Buying your second BJD

May 4, 2009

    1. I have only one now and another wil be coming this week and maybe the third in another 2 weeks.
Now I'm wondering if I over did it . I spoil my girl imensely and shower her with atention and dress and carry her around with me everyday but now another 2 are coming I wonder if I will feel the same and will have time to do this with 3.....hummmmmm

What about you all , after the first do you still do this or just play with them once inawhile ?

    2. well the first doll i bought (domuya fashion venessa) was actually the second to arrive...i got distracted by ebay and saw a lovely doll for sale (iplehouse Amy/DIM body) cheap..and quite near me and just had to have her...i love both the same...yet very different...Amy was the first doll i ever handled and got to know...venessa the first i did faceup and stringing on...im g;ad i didnt receive them in the order i bought them..i dont think id have had the confidence to go ahead without seeing a 'complete' doll first.

    3. I only have one doll, and I doubt I'd spend the money, effort, and time to get another one. *shrug*

    4. When did you decide it was time to buy your second BJD?
Since I realized, before she arrived (In September 2005), the character my first BJD (CP Luts Delf Soo Special) was going to be, the one she is (Nami, from One Piece manga and anime series), I knew I would purchase a second and several BJD more.

What made you want another one?
Getting the whole crew and even some supporting characters together made me want other ones.

Did you wait any length of time before hitting the buy button after you got your first doll?
In fact, it was not a matter of time. Saving was what all it was about. Luckyly it finally meant ordering for Christmas 2005, and at the same time, my second and my third one. They (CP Luts Delf Shiwoo and CP Luts Delf Chiwoo Special) arrived in the same package in February 2006.

Did you feel bad for the first one you got, and started regretting the purchase?
Not at all. I felt absolutely glad to bring home some other members of the crew at last.

I think it all depends on every person's way of enjoying this so exciting and often kind of addictive hobby.

    5. Well, I have two, with two more on the way....and two on my wish list! Oh dear - you are so right - this needs to stop!
Notice neither one of us said WHEN it has to stop?!!!

    6. i have my first one on the way and i am already thinking of getting another but i think i should be sensible and wait until my first arrives and i am sure that i want another one! (yeh right!)

    7. Once I've bought my first doll I started to search for another one. I just look through different sites , forums and diarys and found some dolls that became my dream (Marseille was not a dream but first love, I think). So I've bought Kimberly (my second doll) after 6 months.

    8. When did you decide it was time to buy your second BJD?
Buying my second was SO MUCH BETTER than buying my first! Once I decided on the doll I wanted second (and had bought everything I needed for my first one - a rule I should have stuck with and didn't) I started the saving process again and bought him when I could afford him.

What made you want another one?
I always knew I'd want at least five, probably more. Having a 'doll family' appeals to me so much more than having... well... a couple of dolls. Plus being a writer, the potential for a story was much greater with more characters. With Mihael I fell hard and fast for the sculpt, I adore him.

Did you wait any length of time before hitting the buy button after you got your first doll?
Only the time it took to save ;)

Did you feel bad for the first one you got, and started regretting the purchase?
No... no actually I experienced what real bonding was like, decided I prefered SDs to MSDs and decided that my second is staying but the first has to go. I'm in the process of working out postage so she can go to someone who will appeciate her, because she's a beautiful doll - just not for me.

...And buying my third was even more comfortable than buying my second

    9. I wanted another one before my first even arrived. I waited about a month before I actually bought another. I knew I wanted a pukifee zoe but was putting it off until I saw DDE had one in stock; I impulsively bought her right away. She's coming right now :aheartbea

My bank account is now suffering, so I don't plan on any more for a long time. :sweat

    10. It's fun reading all the different stories here. :)

I was on DoA for two years before I ordered my first doll with a Federal Tax Refund, & he (SE Akando) still hasn't arrived. I ordered my 2nd last week (Tan Limwha Luna) because she's one of my 'dream dolls' & was available at a great price in the MP & I had the funds available. I think that illustrates my philosophy: when they're available & when you can afford them.

    11. When did you decide it was time to buy your second BJD?
My budget is a bit tight, being in college and all. I mainly search around looking at any doll I see on here and I told myself, unless it hits me that I must have(like with my first), then it's not the one for me.

What made you want another one?
Once I found that mold that told me I must have it, I began watching for her head in the marketplace. ^^ I'm easy-going, if I find it(SDF Annette head) at the price I want, then it must be time to get it.

