1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Converting and introducing people to dolls

Dec 11, 2004

    1. Why not showing our dolls??? I like showing musics I like, I like showing things I like. And i like when friends want to join it or other people! Why not? It is something good and I want to share good things...
I don't want it to be a "world wide phenominon" (and even anime is not one, here a few people like and some people just know a lil bit about it.) but if somone wants to know about it, why not?
Here in Brazil we have 4 people with bjds I guess... or 5... I think it'd be wonderful more people knowing it here, I could shar my hobby, we could talk about it, do meetings...
So... I think it is a loooooooooooooovely idea ^^

    2. HUAHAHA! Sorry! I haven't seen your message... I just decided to read some´posts again >.<
      I agree... I reaaaally agree.... 100% too!! ^^
      Sorry

      Cacau

    3. BWAHAHAHA!! *runs away* :cow

Some people take really easy to these dolls, other people are so iffy about them... and then some people are absolute butts! To go with what Obscurity said, I can vouch that she couldn't walk more than a few feet without someone asking to have her picture taken with her doll! I only had my doll's picture taken once, but several people asked me about them. By then, they'd all talked with Obscurity! XD

    4. *chuckles* :cow You converter you.

    5. HAHAAHAAA too late, I'm already the designated converter for Louisville!! *gets bricked* XDD

And thank you so much, you are so sweet! ^^

      Er... *runs away again* XD

    6. Ammon: I'm GAY!

      kai: YOU DON'T COUNT!!

    7. well, my parents and brother already think i'm nuts, so me getting a bjd wasn't much to bat an eye at. lol my sister was "interested" when i showed her the site. she drooled over the elven ones, but said she'd never consider getting one.....until she saw serena in person. she was there helping me taking off the packing material and then when we could see her, she just stood there and stared at her. i'm sure she's hooked now. lol!

i have brought my figures and dolls to stores, parks, and even the hospital just to take some off the wall pictures. my husband doesn't try to stop me, he just opts not to stand near me when i do. heck, he doesn't like 1:6 dolls, but i caught him tucking serena into her bed the other night! he is sooooo hooked and doesn't even know it! LOL!

"converting" people isn't something that happens overnight or by standing out and preaching the wonders of something. it takes time and an open mind. frankly, i don't think that we would love our bjds anywhere near as much if they were a common item. yes, it would be nice to have more acceptance, but converting everyone to bjd owners would be a bit much.

    8. Well, well, well. Leigh, it looks like we can sort of technically say there's four of us in Kentucky now. WHOOT!!

    9. Three and 3/4. ;) I'm a part-time TN-an.

    10. Are all of "y'all" in KY? O.o Where at???

We can start a BJD cult!!! :D

(Oh, and Hitasura-sama- I used your beautiful Vikas and Shikai to win over my parents. Muaha!)

    11. Mm, if you're in Louisville, you're a little far, so it'd be a long-distance KY bjd cult. I'm over here by Lexington.

On a more on-topic note, I think my mom would convert if they didn't cost so much. :P We're po' folk.

    12. Nyah, I'm in Louisville, but my grandparents live in Lexington, so I feel ya. :)

      On topic-
My mom's not very into dolls, but she thought Mir was cute.

I would be in the same "nooo monaaay" boat as you guys but... As soon as I showed mom Mir, she was like, "Okay. She'll make a nice Big Christmas Gift. :)" And ordered her. So I didn't struggle with laboriously earning the money as you all did.

But I'm hoping to get a Job at Ben Franklin over the Summer so I can get a boy!! And maybe... maybe even a LUTS. O.O (Those are like, way out of my reach.) And they can be a big brother to My little Odette. :D

    13. My mother was an easy convert. I showed her a picture of Nono and Sakura initially, when I was first getting interested, and she said "go for it". After Nono arrived, she contemplated a Myu, and eventually gave in. She now has five of her own.

    14. That's so cute that your mom has 5! How adorable!!

My mom's not very into dolls or sewing or crafts, so she probably wouldn't be very interested. x3 She mostly likes to see me making stuff instead of doing it herself. xD

    15. My Mom loves crafts and stuff (her workshop is AWESOME!!!) but I doubt she'd ever be into dolls... She never really played Barbies with me when I was little and REALLY doesn't understand my addiction to toys... It's so cool your mom likes BJDs!!!!

    16. O_O Wow, we live in New Albany, right across the river! Not technically KY but rather Kentuckiana.. XD (ignore the fact it says Canada)

*ahem* I don't have a BJD... yet  but I think I can relate when I wear gothic and lolita clothing out in a public place. You have the strange looks, you have the nay sayers, and then a few people who are actually interested! Though just like BJDs, when I tell them the price of a dress they freak out a little. o.o Though I definitely don't snoot my nose up at them if they ask, I just tell them politely its a Japanese thing. Usually they think that is cool enough to go on. ^o^

    17. Hurray for New Albany! We're having an event over the river soon. I don't get over there very often. And "Kentuckiana" is so weird. It sounds so normal to us but it's kinda odd...

I only talk about price if the people reaaaally wanna know. (Even though I haven't got Odette yet, I have a picture in my locker of her. )

    18. Bwaha, I've done that. xD Stapler named Stanley Bostich, hole puncher named Kuro, finger puppet named Biskwik, laptop named Sunao and desktop PC named Hikare [I stole her name >_>;]

When I was debating between getting a Xiao or Jerome, two friends I whined to thought they were pretty (and that they were girls. X_x). My parents are just confused. It's very hard to explain just why one would want to spend hundreds of dollars on a (GORGEY) hunk of plastic.

    19. ;___; Can I come live with yooou? I'm ALL ALONE UP HERE.

    20. I wish my mom was as enthusiastic as some of your mothers are! My mom was never very into dolls-- she says the only dolls she liked were trolls XD Her Barbie remained pretty much unplayed with. But she is a sewer which is nice. So far I've drawn out some patterns for her and she's sewn them for me. She herself is not very artistic, or very good at drawing/designing things-- more mathematical I think. I would sew them myself but my hands are a little shaky from medicines right now. I haven't really introduced my doll to anyone else or taken her anywhere. My dad commented on her complicated joints, I think he was impressed but I didn't tell him how much she cost ^_~ When my sister first saw her she said "Wow your doll is ugly!!" But I think she likes her anyways. :)
