Buying your second BJD

May 4, 2009

    1. Well, I ordered my first and she arrived at my house in less than a week, so I was pleasantly surprised. It's been two weeks since then, and I was planning to order a DZ Megi sometime at the end of this month or the beginning of the next. However, he might get pushed back because I just saw a doll on the marketplace that I'm just in love with (I've already started drawing stuff that she'd look good in), so he'll probably have to wait until the graduation money starts rolling in. Then I have my fourth doll planned, she's going to be a DZ Shoyo. After her, I'd like to look into getting a Narae, but I'm finding new doll companies every day and seeing more beautiful dolls that I would be very happy to own.

    2. Some days after my first doll arrived I surfed her company's page just for fun. But they had their first limiteds and I didn't expect them to look so cool and smexy. :D
Well... so I decided within some weeks and there it was: my second doll. :sweat

      Laoky

    3. I bought my first BJD in March of 06 and I had my second one in December of 06. Then I got my third in November of 07. I went with no dolls oin 08 because I was broke and jobless. The in January 09 I got my fourth and now in May of 09 I got three. Well one I should get tomorrow and two I'll get at the end of May.

And I have three more planned. I'm going to try to hold off until next year. We'll see how that goes.

    4. I was not even thinking about buying another doll... One week after I got Little Jiao, I ordered Tamsin (Pullip Dal Tezca). I wasn't sure about telling my boyfriend, he sighed at first rolling his eyes. When I showed him a picture of her, he loved her. She's going to be my crazy goth/emo girl.

Now that the first 2 are done... I think I'm going to wait much longer than a week to get another one. I need to take care of this ladies and spoil them, because they deserve it.

    5. I put my first on layaway in November, last year. He arrived in January.. five months on.. yeah, I'm ready for another addition to my family. I don't regret getting my first, I just regret jumping in at the deep end like I did. Now I'm ready, and it's definitely time for another :) I think you just know when it's time.. or I do anyway. :aheartbea

    6. As soon as I got Soo-Ri in Decemeber '07 my first thought was 'MUST HAVE MORE!!!'

Of course I waited to save up as my next target was my girl 'dream doll'. I ended up ordering my 2nd and 3rd three months after him (the 3rd being the other boy I wanted when I was first looking for my first).

I'd be lying if I said I didn't regret it. As I think back probably should have started with El instead of getting him 4th. I've learned I love Luts and Volks the most...which I didn't know coming into the hobby. He doesn't quite fit so I've sent him for a face-up to spruce him up. Also will be re-wigging him. I bought him mainly cause he was less money at the time and came with a wig and clothing option.

    7. I think I ordered my second about a day or two after my first arrived (or was it before he arrived...? I kinda forget, but it was close). Anyway, I wanted a girlfriend for Lore (my Luts Moon), and I really wanted a Dark Elf Soo, so... ordered!

    8. I'm currently selling my very first doll. I adored her when I got her, she was an utterly great first doll. But I'd been oggling DZ Megi for a while and finally found one in the MP and grabbed him up. Figured out after that I like larger dolls more then small dolls (Puki's don't count in that. They're just awesome) and well... My first doll went ignored.
I didn't regret anything, I did a lot to try and make myself want to play with her but in the end. She's going off to a new home to be loved properly!
I don't regret any of my dolls and the spans between them were all different, from a few months to... Er... The impulse buy Sist.
I'd say, as soon as you find the next one you just 100% love, go for it.

    9. Crazy but true...I bought my second before my first even shipped!:XD:

The first doll I bought was the first doll I fell in love with, Iple's Swan Lake Cocori; after sighing over her for more than a year and finding my enthusiasm didn't wane in the slightest with elapsed time, I finally decided to take the plunge. After I broke down and ordered her, I spent a lot of the wait time hunting around for various clothes/wigs/etc. that hadn't been available from Iple when I made that initial purchase, and in the course of this poking around I found a domestic vendor who had the DZ fox in stock. I certainly hadn't been looking for another doll so soon, and if you'd asked me five minutes before that I'd have said I felt no particular interest in tinies or anthro dolls...but when I saw that sweetly imperious little face I was hopelessly lost. That was a totally unplanned impulse buy, but I haven't regretted it for a moment; Ammy-chan is small and sturdy enough that I was able to get some much-needed practice in handling BJDs before the more intimidating SD girl arrived, and fussing with her helped keep me happily busy during what would have otherwise been an unbearable wait for that big LE fullset to be prepared and shipped.

