1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Company Loyalty

Nov 13, 2017

    1. Company loyalty does not really play a large role in my collection. Stylistic preferences yes but not loyalty. So far none of my dolls are from the same company. And they each are very different size and style wise.

    2. I'm not sure if I have company loyalty or if certain companies just tend to more often create sculpts I enjoy. Doll Zone is a company who I own a lot of dolls from just because I enjoy how unique and kind of spooky their sculpts can be. Coralreef I also enjoy a lot because of how unique and distinct their sculpts are. Switch is a company I use to really enjoy because their sculpts are always pretty, but they're out of my budget so I don't have many dolls from them and my tastes have shifted to where I now find them kind of boring despite still being very pretty. A company I have admiration for, but own no dolls from, is Peak's Woods. I think their sculpts are gorgeous but they're just so expensive, especially after shipping, that I don't own any yet (despite very much wanting to). I guess you could say I'm loyal to these companies because I keep returning, but I tend to return for the sculpts and not for the company name, if that makes sense.

I will say, though, I am very loyal to Alice's Collections. They're my go to dealer and I buy most my dolls from them (save for second hand dolls or dolls that are sold through individual company websites). I have nothing but positive experiences with them and they're always so helpful and accommodating when I have questions or concerns. I also really enjoy the events they have and how cheap (and often free) their shipping rates are.

    3. I like collecting dolls from different companies (as full dolls or hybrids!) so I don't have direct company loyalty as 'this is what my collect is/is mostly,' but I do have a lot of preferences and loyalty for dealers when I am not buying from a company directly - my go-to's are almost always denverdoll or alice collections ^^

    4. i tend to stick to resinsoul. i’m not a fan of some of their larger sculpts(and i do love a good dollzone doll) but their msd’s and their yosds are really cute so i tend to try to only get those!

    5. I usually buy second-hand dolls, but I do feel attatched to classic old volks bodies. Otherwise, I rarely buy from the same company over and over. I like to have semi-realistic dolls but from different sculptors, so I tend to get one of each kind.
As for the dealers, though, there are two places where I come back with pleasure and those are Alice's Collections and MoriTime. Always :)

    6. I don't know that I am exactly company loyal, but I do constantly check Dream Valley for new dolls. I am in love with so many of their sculpts, and my collection is mostly from them. It has been a real struggle to not buy all the dragon versions they have released in the last year or two :whee:

    7. I definitely have a stylistic preference to soom however I don’t think I’m entirely loyal as I’ve also loved other companies besides soom that I would want to purchase from for example loongsoul.

    8. I was definitely company loyal when I first started collecting. It just felt safe to stick with a company that I had good buying experiences with as a newbie.
Now I am definitely branching out and hopefully adding more dolls from other artists.

    9. I began with a Smart Doll, which has a rather rabidly loyal fan base, though I didn't continue to purchase any other dolls from them. I have one Angel Philia (Obitsu frame), one Fairyland doll, and 5 dolls from Volks (two Super Dollfies and three Dollfie Dreams). I'm most loyal to Volks. They offer things that I can't find from other companies.

    10. I tend to go for individual sculpts rather than a company. That said, there are companies with an aesthetic that appeals to me more. Likewise, I prefer the posing of some doll companies over others. There are definitely some companies that I get more excited about when they release a new sculpt. I have bought the last four dolls released by Huajing!

    11. I have dolls from multiple companies but the ones I tend to buy most often from are Fairyland and LUTS. I adore LUTS centaurs and I love all the minifee sculpts and that's what it boiled down to. There are other dolls I would like to have though. If only I had infinite money and space.

    12. I wouldn't say I'm loyal to companies, but there are companies that I know and trust to do certain things I like.
I love all of Iplehouse's mature female face sculpts, and I will always be delighted by whatever scary, gorgeous new thing Dream Valley comes up with.
I can always count on Dollmore to have the best customer service and the widest selection of, well, just about everything. DDE has one of the best in-stock collections of dolls to shop. And I prefer to order from ACBJD because of their free shipping. Plus, all of the clothing I've purchased from them has been excellent quality, and their turnaround time on orders is good (unless an entire port is shut down due to COVID, but that's hardly their fault).
But lately, I'm drawn to the more affordable companies: Resinsoul, Doll Leaves, and MYOU dolls. It seems like I can get all of the posability and beautiful sculpting of more expensive companies at a fraction of the price - with the aid of a little hot glue.

