Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Buying your second BJD

May 4, 2009

    1. I too knew the 2nd would be soon after my 1st. I got my 1st last week & my 2nd is arriving this week (I got her secondhand). I did keep to the same size (MSD size) though. And now I put a 3rd on layaway! Yikes! and am already on the lookout for a 4th.

    2. I forget how long I have had my first BJD doll (Draven *recently named*, an mo-2) though I have two obitsu's from before, and have always considered getting him a companion. Now I have begun actively saving, and planning on getting a part time job to help achieve this :) I dont think I will feel guilty as I am getting the Muroo (hopefully!) for his benefit, he looks so lonely! After that I dont think I *will* get anymore dolls but we all know how that goes. ;)

I do think I will end up with some tinies at some point, they're all so cute!

    3. Blondewerewolf . You're right , the tinies are just too cute but they are expensive comparing to the prices of the MSD but I guess we are all hooked with this hobby and it will never be enough.
All families need at least a little one , right ?

    4. I bought my second doll 4 years after my first but that was because I had a negative experience with my first doll. When I got my second doll it was like entering the hobby again because it was such a different experience. So I sold my first doll and worked as if Tsumiya had always been my "first" :)

When adding new dolls to the family it's a bit hard since you usually want them to be cohesive in some manner. I had to go through two other dolls before I found one that I liked with my "first" (really me second).

    5. Sigh, my situation is so odd and random!

My original plan was to have two dolls, a BF Sarang and a DOD Leya. However, right when I was planning this, FL released the two RoseMary maid fullsets and I was sunk. Totally sunk! I bought myself a Mary and my boyfriend got me the Rose for Christmas and birthday (they are close). So my first doll ended up being puki Mary! Then I bought the Sarang, as planned, a few months later. So, uh... The first doll was my second doll?

I never did get the Leya, she fell off the wishlist somehow, just like kid delf Aru and DIM Flowne.

Sometimes I feel guilty about spending so much money on this hobby, but... It's my hobby! If it weren't this one, it would be another one.

    6. I don't have my first yet and I'm already working on a second- yesterday I purchased a floating head that I saw and immediately wanted. XD Now my poor guy is really gonna need a body, and Nami isn't even here yet...

    7. I got my second one almost half a year after my first boy came home. Is that a long period of time?
The reason why I need a second is not because I'm getting bored with the first one, is just because I realised that I dont have much time spending with him >< Taking another dolls as a brother may confort him a little when I'm not at home I wish(might beo_0?). Now, it seems that they are getting alone with each other very well~ hahah!!
Well, seriously, I have to say the most realistic reason I got a second doll is that I have enough money to buy, I know I'm not the one who's keen on saving money. T_T But I felt that 2 boys are enough for me, I dont want a third even if I have enough money in the future.

    8. I bought my first doll and then recieved my second as a Christmas gift just over a week later, so I never really had that big decision about when to buy my second. I love both of my girls though and don't regret buying my first at all. It'll probably be a good while before I get a third(if I ever do) but right now the main problem is resisting buying every cute outfit that I see for them. xD

    9. Don't ever feel guilty about your hobby....it's a hobby.
There is a thread about it . As everyone said...we work hard , save and do with less to save for our dolls so why not ?
      We love them so much.
I thought of buying a pair of new boots for me this year and went and bought my Dolls some clothes instead ....the choice is mine and it's nobody's business.
      Enjoy your hobby darling...enjoy.

    10. I almost feel like deciding on the second one is harder than the first, for me. I mean, I knew what I wanted from my first girl, as I'd seen lots of other 50cm Obitsus... It was all the picspam that got me. But now, I don't know what to do, I seem to keep coming up with new ideas. It's like my first doll brought a whole cast of other dolls with her.

    11. I had no problem choosing my 2nd doll (the MNF Chiwoo pictured to the left here) as he'd been planned as the younger 'brother' to my 1st doll, an SD El. My problem was that while they were the only planned dolls several circumstances have come up and resulted in more dolls being purchased!

No matter what 'number' the doll is, though, I think that personal interaction with the actual molded doll is what makes you go "yes" or "no" about the doll.

    12. It really wasn't an issue for me at all, to be honest. I knew I wanted to get more than one doll eventually, so the only thing I concerned myself with was having enough money. I'd like a couple more at some point, but for me, timing is everything. I just want to make sure I'll have enough funds for everything and still have plenty left over.

And you shouldn't feel guilty about it. Especially if its something that you really want.

    13. Before my first one has even gotten here, I have another! Dang meetups! lol I'm still waiting for my Ducan, but now I have my little puki, Kitya to keep my company, heh. I'm already trying to decide what to save for next! Let me just repeat, my first doll isn't technically even here yet, lol.

    14. My first one has not arrived yet and I am already drooling over the 65-70cm girls...

      Phil.

    15. My first will be here in a couple days, but I've already planned my next two, to be ordered the very second that I have the proper funds. Sooo...I think as long as you're sure about the dolls you want, it's never too early to buy them.

    16. Hmm, that's hard to say. Six months after I bought my first doll, I bought a head for my second doll. And six months after I bought the head, I got the body for the second doll, so... six months to a year?

I don't know if there's a "good" time to wait between dolls - some feel more comfortable spacing out their purchases, and others want to have more than one to keep them company. :)

    17. I got my first doll as a late christmas present. And I always knew that I have to buy her a friend.
During the time I wait for her, Angelheim released their three 1/4 boys.
I had no money at this time and so I decided to wait alittle bit...
But Angelheim had this special event (free hooves and horns) and so I asked my mother if she would lend me the money.
She did and so I'm waiting for my second doll :)

    18. There were a few months between my getting my first and getting a second one, I loved my first (Little Fee) but I wanted to try an even smaller doll (puki). Ironically while waiting for the second doll via Fairyland I actually ended up swapping one of my other dolls for a puki.

    19. My first doll is a MiniFee Miyu. I knew that a Delf Miyu existed as well but it wasn't until I started to look at pictures of the sculpt more that I decided I wanted it. It was basically because I liked the MiniFee Miyu sculpt so much that it made me buy a Delf Miyu only less than half a year later because of the larger but similar sculpt. Now I try to make them look alike all the time with eyes, wigs, and clothes!

I swear that I won't get more dolls but if Fairyland and/or Luts release different sizes/versions of the Miyu sculpt, it will be very likely that I will get them!

    20. When did you decide it was time to buy your second BJD?
I don't remember exactly when I decided on a second doll. It was very soon after I got my first though.

What made you want another one?
I don't remember what I was planning, besides getting a DZ Megi eventually, but I saw my second girl, Dahlia, on the MP and I had to have her.

Did you wait any length of time before hitting the buy button after you got your first doll?
I really couldn't wait because she was second hand and I was afraid she would be sold.

Did you feel bad for the first one you got, and started regretting the purchase?
No. I got Dahlia so that they would keep each other company while I was at school. They got to play together a lot.
