I bought him to get another. My 2nd doll has just been paid for and I don't regret purchasing either of them^^ The only reason I had to wait before getting my 2nd is because I didn't have any money to buy him at the time...

    12. I waited several years to get my second. I always wanted a tiny, but... the timing was never right. And I wasn't sure if I wanted another doll. :| And then I actually looked at Leekeworld's tinies... and 2 months later -- Uruko came home.

    13. Well when I ordered my first I always knew I would be getting another. Foolish me thought I'd be happy with just two. Now if I buy all the dolls on the wish list my total will be around 6.:doh

I ordered my first, and the 2nd was ordered a little over a month later. Though he took 9 weeks to get here.

I neglected the 1st doll for a few weeks after the new boy came in. But now everything is back to normal, my first will hopefully always be my favorite.

    14. I just ordered my second a couple days ago. I got my first doll a little over a year and a half ago.

I decided to get the second one more spontaneously than my first. I saw her and thought, "It's adorable, I could do this, that, and this with it, and I have the moneyz!"

I am a little concerned that the new doll is going to take away love from my first. But I'm going to try really hard not to let that happen. My first is my baby and I'd never want to neglect him.

Because of that concern, I'm already second-guessing myself. But too late to turn back now.

Just gonna have to wait and see how things play off once the new one arrives.

    15. It was probably decided for me when I saw Iple's Akando, a while after ordering Arius.
Or when I decided to dive into this hobby :D

    16. I'm still waiting for my first one (Lati Green Lea) and I couldn't help but continue to shop while I've been waiting.

She's due to ship any day now, and when I have the money, my second, Fairyland Bisou, will be on the way. I guess it's all about the money for me... 'cause I'd have TONS by now if my bank account could support it!

      ::Edit::
It's funny how things can change! I got my Lati G Lea, and was saving for a Bisou... but I had been eyeing Dollzone's Aimi as well. She happened to be available through junkyspot for less than what I was going to pay for a Bisou fullset. It was the right match at the right time for the right price... So I guess life took me a different way as far as collecting, but I hope that I can keep looking for good deals and eventually have all the dolls on my wishlist! *head in the clouds*

    17. When I was shopping for my first doll, I made a list of the ones I liked. It was pretty much a given that I'd be buying some of them eventually. Just because they weren't my first doesn't mean I like them any less. I've got a lot of other plans for this year, but I imagine my second doll will be ordered around Christmas 2010.

    18. It was always my plan to get two tinies, a boy and a girl, to either be brother and sister or friends. I got my Honey Delf first as she REALLY stood out as the girl I wanted, but I have been debating on the boy for a while. Now Clarice has actually arrived I've decided to go with the Leeke Tori for the boy, because I think he will match her well... and they are currently having a sale XD

    19. I'm saving up for a second doll, but idk if it counts, since I didn't buy the first. XD My cousin gave him to me.

    20. I got my second BJD the instant I could afford her. XD So, at the end of that summer, lawl. I say buy whenever you want/can~ because I'm a horrible, horrible, enabler. Pu ku ku ku ku.

No guilt whatsoever for the first doll - heck, she was actually a usurper of the "first doll" title! I'd been planning for years to get my second doll AS my first doll.

And yes, there was a little regret, but that's because she arrived around a really tough time with my grandmother dying in the week before her arrival and my roommate hitting some really bad money issues and almost being kicked out of the building. :< Now that I'm through all the depressing issues around her arrival, I'm thoroughly glad I kept her.
