Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Character Creation: What-Race, Nationality or Species is your doll? Pt. 2!

Apr 28, 2012

    1. All my Awh'anise have tails, pointed ears and fangs. The pointed ears have been part of the sculpts I've choosen as well as the fangs (they were usually "vampire" sculpts). The tails I made myself using sueded fabric sewn into a tube with 2-3 pipe cleaners wrapped in unravelled cotton balls and the tip of the tails is a piece I knitted out of fun fur. One of my Awh'anise (Moswen) is a Throw-back an is further set apart by his entire body having tiger striping. His son, Jaiseki, has some medium grey stripes on his body.

The demons I have have horns (child Haniel has them as part of his sculpt, the others have magnetic horns). Kys has had his human ears removed and has cat ears sewn onto his wig(s). Dak is Laiokian and unique among his people in that he is entirely coal black instead of the rainbow colour common for his people (he was dyed). Gunari is currently out for modding where his lower human legs are being swapped out for dragon style ones. Kijika and Jaiseki also both have wings.

    2. My girls do look human but I'd say they aren't 100% human.
Estella's [GD Goth Miyuki] a lab experiment. So in a way, she isn't fully human as she was an experimented item. For Cookies [Soom Smokey] She's got half donkey blood causing these awkward little donkey ears at the side of her head. But she looks so damn good in them haha.

    3. Well... Both of my dolls have inspired characters in my overly complex story,
One, my Bobobie Ming, (as simple explanations go) he has the appearance of a faun,
and the other one, Souldoll Flett, has telekinetic abilities, including being capable of astral projection, with no real obvious physical characteristic of a species relating to those of myth.
It's all just too complicated to explain!

    4. Nada, My Ninodoll Bada hybrid is a Death God of sorts, to put it simply...accidentally summoned by a mental patient during a psychotic episode. He comes complete with Dead Meat, (my ittle ickle migs) a Yo Tenshi Kasumi. He is Nada's demi....maggot...a ward of sorts that eats the remains of the ones Nada takes.
Both are humanoid in appearance, as in they have human shaped bodies, but neither look very human at all.

    5. Well, since I'm changing my characters a lil bit~
Kazuki ( AoD Boy body + Luts Summery 2009 head ) is two faced. He's half human and half dragon. So he has his way in being either human or dragon or both at the same time
I'm not sure what to make of Tilly ( KDF Aru ) just yet. She'll prolly be cynogriffon cause her personality is like that. :3

      xx

    6. I haven't gotten my first doll yet, but he is ordered and paid for and should be arriving first week of June. Anywho, he is based on my OC, Shou Degawa who is a Japanese male from Osaka with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has never been human. He was born a pure blood lycan/werewolf. He is also gay and heterophobic haha. But he's likable cause he's quick to action but never thinks first. He has a reputation of not being the sharpest tool in the shed but damn is he pretty XD

    7. I kind of love you for that XD

If you have dolls that look human but aren't, what species are they?

Pffft. I have a grand total of.... one human so far. Three once Iah comes in and Elliott gets reshelled.

      So far I have...
      A shinto god
      A half-tengu
A changeling pair - the fae half and the human half who is technically a ghost because he's dead
A Cheshire Cat - In my world they are a fairy species related to cat sidhe
      A dragon lord
An ice hound - wolf-based ice elemental
A... well, I don't know what Salem is. He used to be human but he's not any more. Probably.
Aaaand one that is technically a naga but hasn't got his tail. Sad.

I also have a ningyo, a horse-based faun like thing, and a harpie incoming.

There are obvious species like elves, demons, vampires etc, but have you ever discovered an obscure species to use for one of your dolls?
I don't know about obscure... I prefer to find a mythological species that already exists if I can. I have traditional ones planned, like a werewolf, a dryad (er, do boy dryads still count as traditional?), a half-bakeneko based on The Vampire Cat of Nabeshima, a couple of androids... among others.

Have you ever created a species of your own?
Oh, sure! A few. So far I only have Cei characters planned as dolls. Wait, no, there's a Mujatu in there too. Cei are little winged people with elemental magic and Mujatu are a sort of mer-people.