Did you wait any length of time before hitting the buy button after you got your first doll?
Yes, I believe I had Nicolai for a little more than a year before I found the Annette head I wanted. About half a year until I got the body for it.

Did you feel bad for the first one you got, and started regretting the purchase?
Nope! I love them both to bits! x3
I did regret getting a girl body for the Annette head, but I do love skinny/femmy boys, so I gave it a female to male mod. Now I don't regret a thing! ;D I love him even more! Nicolai gets as much attention as he always has. ^^

    12. When did you decide it was time to buy your second BJD?
I put my first one, a pukipuki darjeeling red rabbit full package, on layaway in January. In April, she was paid off and finally arrived at my home. I loved her as soon as I took her out of the tiny Fairyland box, but I was a little hesitant to keep her because she was so tiny and seemed like I would break her. I contemplated putting her up for sale on another doll forum but changed my mind and kept her. But she's the only BJD I have, and she looks lonely...so I want another one. I felt like I would want to get another one about a week after I decided to keep her.

What made you want another one?
Well, my little Gabi is a fairy baby. She's so lonely, and I want another tiny (but bigger than she is) to look after her. I think I want maybe a Lati or another Fairyland...but a PukiFee this time.

Did you wait any length of time before hitting the buy button after you got your first doll?
I actually haven't bought or started any layaway plans yet. I'm still looking around to see which one I really want to get. And I need to make sure that I can actually afford to do this. I have obligations such as mortgage, insurance, groceries, preschool tuition, my son's extracurricular activity fees....so I guess what I need to do is start finding funds, and selling things on ebay before I go ahead with my plan.

Did you feel bad for the first one you got, and started regretting the purchase?
I actually did. I felt guilty because she was so tiny and so pricey at the same time. To someone else (like my parents, or my husband, or my in laws, for example), it is just crazy. Who pays $378 for a 4-inch high doll?! Apparently I do.

But she's just so freakin' cute and adorable and I like looking at her, and I love her sleeping face plate...and I'm not hurting anyone by having her...so it's OK, right?

    13. I don't even have my first yet and I'm already looking into buying a second...

    14. I haven't even gotten my first girl yet (a few weeks) but I've already got plans for my second girl

    15. It was a week after I preorderd my first doll. XD I'm already looking into what doll to get next and am already planning on raising the money to get him. I feel I should wait, even though the doll I want is limited. But I do want to get a Yara doll from Asleep Eidolon, especially since she was actually the one I almost got instead until I FINALLY found the Jiao model that I've been searching for, for days. I feel rather dumb though wanting to get her maybe for christmas or with the christmas money I receive. But she was one I wanted really badly before I finally found the one I've been searching for. 6.6;

    16. When did you decide it was time to buy your second BJD?

I knew for certain that I wanted a second doll after having my first for about two months. I then proceeded to spend another five months saving and agonizing over which sculpt to order. Finally I took the plunge, and bought not only a second doll, but a floating blank head as well.

What made you want another one?

A number of things: I wanted more options for photo-stories and pictures, to learn how to do face-ups, and then, while I certainly love my first doll, I really wanted a male and female pair (not necessarily as a couple).

Did you feel bad for the first one you got, and started regretting the purchase?

Good heavens, no! Elena is wonderful, and I feel lucky every day to have her. I just hope that there won't be personality clashes between her and the incoming resin person + head.

    17. it was an impulse buy, I liked the doll, and knew I could do more with her, clothes wise so bought her
to this day I've never seen anyone (here or anywhere else) with another latidoll cara

    18. I haven't even ordered my first and I already know I want my second. =>^3^<=

Heehee, Resinsoul Isabella and Ni. XD I'm terrible I know, but at least after that I'm done for a long time. ):< I can't afford a million dolls and there are other things for me to pine after! XD I guess I'll just have to see about it whenever I get the funds for my first, and eventually second, doll. :3

    19. I had my little one for about 1 1/2 years before i decided to save up the money to get another one. Granted, my friend showed me the girl im going to get (she was part of a set, my friend wanted the other part, luckily I liked her and agreed to pay for them with her) but i decided my little one needed a older sister figure and it was worth it. They arent related though.

    20. I had my first boy for almost four years before I bought my second. I never intended to only have one, but no sculpts really appealed to me at the time and I was content simply spoiling my homme ducan.
The Luts 2009 summer event head made me fall hard, and I was quite excited to add him to my collection. I have yet to regret my purchase... and I doubt I ever will. They look so beautiful sitting together it just makes me smile whenever I see them ^_^
