Buying your second BJD

I bought my second one maybe.... a month or so after i got my first one lol. The second one wasnt as planned out as the first one, as i was browsing the marketplace and i ran across him. I hesitated on buying him for awhile but as it got later and later i feared he might be bought before i made up my mind so i bought him on layaway. i just paid him off a few weeks ago and i'm so happy he's home :3 i dont regret purchasing him so soon.

I also ended up buying my third around the same time because they were going to stop releasing his head (yeon ho from crobidoll) and I DID NOT want to miss out buying him since he was my second choice for my first one xD

 

I got my first doll as a gift, and it's been about a month since I've gotten him XD
I've already decided I pretty much need another one XD
The reason?
I can't think of a backstory for the life of me without it having another character

 

I've always known, ever since I first laid eyes on BJDs that I would need many of them. I love families and I knew that's what would happen. In fact I figured I would probably have a whole little town if I could, because that's what I always did with my plastic dolls and barbies when I was a kid.
The only regret that I had after purchasing my first BJD was that she was not as posable as I expected, but I wired her so that's fine now. ^-^ I waited almost a year before ordering my next 2 dolls because I still live at home and my mom is very protective over my money xDD but she's learning to see how happy the hobby makes me and I know she likes that.

 

I had been into BJDs for many months before purchasing my first doll. Regretfully, I had myself convinced that I liked the sculpt of a certain doll and liked it even more because of the price, and this verified my purchase. Needless to say, after a while, the novelty wore off and I had a doll that wasn't everything I had initially hoped for. Then, I stumbled upon my second doll in the Marketplace. For all the research I had done on my first doll, I did-comparatively-none on my second; it was instant love the moment I looked at him. This was about a month after I had received my first one and I was wary to buy another, but after two days of thinking (coughobsessingcough) I decided to go for it. It was a "risk" on my part - I had purchased my first one from a legitimate company with many photos and an ordering system from an Asian country versus one photo and a feeler price; however, I do not regret this "impulse buy" in the slightest. The moment I unwrapped his face, I experienced all of those feelings of "love at first sight" blah blah blah that one gets from a doll that was meant for them.

I believe that with my second doll, I had realized that the appeal of quality>price. I feel that I had a better sense of this "BJD" thing that carried me to purchase him. There definitely wasn't a time when I said "I think I want to start looking for another doll now"; it just happened. While I slightly regret getting my first BJD basically just to have one, he is still my first and I cannot yet bear to sell him. I have a feeling, though, that no matter how many more dolls I get (I now have 3) my second boy will always be my favorite doll. So I'd say if your potential second doll is one that you truly love, and the feeling you experience when you look at a photo isn't just excitement over dolls, you should go for it no matter how much time has lapsed since you bought the first.

 

I'd been looking for, oh, so long. My wife promised to get me a body for my Haruka faceup head if I got a job, but googling to find the best price, I sytumbled on a picture of Bobobie Sprite... so all that was left was to decide colour.

Poor Haruka never did get a body.

In between, though, I tired to buy an MSD from Mythdoll. I guess I was lucky not to lose my money, even though I didn't get a doll.

 

I'm still waiting for my first to arrive but I sure hope that once it does arrive, I can stop myself from getting another one right away D:

After all, I barely even have the room to get one doll D:

 

My first one still hasn't arrived and I'm shopping for my second .
I can't decide between Dollmore or Souldoll ...love them both.
I have been scolding myself that I'm just nuts and to wait till I receive my first one but as I can see I'm not the only one that has caught this "Virus".

i actually waited four years to get my second doll! (or rather, i'm ordering her in march; money needs to get here first.) there are several reasons on why i waited:

a) i was content with my first doll to even think about ordering a second one.
b) money money money... didn't have enough of it back then, as i got my doll as an early christmas gift from my mom.
c) fell out of the hobby for a few years due to lots of reasons, so i didn't even look at dolls for the longest time.
d) couldn't invest in the clothing more money woes...

now that i know i have the funds and found the right one that i really really really want, i'm totally ready for my second one. not gonna regret it because i think my older doll would enjoy having his little sister around. i'm building up a family, so the more the merrier!

