Buying your second BJD

May 4, 2009

    1. I waited a few months after ordering my first doll Puki Cupid, she was ordered the end of June, my 2nd doll (LTF Ante) was ordered beginning of November. I wasn't sure who I wanted next; so I thought it was better to wait for someone to grab me with that 'WANT' feeling. Also this game me some time to save up.
Once I got my Littlefee, I kinda felt a little bad for my Puki, since all my attention was on the new doll; but after making each of them an outfit, I realised that I can enjoy one, without feeling like I'm neglecting the other! :)

    2. It's been a bit more than a year since I've purchased my first doll and I've decided to order my second doll this month~ :) I think for me, it was finding a mould that I really wanted to be my second doll. I wanted a BF TF May boy at first but he didn't grab my attention as much as the PW Punky Beetle :D I want another one because I think it will be nice having two dolls :sweat I think my first doll has had a lot of attention already, so it will be nice to have another doll to take multiple shots of ;3

Also finding another msd was a main factor so its easy for them to share clothing ^___^~

    3. i want the second one right after i open my first bjd boxes... hahaha i think more to come i just fall in love with the Yosd size XD...

    4. I was adamant about just having ONE and spoiling her rotten...but then my friend wasn't bonding with her tiny...which was six months after I'd gotten Sadako.

Then three months later Tillie came...eight months later Nuri...and it's been hell ever since :D

    5. I thought at first that I'd only have one doll (I'm of the exclusive kind, so I usually have difficulties to divide my attention) and for one year I had my Rio and we were very happy together XD Then one day it hit me, I needed a friend for my boy...so impulsive as I am, I sold parts of my collection and 3 days later clicked the "buy" button for my Shiwoo XD
Never regretted it! Now everything is going downhill, have 3 dollies and planning on at least 6 or so more...

    6. Well .. I bought my first doll in July, and I did not think to buy another, I was happy with her, but in March an university companion sold his doll. This doll is now in my house! hahahaha! At first I did not like as much as my first doll, but now I love both *____*

Sorry... my english is really bad :S

    7. Got the first one a few months ago and was ready to buy him a companion just after few weeks but for now have no money so he'll enjoy being my solitary little fella for a while :D

    8. Well, while I didn't buy the first BJD for myself, I was the first in my lump (MCPO_J117 and I live together and thus share the dollfie fun) to buy a dollfie.
It might have been his but I knew the SECOND I saw him and how happy John was with his little Homme Ducan I wanted one STAT!

    9. I bought my second one because I didn't want to miss out on the Pipos Mac so I snagged one during the last order period.

    10. My first is on layaway and I already want another one hehehe:D

    11. Well I thought I wouldn't get another BJD for another year turns out my parents are buying me a Dollzone Yuu (he's on layaway with his current owner) I saw him at an anime convention doll panel the girl said she was selling him first words out of my mouth were "How much?"

I got my first doll end of November...like VERY end almost December for my birthday so it's been 5 months since I made the decision for a new baby XD

    12. My first bjd was technically not a dollfie and 1/6 size. About a year later I fell in love with BBB Weylin at first sight. A year after that was Lee Jun :)

    13. I'm really glad this thread exists.
A month or so back I started thinking about maybe getting a new doll after the summer, and even though it sounds silly I felt a bit like I was betraying my first doll. I have one of those beautiful, but oddly sized, JID girls and I haven't been able to spoil her rotten... and though I love her she's ended up being more for display than play. And the thought of getting a more standard sized doll who I can dress up (without having to search for weeks trying to find something that fits) and play with entered my head. This thread has actually made me feel less bad about the whole thing. Thanks

    14. I only got my first doll in Feb. And I'm already saving up for my second doll. I've yet to regret buying my girl, and I don't think I ever will.
For me, buying my second doll, is because of a story. After buying my first doll, I started thinking of a story. Random story ideas started flooded my mind and now I have like 5 I want to buy for that particular story. Lol.

