1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Cold room

Nov 23, 2022

    1. Is it safe to display my dolls in a cold room..I'm asking cause the extra bedroom I don't use the heat and be a perfect room for my dolls..I just don't want the resin to start cracking an stuff for being in a cold room

    2. I guess this would be dependent on where you live. If it is somewhere you can skip heating a room I'm guessing the temperatures don't dip horridly low. If this is the case, it should be okay. Your temps shouldn't drop low enough that the doll should become fragile due to the cold temperatures alone.

    3. The resin itself is probably fine, I'd worry more about paint-jobs/sealants. Those are more finicky when it comes to extreme temperatures. However, a regular room that isn't heated doesn't tend to cool down that heavily vs. a garage for example.
The temperature in there should still be fine. My own dolls are in a rarely heated room as well, it's only heated when I have to work on face-ups or do stuff with my PC. Right now it's 17° Celsius here, no biggie.

    4. Many places in my city are victorian/edwardian wood buildings with no insulation, so rooms get pretty chilly when they aren't occupied and heated in the winter. Sometimes cold enough to see your breath a little bit. But we don't get snow and the average temp stays above 40 degrees (4 degrees celsius). It's also pretty moist/damp here.

I don't know if that qualifies as "cold" but I've had friends from snowy places stay with me complain about being cold in my apt. They're used to cold outdoor weather but have things like insulated buildings and central heating. YMMV.

I've had dolls in this apt for almost 20 years without any reaction to cold specifically.

    5. Several of my dolls are displayed in our spare bedroom (which we only heat when we have guests) and none of them have suffered in around 18 years of having BJDs. I'm in England, known of r our cold and rainy weather. I don't know what the temperatres are like in North Caroline, but I don't think I've ever heard of dolls or sealants reacting to being kept in unheated rooms. I'm sure if it was an issue there would be at least a few threads here on DoA where it had been discussed.

    6. This thread was reassuring to read. :) I plan to keep my dolls in my bedroom which I never heat up. Sounds like it will be okay.
