It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Collectors of floating heads?

Jan 13, 2013

    1. I suppose buying heads and swapping them out on one body would be a good way to save money. I did that with one doll temporarily while I was waiting for a separate body, but for the most part I wouldn't want to do that because I like to have all my dolls displayed at one time and they're all unique (not just resin, but I mean their characters and styles and such). I have one head without a body. For a while he bothered me, I was so anxious about getting him a body, but I sent him out for a faceup and the artist was so slow I just said nevermind after a while, and put him in a drawer and haven't thought about him much since.

    2. That's what I was thinking;just stock pile eyes and wigs for them and keep them on stands. xD

    3. Are you currently doing this?
Yep! I collect SuperGem (65-70cm) sized dolls, and with 20+ characters I simply can't afford to have one body for every character! I currently have eight bodies (five female and three male) that are shared between all my heads.

If so how many noggins are you up to?
18 home, and 3 on the way! Some of them don't have to share bodies with any other heads yet (for example, I only have one Brown Tan head, and only one Bronze head of each gender). My female Cream White body is the most crowded - I have six heads all claiming it (and one of the incoming heads is CW as well).

Do you keep them in a box or out on display to creep people out? xD
I keep all my dolls packed in boxes to protect them from yellowing, heads included :) I am planning on eventually casting some busts to display them on, though!

What are your opinions on collecting floating heads?
I think they're a great way to enable very large collections of characters without necessitating very large amounts of money spent, or very large amounts of space taken up!

    4. Are you currently doing this?
      Yes

If so how many noggins are you up to?
14 total, 2 of those are sleeping heads.

Do you keep them in a box or out on display to creep people out? xD
I plan to buy clear plastic box to keep them from dirt and will put them in storage if not in use. I don't think that I will display just the head on the shelf, it's feel creepy to me.

If not, have you thought about collecting them?
      -

What are your opinions on collecting floating heads (With or with out shared bodies)?
I don't think that I have space for all the full doll since my endless love on collecting them. This way is work best for me.

    5. I do have a few floating heads I've had for years, but I'd really like to get them a fitting body at some time. The main reason why these heads are still floating is that I haven't found a body that matches their character yet and when I do, it will take me a long time to save up for it.

I don't think I could do with just floating head. Their 'unfinished' state would drive me crazy :).

    6. I bought all my heads first then planned to get bodies. When they arrived i hated the resin colour. Ever since they have just stayed hidden in a box

    7. I have one head right now, but he'll have a body eventually. I'm not entirely sure who he is yet, or if I'm keeping him. But if I do, he'll have a body. I display him with the my other dolls. I don't see a reason not to.

However, I am eventually planning to have a doll that will be just a floating head. I had a dream when I was younger about this giant and floating red-skinned head that spit fireballs at my friends and I at daycare. His name was Jafar and I'd like to put him in doll version. I'd probably keep his body, just in case I wanted it later, instead of selling it.

    8. Are you currently doing this?
Yes, but not on a huge scale.

If so how many noggins are you up to?
Three. I have two boys sharing one body, and then there's a third head that doesn't even have a faceup (and also doesn't have a body it can use).

Do you keep them in a box or out on display to creep people out? xD
The ones that aren't on a body are safely stored in little boxes.

If not, have you thought about collecting them?
I don't have any major plans to collect floating heads. My guys will each have their own body eventually, although I do want one other head that can go with this body, and one other that can go with a body I'm intending to purchase later this year. That would keep my total number of floating heads rather low.

What are your opinions on collecting floating heads (With or with out shared bodies)?
I wouldn't like to collect heads without at least having a body that they could take turns with. I prefer full dolls, but I don't mind having heads share a body. I know a lot of people prefer to collect many floating heads but it is not something I am really keen on doing to a great extent.
