1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Coaxing when you are saving up/paying off a doll

Apr 22, 2016

    1. So I'm currently saving up for my next doll and the wait is killing me! I got my first resin doll this past year and I wanted to get another, but my twin wants one as well so since we live in the same house...we decided to order together. I'm getting a lilac resinsoul Song and she is getting a NS resinsoul MeI. I technically have the money for mine but she has to save for hers. So how do you cope with waiting for you to buy or pay off your dollies?

    2. Do you mean cope or coax. To coax someone is to influence them to do something and to sway their opinion or decision, usually in your own favor. To cope is to live with or endure something you might otherwise not want to. Like coping with a disease or waiting for a friend to have the money to buy a doll.

      Sorry, the reason I ask this is because your post is hard to understand without that clarification.

    3. Yeah I meant cope my phones autocorrect changed it.

    4. If I am doing layaway and I have a little bit extra money I will buy things for them so when they come home I have some stuff to play with them in like wigs and clothes. I think that makes the wait more bearable

    5. Haha I already live on sites like Alice Collections and etsy. I can't wait until I can order my boy.

    6. How about working on things for your current doll, or (if this is your twin's first doll) teaching your twin about BJDs and introducing her to the online community, showing her how faceups working, hanging out with her and making accessories/clothes, and so on? That depends on your relationship, of course, but if you get along it might help a lot to deal with the waiting together and maybe even bond a bit.

      For your first doll, why not learn to sew or practice improving your skills by making them a new wardrobe? You can also think of it as developing your skills so that you can pamper your new doll when they arrive. If you're comfortable making clothes for the doll that isn't here yet, that could be great, too!

      If buying/making stuff for dolls that you're saving money for sounds financially stressful, you can always go on a shopping trip (with your twin, alone, with friends, whatever) to a cheap thrift store. Pick out clothes with nice fabrocs that you can use for simple dresses or tops.

      You can also take a total break from dolls! Sometimes a good way to cope is to take yourself out of the situation that's stressing you. Keep saving, don't let yourself make "fun" purchases until you've made your monthly payments, but explore other interests and hobbies in the meantime. Pick up your favorite book series from your childhood. Get into a new TV show. Grab extra hours at work or make it a goal to get a specific grade in a class. Having something else to think about and immerse yourself in can be great!

      You can definitely survive this wait. You'll love your new kid even more with all the built-up anticipation. :thumbup

    7. Good ideas! I have been working on some jewelry for bjds and I kinds want to make him an earring. I have been letting my sister mess around with my doll and get use to her. We have been stalking etsy and the marketplace for CUTE clothes for our incoming dolls as well to make sure we have everything before they arrive. We don't want nekkid elves running around the house XD

    8. While I'm saving up, I work on the character development. I can't do much else when I don't have any spare money.

      Once I have the money and have paid off or am working on paying off a doll, if I have spare cash, I'll buy things for them or make things to fit their character.

    9. I'm not saving right now but I'm trying to hold off on buying anything else until my doll gets here, and I've been posting on DOA as much as possible to dull the pain & nerves of the wait LOL.

    10. There are a few things you can do to make the wait time a little more bearable. You can make things for your upcoming doll that you think might look good. You can delve into another hobby in the meantime, so the wait will fly by. I usually swap to another hobby while waiting for things.

    11. Lot of staring at photos of said BJD - "researching" it online. Doing so has given me ideas for my doll like what kind of wig I'd wanna get for it, accessories etc...to be honest though, after looking at photos online, it made the wait harder at times tooo ahhhhhh ;_;
