Character Creation: What-Race, Nationality or Species is your doll? Pt. 2!

My dolls are just dolls I realized have not race etc . Im not able to invent a story on them... I prefer to consider them simply dolls but with a "soul" ( of course they dont have a soul ) ...but I like that they are dolls that come out from the respective company so they have a story in the back..the story of how they were created, the waiting time, the time they "took confidence to live in my house etc.
this is their "story". is the real story of where they come from ... nation where they really came from..... if I invent stories about "this is the fairy of sea" etc... it looks too unrealistic ...so I prefer the real story of them...that after all is already incredible! And I just add to the real story the "capacity of think and speak about" their feelings as if they have their own character.. thats my story now

 

One of my girls is an android--that would be my DD Hatsune Miku. Also, my Azone Homura is arguably more of a lich than human at this point, and while she hasn't "told" me yet, I kind of suspect cute little Abby isn't human either.

As for plans, I'm seriously considering a literal troll, and possibly both a genetically engineered kid and/or a certain famous Time Lord. I wouldn't say no to a fairy down the line, but nothing half as concrete as ideas for the troll or the Time Lord.

 

All of my dolls are anthros to some degree, so none of them are human! Because of the shape of the horns I was originally considering making my dearmine Air a kirin but I fell in love with his cute puffball deer tail so a deer he stays. One of my friends likes to tease me that my picasso bean looks like a chihuahua but he's a kitty regardless >3>
I'm kind of patching together a story for all of my dolls as a go along, I rarely have an idea or character in mind first (not to say I don't have other characters, just none I'm really planning on making into dolls). It's almost like a fun creative exercise... Looking at a sculpt I like and thinking "how can I make this fit into the world I've come up with so far?"

 

Last I posted here several years ago, I was at 18 dolls. I'm now at 37 and still have just the one completely human doll. Now added into the mix are several gods, a couple of different types of elves, a Dryad, an Oceanid, a Naga, a Wight, a kitsune/Coyote cross and a bole. I am hoping to be able to purchase a psychopomp this summer *fingers crossed for the release*. I'd also love to get my hands on a merman, but Soom needs to do a FCE of their boy faries and include the mertail part this time.

 

Well, my dolls tend to be fairly diverse because I love me some "non white" sculpts and skin tones heh. I like diversity and pale skinned whitey white dolls are super easy to find they're kinda.. common and not as interesting to me. I dunno, I just prefer something a little less common.

My biggest crew of design your own dolls are a lot of things. There's a few white characters, a few black, some half elves, a couple of full elves, some aliens hahaha. There's kobolds as well, and a few who are chinese and so on and so forth. I dunno why, that's just who they were, they popped into existence like that and who am I to fight that?

My BJD crew however, when I finally do get them all together won't be human at all. they'll be fantasy races and be all manner of colours.
I'll have a Bariur, a genassi, an imp of some sort, a tiefling, an aasimar and a satyr. Sadly the limitation of skin tones and sculpts with a few companies means I have no option but pale white skin for a couple, but the others are going to be blue and green and a rich brown and all sorts. It's gonna be great.
It kinda annoys me many companies STILL only offer pale, slightly not as pale and every so slightly saw the sun once as skin tones. I mean I get that in Korea and Japan and all that sorta region people generally are that kinda colour but it's still frustrating to find such limitation. Thankfully more and more companies seem to have realised that offering not just darker skin tones but fantasy tones as well is appealing to people. So yay!

And if I ever get around to ordering the mirodoll hybrid I want, he'll be an alien so... ya know.

 

I have characters (who don't have dolls yet, but I'm working on it) who come from sort of parralel dimensions where there's magic, so they look human but have some different aspects/ capabilities. So I guess you could say they're a different species? There's others who are obviously not human as well though, which are definitely another species (like my unicorn children and werewolves).

 

I don't know if "immortal" is a species... But my bjd is immortal. She is a mystic kids lillian but with a different faceup... Im just starting to build her character so being immortal is not set in stone. I do want an elf or a fairy but so far i only have one bjd soooo maybe I'll get more!

 

My characters are mostly elves set in my own world, which means I have a ton of ear mods to do as I choose sculpts by the face, not the ears. The elves in my books come in different skin tones, from pale to dark brown. One of my elves is a dark elf and needs grey skin, but the companies I've found sculpts to match his face don't do grey. Another character is a sort of demon guy, but he's not a demon. He's going to be rough to shell.

Sometimes I wish they were just human.

 

My SD sized dolls are mostly members of a big extended family of children who are siblings, half-siblings, and cousins. Most of them human, some elves, some half elves. Among the other sizes there are a couple of elves, a wood nymph, a faun, a Nac Mac Feegle, and a handful unspecified fay creatures (those are mostly the Puki clan).

Two of the SD size kids are human, or half-elf, or elf - depending what ears they are sporting at the time.

The dolls I have, and the ones I have on my wishlist are all humans with the exception of one: My Miss Kitty, who is essentially imaginary; she's a character in a story one of my doll characters is writing.

As for my other characters, they are all very diverse. Two are from Africa, Anton, my Dollshe Husky, is from Canada, and those are just the few I've started actively working on developing.

 

My only doll at the moment, Brahm, is an immortal from Ireland. He used to be human, but since he doesn't age and can't die he no longer considers himself one.

 

Here's the demographics of my flock:

*Johnny is human and British to the hilt.
*Alistair is a werewolf of German and British ancestry. His nationality is Welsh.
*Chloe is a leprechaun and unsurprisingly hails from Ireland...I think. She hasn't confirmed or denied this.
*Johanna is an elf, and an elf with a split personality at that! She has an American accent.
*Ylla will be a Martian. Dark she is, and golden-eyed.

 

Avian is simply an elf.
Carina is human and Native American (Ojibway).

 

The only full doll I actually have right now is the representation of a vampire OC of mine. So original! He doesn't have a vampire sculpt, since I'm not a fan at all of the usual closed-mouth-fangs-out look. I am getting a Ringdoll Dracula open-mouth sculpt for a different vampire character (in my defense, I have a lot of characters and these are the only two vampires) if the face suits him. If not, he'll probably just be a random vampire doll and I'll love him and squeeze him and call him George regardless.

 

All my dolls are white/caucasian, but all hail from different places.

My doll Aisling is American. (wishing she was Japanese)
My doll Mister Hyde is English.
And my doll Erik is French.

 

All my Packing Heat crew are futuristic Americans:

*Guy - An oblivious micronano infected and augmented humanoid host. He is half Philipino and half Mexican decent, possibly.
*Audrey - A successfully reanimated, born again human corpse via magic and science combined. (Like a pretty zombie or vampire, but not a zombie or vampire.)
*Donna - British-American teenage human.
*Doc - Half human, half robot... Android? Cyborg?
*Leland - Possessed human skull


My mermaids are from the mid to late 1800's:
