1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Cats and box openings

Feb 16, 2015

    1. I'll definitely agree it's true, the more cats you have the more trouble you have. Exponentially more. Thankfully, my cat insists on being the only cat, and has shown no interest in the dolls (though he'll "cuddle" them if one's on the couch). I do steer clear of natural-fiber wigs, though, because I know he'll go after those, so there's accommodations made. He's been with me a lot longer than any of the dolls, though, so he earned those accommodations! (He's old, too, but doesn't act the part.)

Also true, but I do want to make it more clear that it's no more cavalier to have dolls in the open with trusted animals than to handle dolls with bare hands instead of gloves. Some animals can't be trusted, others can, and it can be very hard to know which is which, but I've never had a doll even have a hair out of place after leaving them alone with my cat for hours or days at a time since I got them, and it's not out of a "cavalier" nature, it's just out of understanding his behavior well enough to know what he will and won't get into. (Like doll boxes. His favorites are the ones with the pillows. :) )

    2. Hahaha I love this picture. I want to be like "hey, Doll Company X, would you send me an entire box of just those pillows?" The older one is wild over those too. Boxes and packing materials, really dudes? You guys have more toys than most children.

I wouldn't argue with anyone about what they personally want to do with their stuff, I'm way more concerned about accidents around this joint. I mean that can happen with anything, but I like to reduce the risk. They don't deliberately go after anything (although I do want to make some natural fiber wigs, uh oh...) but the older one is a little skittish.

I also don't mean "cavalier" in an insulting way, sorry if it came across like that, it was meant to be kind of jokey/hyperbolic.

    3. No worries, it's tough to be clear about that kind of thing in text! :)

He really loves the pillows a lot; I think that might be part of why he hasn't been as prominent in some of my more recent box openings. Most of them have been the foam cut-out box style, which I personally prefer, but he doesn't find quite as comfy. On the other hand, I've got a box that originally held wigs about three years ago or so that's never been tossed because it's the perfect size for him. All the money I spend on toys for him, and I end up keeping this old wig box!

    4. I have two cats. One of which is my profile picture. He is not allowed near my dolls cause he is a little silly sometimes and is still a kitten. But my baby Zip is like three now and she loves to sit with my dolls. She always gives them a sniff and doesn't do anything other (besides the occasional rubbing her head on their feet). I've had my dolls sit on her and near her and she just purrs and sleeps. I think the kitten though would bite them, since he's at that stage. So I just keep him clear of them.

    5. I loved having Babycat assist me in opening dolly packages. But she was my best friend and made everything more fun so I always allowed her to be a part of the hobby. She would get in the box or paw at the tissue paper or sniff the new arrival.

    6. I have a cat and I'm not afraid to let him around my bjds just because I know he will not do anything, however I also don't leave my dolls in a place where they are able to be knocked over because he would probably knock them onto the ground and I would be upset and they might crack ://///