    10. I purchased my 2nd doll a few days after my first one arrived.
Both doll purchased were well thought out though. Like I've said elsewhere, it took me over 3 years to convince my husband to let me start collecting! I had time to carefully choose!

    11. My second was purchased about 3 months after my first. I got her though a friend so we could get free shipping. I didn't really think, I just saw the picture and I knew I needed that puki.

    12. i always knew i would have to get my second doll- since i conisder my fook yuu my first 'real' doll (catsy is too small... tinies just arent the same as the big ones), i knew the twin would be coming soon. :) it was just a matter of finding another unmodified juri 05 head :D easier said than done, believe me!

    13. I don't have a second doll yet, but I know that as soon as I'm able to save up enough, I'm going to purchase one, whether it's a month or six months from now. I'm WELL aware that my collection is just going to keep growing, as I've got a whole cast of characters I'm just dying to put resin to.

Of course, it might take a bit longer depending on whether or not I can find the perfect sculpt or not ... I'm very picky. XD

    14. My second doll was completely accidental.
I ordered my first two together. I just didn't realize it at the time.

I honestly thought that the Dreaming head I included in the order was going to be an alternate one for Harumatsu (my shiwoo-). I only expected one doll. I only wanted one doll... But when they arrived (In spite of my very specific request re: the face-ups), that "alternate head" didn't look a thing like the open-eyed one.

There was absolutely no way they were ever going to pass as two versions of the same guy. So... I ended up with Tien Jen.

My "one doll" turned out to be a pair of twins.

I've never regreted that, and now I can't even imagine having one of that pair without the other.

    15. I already knew I wanted a second one before I even ordered my first!
It was more of which one, I had a lot of plans for different dolls so it took a while before I decided.
I ended up buying a head I really liked on a whim about 5 months after I received my first doll.
He still isn't complete, I bought his body in December and just sent him off to get a faceup, so.
It doesn't quite feel like I have 2 complete dolls yet. :sweat
Plus now I have another head that needs a body...
BUT, I wouldn't worry if I were you, if you really really like this other doll go ahead and buy it! :3nodding:

    16. I ordered my second doll 2 months after getting my first... I didn't have a lot of time for him back then but since my second boy has arrived I just take the time I need ;).
Getting a second doll helped me a great deal to develop and 'improve' the characters I want my dolls to 'play'.

    17. I ordered Luca's head last June & received it in August, but I only got his body last week. I'd been planning my first doll since about April of last year. As soon as I'd decided I wanted a migidoll Ryu as my first, I started looking for my next doll. I'm now saving up for her & hopefully will be able to order in a few months. I'm even pretty sure about my third one too :)
I've never regretted getting Luca, I love him so much & I think when it comes to knowing when you should buy another one, you'll know when you see one you love.

    18. Well, my first doll was a female Petsha called Ophelia and when it arrived I was so thrilled. I was just too excited. I really loved to look at her with that lovely gaze she has :). Ophelia is one of my characters in a roleplay story I played a few years ago. In that story she had a lover called Rhys. Thus, it was just a matter of time that I wanted to see both of them together. At first I was a bit confused about buying another doll since It was a lot of money and Ophelia had come a few months ago. But I finally decided to buy Rhys. And now, when I look at both of them I don't get why I was so confused. They are just too adorable!! ^_^

    19. I want the second one before my first came home!
Because I want at least one girl and one boy
But my second doll was an accident!
I didn't think of getting another girl at that time
but she just melted my heart!!
So I now have to save up all over again for the boy I originally wished for xD

I don't really feel bad for my first doll
because she is my favourite doll
and my girls looks so happy when they are together!(xDDDD)

    20. I decided I needed a second about a month after receiving my first and actually bought him three months after deciding. I feel bad, though, because I rushed into it since I wasn't sure exactly which boy I wanted so I'm ending up having to buy a third doll and selling the second. :...( I hope I learned my lesson about that.
