Choosing your first doll - How hard was it for you?

Jul 28, 2008

    1. Impulse buy for me. I was browsing on ebay and fell in love with Sky from B&G. I vaguely knew about dollfies and bjd at the time. It was one of the few accesible to me (yay ebay) since i didn't know any companies and was lazy to research.
Im very happy with SKY and he's still with me :P

    2. I searched for about a week. looking at tons of sites, but I went with the doll I instantly fell in love with.

    3. It took me some months to decide, actually. At the beginning, I didn't know many doll companies and I saw a few dolls that I thougt were really pretty, but then I couldn't decide which one I liked best, because none of them seemed special enough, somehow...
Well, some day I discovered DOD, I really liked their dolls and I kept coming back to that site... kept looking at the DOTs, especially Lahoo.... and slowly I realized that he was just.... right. That he was the one doll I really, really wanted:)
I just ordered him a few weeks ago, so I can't really say if I'll regret it later, but so far I'm very, very happy with my choice:) Can't wait till he arrives...

    4. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
It was a spark...like IT said "Choose me!"
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
      I don't know...
Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
DZ-Floy. He's my first and i'll always love him.

    5. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I wasn't thinking about which doll I wanted to be my first, when I bought my first doll I didn't know very much about them. I only joined DoA after I had bought my doll and I was waiting for her to come home.

And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
I found my doll on eBay (terrible place to look, I know...:doh) I was looking at a Domuya Day and thought she was very pretty...but then I found a Soulkid Snyder and she looked so much like me I thought it was fate that I should bring her home.

Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
Soulkid Snyder girl, and of course I still own Gwenllian, I'll never sell her - I would feel too bad!

    6. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I saw this dool in fotoalbum of one girl and understood what BJD-reality.
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
I understood it at once when I saw a doll.
Did you get unhappy with your choice?
      I am satisfied the choice.
Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one?
      I don`t want other doll.
Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
My first dool will be sabik from SOOM.
extra question: Were you even able to choose it? Was it a present?
      oh,yes!

    7. I'm not sure exactly when I finally came across DOD, but I was almost instantly enamored with Camine when I saw him. He was perfect in every way, and even though I had a few other molds I liked, none of them compared to Camine! I still feel the same way about him, and have never regretted buying him as my first doll! <3

    8. I had an instant severe crush on Narae, more then a crush really. Might sound odd but they were so mine, as soon as I saw them, I knew I had to bring them home. I knew pretty much nothing of the hobby at that point, I just stumbled over a picture of Jubriel's Ila (now Kahlen, owned by Raouken) on DA and from there I was sold. So I did extensive research and ordered the girls two weeks later.
Unhappy - I don't think so. I don't have them yet and after what I've been told, I guess they will be more magnificent then I imagine, I haven't seen a BJD in person so I only know what I got myself into after the pictures.
I don't wish I had ordered anyone else. I looked at almost every company I could find to see if something else clicks as crazily as Narae but nope. I did develop a wishlist while doing it but nothing close to them.

    9. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I did a TON of searching before I even started finding dolls that suited my taste. I remember that I stumbled upon the Luts site and saw the teaser for SDFs...and literally went crazy over that one picture. I couldn't see the entire face, I couldn't see most of the body, but I got so excited that I knew I had to check these out once they were released. I also came upon the DOD site and loved Ducan...it took a bit of time to decide whether I should get the SDF or DOT as my first....

And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
Right after I saw that teaser and the first real photo release. And guess what? I saw the first Abadon picture and fell in love with it there. Again, I did a bit of debating with myself, but I still chose the SDF.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one?
While my Abadon was got a custom face-up from Luts (I requested a bunch of small details that make him look much better than the one on the site ^_^), he's a good version of what I knew I HAD to get, as soon as possible. A bit on the mopey, antisocial side, but I love him to death and wouldn't want any other for my first. I definitely picked the right one to start out with. (I don't even care for the DOT Ducan anymore, haha!)

Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
My Luts SDF, custom-faced Abadon who, after a year and a half of fighting over names with him, finally compromised with his stubborn personality and named him Alkuna. And of COURSE, I still own him. ^_^ I'm even getting another!

    10. It was kind of an impulse/love at first sight thing for me. XD I was just browsing for my first BJD and it was just like. "O_O He's the one I want." :)

    11. Choosing my first doll was extremely difficult cause I already had a character image in my head that he had to fit to. I choose one would find another and then find another. I did finally decided and my dead Spinel will be on his way to me monday Feb 9

    12. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first? I went by which doll was the cutest and most affordable for me at the time. I wasn't even 100% sure if I wanted to stay in the hobby. So I guess you could say the doll I bought was one I could "test".