 

I imagined all the ways they can interact with each other...so actually I was planning more than one dolls from the very beginning.

What causes delay between my dolls is the time it takes me to save up the money, and the time it takes to find the perfect mold (many times the time it takes someone to release the perfect doll finally ).

My second came 5 months after the first - because by then I had the money, and Leeke has just released the perfect face for the character. Actually it seems to be my trend - buying dolls roughly every half year

 

I don't -have- my first one yet but I already kinda have three planned an an extra head >.> The first two are for the main characters of a storyline I have and the third (with the interchangable head) will be for minor parts.

 

Hmm... Well to me, it was almost a month before I decided I wanted another. Mainly because I wanted to have a doll to fill in as my other character. Also, I'd give both of my dolls attention so it won't be like I forgotten my first one. I'd love them equally.

 

My first doll hasn't even arrived yet and I already want a second! Lol but I don't feel guilty. Shortly after I bought my girl AoD Chi I saw the souldoll Chiron centaur and immediatly knew I had to have him. That doesn't mean I'll neglect Chi though as already I have a little story in mind for both of them ^^

plus while I make clothes for Chi I can be saving up for Chiron, making it a win-win situation

Now if I had more that 5-10 dolls then I know I wouldn't have time for them all and would feel a little guilty ><

 

I knew what I wanted after my first doll, A soom.

I bought my firsta bit too early, I missed a lot of MD's because I spent all of my money on something I didnt look into.
I love my boy to bits. but I wanted a soom.

I recently paid for an MD, an Ai. And I am waiting for her to come home ^_^ She'll be my spoiled babe, I know that for sure. My wing-2 will be put on hold for awhile, cause I'm broke x[

 

I only waited like a month xD I got my first girl for christmas and then used the money i got as presents to buy another second hand at a doll meet. I still love my first just as much, and i'm glad to have someone else to play with too :3

 

Probably not to long after seeing the one I wanted as my first. I had browsed around DOA first and saw a few other had, then wandered around a few doll sites. I fell in love with the LUTS Abadon, though missed out on the special limited model for the DOA 5th anniversary since money got tight suddenly and couldn't buy him. I eventually found a Abadon (the original sculpt, not the DOA 5th limited one) in the Marketplace and snatched him up.

The other major one I had my eye on at the time was a DZ Hid and a Souldoll Chiron (Human Ver.), so I decided that depending on refund I get back from Uncle Sam, that if I would either buy the Hid or place a layaway down payment on the Souldoll Chiron. So I guess you could say I already figured I would at least buy 2-3 to start with...

 

Actually, i literally JUST bought my second doll XD

I got my first doll at Christmas, i have been in the hobby for a year or so though.
Already i got my first doll at christmas and bought another.
I looked on the marketplace for a shushu and found one, made an offer she took it and now im waiting
I think, once you like your first doll, you want your family to grow
Some people say one is enough some say 36 is enough too.

I think i will keep getting more dolls in the next few years though probably i will end up with 4 - 5

I bought my second just after receiving my first.
She was so much more beautiful than I had expected I desperately wanted another.
Fortunately my second is as nice as my first but in a completely different way.
I was totally clueless and lucky the two I have are as nice as they are.
After my second I joined DOA and am now taking my time seeing what is about and the pros and cons of certain dolls before I buy my next.
I have the money set aside but don't want to rush this time as there is so much choice I want to choose wisely.

 

Well I wasn't 'bonding' with my first doll... so I sold her and got another. I suppose that would be considered a second doll.

 

I always knew the second doll will have to follow soon after the first one, because I bought the first one to illustrate a specific character, who has a counterpart. The scary thing is that now, when I have my two characters, I really really really want more dolls.

 

When I sent for my first one I thought "ok, 2 will be just the right number "

I have already sent for my second and looking for the third . Whom am I trying to cheat ????