    13. I don't feel royalty with only one brand, actually I just collect lots of dolls in some companies. Also, there are companies that make me want to buy a new product every time I see it. I tend to buy doll clothes, wigs, and items from various companies and brands. But sometimes I want to collect all the new works from a certain brand because all of them are so pretty.

    14. As much as I adore some sculpts and aesthetics from a handful of companies, I still look at each doll regardless of maker. Especially if the sculpt is very unique, like the DreamValley Archelous one that I cant seem to forget.

    15. I'm not really "loyal" to a company in particular. I chose my dolls for their sclupts, not the company they're from. I'm very fond of Volks, but I also own dolls from other companies. But I can say that if a company has a very bad reputation, I would be more encline to buy somewhere else even if i'm interested in one of their sculpts.

    16. I love soom, but other company I will also buy.

    17. I don't have 'brand loyalty' in the sense that I'll only buy from one or two brands-- but I definitely have brands I am eager to buy from in the future because of the experience I've had!

With Iplehouse, what had me go back once and will have me buy again someday in the future is the group cohesion-- I want to be able to tell a story with my FIDs, and they really only fit with each other stylistically, though they can share some props and furniture with my msd/slim minis (Jack also has a couple 1/3 props that suit him really well, it just depends on the object since he's an odd size). I love the realistic aesthetics and want to be able to create a little world for them.

With resinsoul, I had such a fantastic experience-- I received her as my birthday gift, with a custom color split, and she's a solid stander and so cute and fun, that I would absolutely order from them for myself in future.

With my artist dolls, part of it is that I fell in love with those dolls at cons (and one floating head that I fell in love with online), and part of it is just... like, getting to meet and chat with their sculptors! While I still only have one bjd/head each from those individual artists, they're all people I really want to buy from again (and, in one case, was lucky enough to buy a little resin statuette the following con)-- With one, it's because I've followed their work a long time and love ALL of it, with another, it's because I want to get a partner for the first doll that will be the right aesthetic match and I'd love to buy from the same artist for it, and with the head sculptor... well, I went and fell in love with two more heads and it's been a struggle to wait until I get a body for the first.

    18. I’ve got a favorite line of dolls from a company but they aren’t the only dolls I collect. Anytime there’s a Dollfie Icon lottery, I guarantee you I’ve entered it. That’s not exactly brand loyalty though.

I really like small studio dolls since they have the freedom to be more adventurous with their dolls.

    19. I guess in a way I am loyal to few companies. Most of my collection currently consists of Soom and Little Monica, because I love their sculpts and aesthetics for my characters. I have not intentionally started to buy several dolls from them, it just has happened. From the past I have had dolls from several other companies as well and I also check regularly many other companies for new releases that I absolutely love. When it comes to buying tools and supplies I tend to go to Alice Collection and Dollmore.

    20. I have actively tried not to collect lots of dolls from the same company, because there was so much I felt curious and passionate about and I wanted to see it all! But I have some repeats, and of those I certainly ended up with a lot of volks parts. I have two DDs remaining now, a DD hybrid, and a SDgr guy I've split up (gave his body to someone else). Volks was the company I bought direct from most (DD heads, once a resin world cup head) because in the USA it was convenient and I liked their aesthetic in general. And there was nothing about their company I knew really irritating me. I may keep buying more bodies second hand because I think they are very cute. But I think that's about how I make my decisions at this point. I don't have the energy to go that far out of my way repeatedly :XD:
I've bought so little of my stuff new I feel like my "brand loyalties" hardly matter, but there are a couple other companies I returned to repeatedly because I love their dolls and they have good service, same for doll stuff. Although I like variety and such I'm also a creature of habit with some desire to minimize risks, so aside from the massive amount of things I bought second hand, if a dealer or shopping site or company has provided me good service I tend to go back to look before I look somewhere new.
