It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Converting and introducing people to dolls

Dec 11, 2004

    1. I have introduced two people, one who is about to get a doll and one who really wants one now- one friend I seemed to have turned off as she was scared of my souldoll paris when I took his head off!

    2. My mum, she's a retired dress maker since I've had my doll she's fallen for her and wants to start her own business clothe making for delf girls. ;) No need to thank me.

    3. Um.. pretty much all my closest friends are interested in BJDs now because of me. :'D
None of them have yet to get one, though.

    4. Note: I've just merged the threads "I'm so evil, I think I've hooked one of my friends on BJDs" and "Ever convinced someone into liking your BJDs?" into this one. :daisy

    5. So far, I introduced five people.
Four of another forum (one of them bought my first doll) and one I know in real life. She's going to buy a doll next year, or so.

    6. Merged the thread "Who have you introduced to dollfies?" into this one and changed the overall title to make it clearer. :sweat

    7. To date, I've 'converted' five of my friends, though some unintentionally. Three of those five now have their own dolls, and one of those three now has more dolls than I do! ^_^ I love my hobby, and I love my friends. If I can merge the two, I get very very happy!

    8. When I first got into BJDs my friend was like, "Why don't you just a Barbie instead?" and even ragged on the dolls for being cheap plastic and too expensive, but after I actually got mine, he definitely changed his mind.. now he wants one too!
One of my other friends took a look at my Volks catalog and was intrigued, but she has her heart set on DoD now after she saw my T-Too XD
Unfortunately the vast majority of my friends still think they're either "creepy" or "not worth the price".. of course they're also boys, who have more an 'image' to uphold I guess..

    9. well... xD I started a picturediary for minou and now 40 people has it on their watchlist. Tons of people have asked me where I got "that beautiful doll" and five or six of my closer friends have started collecting money. (I know that at least three of them wasn't interested until I got Mino, the others didn't start collecting because of me but.. still xD I learned about BJDs from a friend irl and I think he has converted loads of people, hah. It's funny watching it grow among your friends, though.)

These dolls are contagious, you know? Your friends get them and then you feel you must have one. Then you "need" another. And then you're doomed D:

    10. a friend introduced me XD BUT actually, two of the people who were kinda against me getting one are now looking into buying one. :3

    11. I was converted by a friend, and now I've converted my sister and my mum is halfway there

    12. I may have succesfully converted one friend. She likes sewing, and she loved the thought of having such an easy model, so it wasn't that difficult.

Another friend... She kind of wants a doll now. She has both me and a third mutual friend tempting her with ours. She just feels like if she starts... She won't be able to stop (she's right!), so she won't get one.

I'm working on it though. ;)

edit: Definitely converted my first friend, she'll be getting an Iplehouse Iris! :dance

    13. all my friend (simoneless) had to do was show me a picture of his baby and I wanted one from first sight... I have actually never even seen one in person-- probably won't until she comes...

    14. Heh, exact same thing happened to me a while back, and I didn't even HAVE any of my kids with me at the time!

At my favourite resturant, I get along really well with the owners. I was talking to one about my dolls (after he'd already met the two of them) and a woman overheard us talking and asked about it. She was a much older woman, probably late-forties. So, I told her the basics of the dolls, warned her of the prices, and gave her links to all the majour doll sites and DoA.

But the funniest part was her husband sitting next to her. He didn't say a word, but he kept on shooting both of us dirty looks, and when she noticed she'd shoot him one right back. You could almost HEAR their unheard words...

'Don't you get started on something so stupid and expensive!'
'Hush, I'm trying to listen to this girl...'

It was so amusing I didn't even take offence to his glares. XD

    15. i am one of the converted :o

Ms.Reinhardt (St.Reinhardt over here) and i were in another forum and she showed us pics of her Hyun 2 years ago  considering my hobbies/interests from before was never geared towards dolls, i find it very surprising that im still hooked on to it so i decided to finally buy one for myself (this year) instead of looking at others dolls :sweat

there were a few others who voiced interest during Ms.R's poison campaign  but as far as i know, only myself and taesake (taesui over here) are the two who have survived this long :o

id like to help promote (poison) to more people about bjds~ :D

    16. I've been telling my best friend about how I want a doll and showing her pictures of them. She says she thinks they're cool, but that my interest "better not be contagious!" :) (Cause neither of us have a whole lot of money right now.)

    17. It's not that I'm out to "convert the masses", it's just nice to have another Doll Nerd with you. <3

I've converted my friend. She has a few dolls on her wish list, she has plans for them, and the utter sign of conversion, she doesn't think the price is ridiculous.

    18. well i've been going on and on about dolls for months. My best friends has just kinda blended into it, they kno how important Rae is to me and accepts it. Now that i've got him home i talk less of him. ^^ thank god for that.

Nowthe last doll meet up i held was in a mini starbucks. We were in a corner and taking photos. Then a lady with her daughter came and asked us where to get them and asked for info ^^

The guy who works there took a double take and asked about the dolls. he looked impressed to say the least. hehe we might be going back to that starbucks so we might be able to fun into him again.

But major converting? My bro. although my friends are interested they don't want one... i'm working on it. Tho i don't mind, if ppl want to kno i tell them. if they don't i shut up.

    19. I'd like to have other people to talk about BJDs with, you know, besides others online *no offense of course*....

I've kind of converted on friend; she kind of likes them now,

My other friend thought they all looked like girls, thought they were WAY too expensive and that I was stupid for wanting one....
      She even swore they were really used as 'sex dolls' because they were anatomically correct and because of something she watched on Discovery channel. O_o;

    20. I haven't really gotten anyone in to the hobby yet as most of my friends are friends with a girl who has had one for quite awhile so they've known about them. I do have a friend at anime club who seemed interested in them last week, until she found out how expensive it can be, so time will only tell if the bug settled in her brain or not.