And when did you know that this doll should be your first? I really loved looking at his eyes and I'd come back to him more and more and then I realized I had to have the little guy.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one? Nope. I love the little guy to death and I'm happy that I took the plunge and bought him. Buying him also made me aware that I wanted to stay in the hobby and that I was willing to put in the time and effort for it. (And eventually try to buy more dolls ;))

Which doll was your first and do you still own it? My first doll is my Bobobie Elfkin and yes, he's still with me, cute as ever :aheartbea.

    13. Heh, CLEARLY I didn't do my research. I never realized there were two sizes of Obitsu head. But anyway, while at first I thought "Hell, this stupid ball joint obitsu is no more posable than a ball joint doll... and it SQUEAKS. Yuk. Shoulda got an Fdoll." But every time I look at her boobs... I know I love her.

I still hate her face though. But that's fine, because Obitsu heads are dirt cheap and in a week or so I should have... 3.

    14. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I saw him. I was at a convention and couldn't leave with out him. I bought him totally at random ><

And when did you know that this doll should be your first? When I walked past him and went back for him when the dealers room opened at the crack of dawn. Litterally Me and my friend set our alarms and made sure we were some of the first people to enter the dealer's room. True I didn't know that stand was selling them at first but when I found out I spazzed ><

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one? I am completely happy, I don't regret it one bit. I damn near cried I never thought I'd ever be able to afford a BJD let alone being able to get the display model. Lol I was so happy I took him around the con even with no pants >.> I just couldn't put him in the box.

Which doll was your first and do you still own it? AAYi and yup still got him. He's so spoiled XD

    15. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I alwaya wanted a luts doll and i found at the maketplace a bory girl and i knew this needed to be my first doll. then i bought a bee-a also that was another of my favorites.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one?
Im so in love with my bory girl! Shes so cute and her make up. I love bee-a also and her make up is so beautiful but she didnt fit in my family i always wanted so i decided to sale her.

Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
My first was a bory girl and shes i still own her.
extra question: Were you even able to choose it? Was it a present?

    16. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?

      I was surfing on the internet every day or so, looking for THE doll, looking for a doll I'd like, at a cheap price ("to begin at first"', I suppose you get the idea);

And when did you know that this doll should be your first?

I saw her on picture. She was having a strange make up, she had no wig, no clothes. But I knew she was coming to my home :) I did not even know companies/molds and so on, at first.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one?

The french postal services are so... unefficient, they send to me the other doll the seller was sending that same day. And the other person ended up with mine. We have been VERY lucky : we were living in the same area. I can't imagine if we had to re-send it again to each other. The other doll was quite pretty too, I had a bit of a jealousy feeling. But it quickly disappears.

So, she came to my house, with my doll, and we made the exchange. At first, I was quite puzzled : I did not even open MY box with MY first doll. She was blank, no wig, nude. She was strange, she had pink/red eyes.

Which doll was your first and do you still own it?

It's a Kid Delf dreaming An, turned into a girl. She's soooo pretty, I love her to bits.:aheartbea

    17. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
It took me about two weeks of looking online at all the possibilities. I knew I had a budget, and had heard good things about Lati, then I saw Yellow Lami... and I couldn't stop looking at her.

And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
When I kept going back to the site every few minutes to look at her stock pictures. She just looked so sweet.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one?
No. I love her completely, but I do wish I had ordered her a sister... she's a little lonely.

Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
Lati Yellow Lami, and yes, I still have her!

    18. I was having a really hard time deciding what doll to get first, but since I found out the Blue Fairy is going to be going out of business, the choice was easy to get a BF Olive first....before I never can...

    19. I decided my doll should be my first cause he seemed to have floated out of the river of dolls, like he was calling out, he clung desperately to my dreams and wishes so I decided I'd have him.
About a month after I looked at him
Actually no, I thought he was a perfect choice!
Yes I still own him. And he's a Dream Of Doll DOC Face-upless Homme Kirill
I was able to choose him on my own cause my mother said so but it was meant to be a late birthday present.

    20. How did YOU decide which doll should be your first? I researched every company I could find. I always like Dream of Dolls dolls and I knew that I wanted a MSD size and I wanted a more mature looking boy. Then I discovered Dollzone Mo. So I had to make a decision between a Homme Kirill and a Mo. I looked at every owner picture I could find of the two molds and decided on a Mo because I felt that I could give him is own look.

And when did you know that this doll should be your first? My husband also like the Mo mold and told me not to worry about the price. And I still knew that I wanted the less expensive doll.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one? I love him so much and I am so glad that I went with a Dollzone Mo.

Which doll was your first and do you still own it? I still own my Dollzone Mo and I can't imagine selling him.

extra question: Were you even able to choose it? Was it a present?
He was a birthday present but I got to choose him myself.