    8. I have a ghost/leanan sidhe (a spin-off of; instead of music, my leanan sidhe is a muse of knowledge, and sports a monster form that is vaguely reminiscent of flies, wasps and faeries). I have two devils; not traditional, more like possessed toys made by a devil toy maker, both are purple. I have a witch-monster; a blood mage who is a crow spirit. I have a demon/force of nature/monster; nature's response to man and the chaos caused by, and mother of all monsters. I have a little boy's shadow, who wished so hard to become a real life friend to the little boy that he became real. I have an incubus coming, his incubus child; again, non traditional renderings. My most conventional character is a vampire, but before being that, he's also a tortured mexican artist.

I only have one human in my crew, currently. She's an exception. More like a living accessory/indentured servant to my main devil character, my Migma boy. I tend to shy away from humans because I see those all the time. xD

    9. Yes~ All the dolls I have currently are a species of mine and one of my RP partner's creation called Night Terrors. They're creatures of nightmares who were once human but died in various horrible ways; the leader/'master' of the Night Terrors brought them back to life and gave them all jobs to do in order so he could stay alive. In the future I'll also be getting dolls who are angels, robots, faeries, fallen angels, demons, vampires, and a whole host of other races including another type of nightmare creature also created by me and the same RP partner.

    10. The one doll I have right now is actually an elven sculpt (Dollzone Floy), but his character is an elven/demon hybrid~

    11. If you have dolls that look human but aren't, what species are they?
Otherworld: Scythe appears to be human, mostly but is a young dragon stuck in human form.
Court of Dun Elisedd: Kevya and Davan are not precisely human, but no one know what they are. Ian, in the same story, was a human once but becoming a druid, he gave up some of his humanity.

There are obvious species like elves, demons, vampires etc, but have you ever discovered an obscure species to use for one of your dolls?
      Not really.

Have you ever created a species of your own?
      Sort of.

    12. All of my dolls, home and planned, are human except Atticus, who is a Rhapsodian, which is a race I created. He usually looks fairly human except for his fangs, but in certain situations, he grows horns and he has control over electricity and ice. He also has dark grey eyes rimmed in red. He has rhythm in his blood, so dancing and playing musical instruments and singing comes very naturally to him, though he takes little interest in making any of it a career and instead pilots an airship. :)

I also have an OT doll (DC Faramita) who is of the "bad trip pet" species.....meaning he mostly stays safely away in imagination land, but if somebody is inebriated to the point of hallucinating, Xerxes makes his appearance and does as he pleases with the person...it is never pleasant. >.>

    13. I've thought of creating an elf character down the line, but I'm unsure where to go to get adequate research. I think I'd rather make my own elf species, but I'm not sure if people usually do that, or if they stick to already-known types.

    14. My dolls are either fairies or yokai (Japanese demon), and some are just dolls that house the souls of humans that have passed on.

    15. Still works in progress buuuuuut-

-Pixel and his mother Niloufar are "Ifs". Ifs hold the most rich parts of the land and H.R.H. Niloufar is the current queen, with Pixel next in line to rule. The Ifs are a proud race, with a powerful lineage and a history of conquering. However, when Niloufar's father took the throne, they tried to offer a peace treaty with several neighboring nations which were often met with more war. Particularly vicious were the They, who felt that an offer of peace without a fight was a sign of a weakening nation, and rained fire on the royal city for several years until they were eventually pushed back.

-Oslo and her siblings are "Ands", Protectors and powerful Pecora-like warriors and in eternal alliance with the If empire, and have often been selected to protect the royal family. They all grow horns regardless of gender, and occasionally some are centaur like or have hooves. Typically thier species does not mate for life, Oslo herself has several half siblings. They are usually a more serious demeanored race and live in herds. Many of thier race are still tribal or prefer to keep the tribes alive though many more are moving towards living in the If empire's cities.

-Minoshka is a "They", wing-eared and hollow-boned enemies of the Ifs, though she herself was exiled from her homeland to live with the enemy. Her species actually hears by detecting the vibrations in the air with individual feathers of thier ears. Thier heighted hearing and flight, despite thier brittle bones have made them formidable foes. They have two sets of eyelids, one clear one that covers thier eyes during flight and a regular one. The males and some females in her species feet grow into talons to fight with, or some even grow ankle wings, which is rare and considered a birth defect, and often are clipped. They are also hatched, though live birth does happen on rare occasions if they bred with another race.