I think when it comes to buying dolls, and such. Everyone has their own idea of when to buy more dolls, and why. If you're debating and are unsure about getting another doll. Maybe you should wait to see if there is a doll where you really really want. And don't think you'll regret buying, and are sure you want the doll. I mean, if you don't feel it's the right time to buy another doll, maybe you should wait a little longer to see how you'll feel then. You don't want to buy a doll and later realize you really didn't want it.

    15. Well... this is interesting ! At the beginning, I just wanted one doll and then stop. I got my boy Connor (KDF) and I found him so amazing that I wanted a girl to keep him company. That's how I got Eden, my Dollmore. Afterwards, I wanted to stop right at two dolls but I bought another one, trying the tiny size for the first time (love it by the way). So now I got three and I can't say I won't buy more dollies because I really am fond of them !!!

    16. My room mate and best friend has something like 23 now. I have... 3. When I got my first, he had somewhere around... maybe 20? That was a year ago, and I know finances have kept him from getting too many more this year.

Anyways, when I got my first, I was well used to the massive photo shoots he'd pull off, and that all of his dolls seemed to have friends. When I got Lao (Angel of Dream - Chen), I felt he was lonely - he got to hang out with some of my roomies dolls, but it wasn't the same.

So about a week or so later I picked up Cleo (Angel Fantasy - Lily) for him.

About a month or so after those two, my roomie helped me acquire Mr. Vice (Dollshe - Saint) from someone here on DoA, and a year later I am working to acquire a DollGa Noella for him so he won't be so... lonely. :)

    17. I bought my second when I noticed that my first looks so lonely being the only bjd in the house. *kidding*

I bought my second about half a month later, I found her in a secondary market and the price is very good, so ... ;)

    18. I've been pondering a second doll. I know which one I want. It's just the saving process that makes me stand back and re-think it.

First doll was easy. I was very excited to buy something new. And that kept me from spending my money. Lately, I've been saying to myself "Yeah. I'll just save little by little. But if I see something I want, I'm gonna get it." Which... Keeps me from saving at all, actually.

I dunno. I just got a raise at work, so that might make it a little bit easier on me.

    19. I'd originally planned on owning only two SD-size boys, and ordered my first in July of 2007. I think he'd only been home a few days when I saw a limited Baha kitty that I absolutely fell in love with, so I ended up getting my second doll less than two weeks after my first. I've never regretted buying her, but I would have preferred to space my purchases out by a few months. Unfortunately Kiyoshi thought I was already tired of him and was replacing him. It took a while for him to warm up to Minnaloushe, though he finally accepted the "big brother" role for her and the other two anthros I picked up later (I have 7 dolls altogether). For the next purchase, I had to decide between an SD or an MSD sculpt, and I actually asked my dolls who they would like to have join them (they agreed on a mini girl!). Perhaps "consulting" your girl on whether it's time for another doll would help clarify your thinking and let you know if this is the time to expand your family.

    20. Haha! I knew from the start that I wouldn't be able to have just one! Back then, I thought I'd get two girl MSDs and make matching costumes that were slightly different, with the differences reflecting their personalities (one tomboyish, one girly cute).

Then the tinies hit me. I saw the puki maid sets and had to have both, so I bought a Mary and my boyfriend bought me Rose and put it away for Christmas. Then my mom wanted to get me a doll for Xmas, and I was hesitant to ask for anything more expensive than a puki, so I got a Flora. THEN I saw a littlefee Flora, and my boyfriend talked me into splitting her for my birthday. (Gosh I love him!)

One year later I just bought my second MSD! The only other tiny I'm planning on ever getting is a Littlefee Ante, after that I want all minies and two SDs...

Anyway, the point is that your plans get interrupted easily! Trust me, your dolls will love being a family! If you feel like you're neglecting one or the other, just spend some time with just them, making them an outfit or doing a photoshoot. It will work out! :)
