1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Company Loyalty

Nov 13, 2017

    1. I have been loyal to Rosen Lied and Villitunes. Rosen Lied really won my heart over. It was everything... from the way it is packed, to the beautiful set as a whole. My heart is really breaking right now that the company might not come back...
I try looking at other companies, and I don't feel any kind of bond or nothing that interests me.

    2. I think it really depends on the person buying. To me the most important thing is how the company treats their customers and what the dolls looks like. EG. there's a company that's rather notorious for people waiting years to get their doll and being real slow with refunds. I'd never buy there, no matter how pretty their dolls.
Good customer contact is important if i am to toss a large sum of money at them.
As a result i have a surprising ammount of different dolls. Most of them a second hand and i've only ever bought from people who's been pleasant to deal with really. The companies i have from are some companies i really love, Dollmore being really up there because of beforementioned and their melancholic looking dolls.

    3. I'm not exactly "brand loyal", but if I can't choose ordering between two companies, I'll buy from one I'm already familiar with and haven't had trouble with. Tossing a lot of money to an unknown company that doesn't necessarily have a very good customer service in English is always a bit of a leap of faith.

    4. My favorite BJD company is Volks, I really like the quality of their clothing line and I adore like 90% of their dolls. Their resin quality is amazing and the face-ups look exactly like the promo photos.

But my loyalty has its limits, I wouldn't just buy something from Volks just because it has the brand logo on it.
I always do my research beforehand to make sure that I get my money's worth. For example, I think that there are a lot of better + cheaper options when it comes to wigs (the ones from Volks tend to have too little hair so you can see the wig cap).

    5. My favorite company is 5 Star Doll. Sadly they have discontinued most of their dolls. I would gladly buy more from them if I could.
      I also loyal to Resinsoul/Bobobie.

    6. When I got back into the hobby earlier this year, I leaned into Azone hard (I know some people don’t consider them BJDs, but they use Obitsu frames).

Unfortunately their clothes tend to be quite plain, expensive and poor quality, so I jumped ship to Volks for clothes.

    7. When I first began in this hobby years ago, I deliberately chose to create a fantasy world for my doll characters to inhabit. I did that so I could freely celebrate my joy of diversity, freeing me up to choose whatever doll fit a specific character without worrying about how well they matched one another. This has truly worked out perfectly for me, allowing me to choose from whatever company has caught my fancy. Given that, however, I have found myself repeatedly going back to certain companies because I enjoy their quality, aesthetics, and diversity of sizes…Luts is a perfect example of this. I also really enjoy the aesthetics of Volks, Fairyland and Doll Chateau for certain characters, and have gone back to them repeatedly. But I won’t hesitate to purchase from an entirely different company if it’s sculpt suits the specific character I have in mind.

    8. I have two Luts dolls, one from Fairyland, and a 1/3 doll from an off topic company. I have a Souldoll on layaway. Brand loyal? Nah.

I seem to have accidentally started a collection of non-human dolls. I have only one that is human, all the others have animal parts or a faceup that’s not human. When I started collecting resin dolls I didn’t expect it to really have a theme or aesthetic because the rest of my life is about as chaotic and non-aesthetic as it can be. So, if I see a company with a doll that’s interesting to me I will consider adding it to my collection but I seem to be most attracted to fantasy creatures.

    9. My first 5 dolls were all Fairyland Littlefee, and I still love them a lot, but more recently I have been drawn to other companies dolls of a similar size because I like being able to compare them and see the differences, like how all people are different having different builds of dolls as well is pleasing to me, so for a while I was loyal to a company, but now I find that I no longer am.

I do still love Littlefee, and if Fairyland ever do another tan a la carte event for them I will definitely buy another one.

    10. While I don't consider I have a "loyalty" to any company, it is true that as years have passed in this hobby and I've bought dolls from different companies and heard things about this and that company, I've developed a sense of which companies I trust and like for myself and which ones I do not.
Plus, as I'm very nitpicky about certain aesthetics and having a doll family that fits with each other, the range of companies I have dolls from and I would have dolls in the future is relatively small (like 3-4 companies).

    11. No company loyalty here, with all these beautiful dolls from multiple companies I can't even imagine sticking to just one.
That being said I follow what Soull Doll is up to:XD:

    12. Not loyal per se, but I do have a lot from one particular artist because I think the dolls are adorable, they are a size that is my favorite and they pose like no other doll I have ever had. I don't like the whole loyal connotation though because I feel like it implies that I agree with everything the artist/manufacturer does/believes and that is not the case.

    13. No company loyalty here. My dolls vary widely, and I hybridize a lot, so the more companies the merrier! When I see a doll I like from a company I don't know, I always run and check it out.

    14. I am a little more brand loyal about bodies. I really like Luts and DFH bodies.

But I am all over the place when it comes to heads. I want whatever face fits my characters and the variety works better with multiple companies.

    15. I think my biggest loyalty lies with Harucasting. I absolutely love his dolls and really think he’s a funny, kind hearted person that works very hard at what he does. I love seeing what he’s working and what’s going to come out next.

I used to have a heavy loyalty to Fairyland, but it has waned a bit in the past year. Not because of anything they did; it was honestly more personal issues and my tastes evolving a bit, and I wanted to change how I was collecting.

But other than that, I like having dolls from a variety of artists/companies, and like to try out new ones.

    16. I have dolls from a couple of different companies, but I always come back to Fairyland, my first loves. They just pose SO well, I love them!

    17. I don't know if it counts as loyalty per se, but I swear Myou Doll is my go-to for when I want to check for a sculpt look or body. Especially the bodies- my second doll was a secondhand Myou Ailsa, and I was blown away by how well she poses! So now my first doll is an April Story/Myou Doll hybrid.

Island Doll also has a lot of sculpts that I like, but I currently only have one doll from them (Aggie). Hoping to get a second one though!

    18. I'm not particularly loyal to any one company, although I do have some companies I will seek out in the future (Atelier Momoni has been consistently lovely) and others I will never seek out again (my dollshe girl is beautiful and I never want to order another one ever). MYOU is also a lovely one, but some of their aesthetic just isn't for me. They were a perfect introduction to the hobby, though, since they pose well and are easy to sew for. I'll always recommend them to people. ^.^

    19. I'm not one to be tied down by 'cohesive' aesthetics; I've owned everything from 80cm Mecha Angel to 11.2cm PukiPuki. But there are a few companies I like to go to for certain things, and I do have a sense of loyalty towards individual artists. I spring for a glimpse of every new Dust of Dolls, Twigling, or MerryDollRound sculpt because I love their respective works and have supported them for years. It doesn't mean that every release is for me, but it does mean that I may restructure my doll budget with them in mind more readily than I would for others. Ultimately it comes down to what I want, what I can afford, and how readily available I think it might be in the future. My collection was all company dolls and one artist doll when I was an unemployed student doing odd jobs and saving pocket money. Now I'm an adult and I think the artist dolls may outnumber the company dolls, since I have a bigger budget and more luxury to choose what I want.

Right now what I want is to pay off the things I am already buying. And a big orc lady from Bonelace.

    20. I can't say for certain yet, but I like the idea of picking a company, and ordering dolls only from them so they are "really" related. But maybe I'm being cheesy.