-Calumet is the last "Why" remaining after the cataclysmic lightning storm turned the desert, his homeland, to glass. Most of what is known about thier race has been lost in the destruction, Calumet himself was the only why discovered alive by an If rescue party, though his arm was badly injured and one of his hands had turned into glass. His race was very studious, his homeland held some of the greatest libraries in the world and many of them were very powerful wizards. They often followed a path to enlightement as a religion, and meditation was a regular part of the land's morning, the entirety of them often meditated together in the mornings, just like they did on the day they all died.

      *And on the reverse side,
-Vivian and Arthur look like cat people, and they are, but they are actually from a parallel dimension where cats evolved the highest as opposed to apes, so to them, they are normal humans.
-Darwin looks like a demon, but he is actually a genetically modified human.

theres a lot lot LOT more information I haven't put down or thought of yet. xD I overthink all my dolls characters and try to think about thier every detail.

    16. All but two of my characters live in the human realm in their RP world. Though three of those are not human. Two are high-born Silver Elves, and one is half human and half wood-elf. The silvers have pointed ears... and one, who was half-turned by a clan of vampires, has retractable fangs. But by and large, they pass as human.

The two who are living in another "world" are non-human. One is very unplanned at the moment, unsure exactly what he is going to be other than sculpt. The other boy, Azyreth, is a Cocophonic. Which is a race I created. He's essentially half demi-angel and half demi-demon, the two sides creating a constant internal struggle - or need for balance - creating quite the mental and emotional "cacophony".

    17. I have:
Elf's - there are three different races of elf's
Dragons - they have 3 forms human/elven, half dragon and then full dragon
Ixo-goblins - can change from a human form to an animal and have the immortality of the elf's.
Nezzer - tall evil creatures that drink blood, have no hair, are pail as death and have wings. they are also imortal
Gerolks - hey are small creatures that live under the mountains they look like children all there lives the oldest they look is 15 and they live for up to a 1000years.

    18. My EID is just human, but my other dolls are part of the Puppet Master crew, a story about dolls. There are several races.

Doll Makers: Two rivaling human families, at war with each other to see who makes the best dolls. Although they are not shown, everything in the story revolves around them. They present themselves as gods to the dolls and have created Oracles to serve as their priests (Oracles are the only ones with a direct mental link to the Makers and so they are able to communicate).

Ameretati: (ameretat is Sanskrit for 'immortal'). Created by the first Doll Maker family. These dolls have long lifespans. Their resin doesn’t decay and they are immune to deceases like String Fever and Resin Rot.
Just like the Mitra, any doll could be an Ameretat, whether stylized or realistic, small or tall. The only difference is that they have unnaturally coloured eyes.

Mitra: (Sanskrit for “Friend”) Created by the second human family. Their brittle resin prevents them from living longer than 40 years. Yellowing is usually the first stage of decay, a process that could accelerate when a doll has contracted Resin Rot. Some Mitra try to delay their ‘death’ by replacing infected doll parts. Since the clinic asks for an exorbitant fee, this is usually only an option for the wealthy though.

Because of their shorter lives, they are generally more ambitious and recourseful and as a result, they have been the predominant race for the last few centuries.

Ancients: Not really a race. They are Ameretati who have survived the great massacre of the 1200’s - the last uprising against their gods. People admire their long live's history, but at the same time reject them for their treason. Even today, they remain social outcasts. Most of them turn to illegal professions to provide for themselves.

The Barbarian Horde: Whether they have six eyes, four arms, or have a human torso on a lion's body, these dolls don't look like regular dolls. Nobody knows who created these hybrids. Both the Doll Makers and their creations consider them as abominations and they are looked down upon. The Barbarians have their own kingdom, deep within the desert surrounding civilization.

    19. I have a zombie, a ghost, a vampire, two demons, an immortal, an android and a chimera here. So no new types here. ^^

    20. I created a species of a sort for my two hooved dolls. I have a boy that's green, and a girl that's blue. Because I wanted to liken them to deer, I did a little internet digging and found that "Shika" is the Japanese word for deer, so that was the name given to the species. They're not so much from mythology as I just kind of made up the storyline for them.
