1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Converting and introducing people to dolls

Dec 11, 2004

    1. Well, a random guy I went to high school with who I see occasionally on the bus expressed an interest in TYalon. Then he asked for the price...blinked..shrugged...and asked more and more and more....including websites and if I could help him if he decided to get one. Then he confessed "I think I've fallen in love with your doll" while holding Talon...

At which point I said "You wouldn't say that if you'd looked down his pants."

And he freaked, mildly, but still freaked. And gave Talon these weird little "Does it really count as questioning my sexual orientation if it's a doll?" looks out of the corner of his eye the ENTIRE rest of the bus ride.

      So, we shall see.

Oh, and my little sister. I'm getting her one for her birthday. She's all excited about it.

    2. Since the Dragon, my beloved husband, hooked me on the whole Japanese dolls thing by showing me Azone 1/6 dolls on HLJ and then getting me one, from which I have expanded my interest to include SDs.... I thought it was a glorious kind of poetic justice when he fell in love with DD Sirius so much so that he bought her....! :blush :wiggle

    3. I made my Mother and my aunt buy a bjd MUAHAHAHAHA I feel so evil :roar

    4. I have two friends saving up for dolls, one for El or Lune and the other for Clara. :D

    5. I have made two friends doll crazy

with one of them I'm going to buy the dod tender Too& Bee-a set(I want Bee-a and she wants too)

      the other one....
well first she just wanted to buy a doll to make into a mini Eric Griffin(I believe he is a gitarist) she tought it was interesting that most(all?) male bjd's have manly bits
      and later......
      some quotes:
"I want to touch his chest, hold his hand, kiss his hair"
      "I'm totally in love"

and she was talking about dod Hoo, and she's planning on buying him when she has enough money

and some other friends just love looking at dolls ;)

    6. I got one of my best friends totally into this XD She's looking at BF Jerome, DoD Hoo or Si right now while she's saving... She's my kids' "aunt" and I'm looking very forward to having a nephew :D

As others have mentioned, it's really great to be able to share this really absorbing hobby with someone close ^^ (Though she has accused me of being way too contagious... ;) )

    7. Friends are good for causing addictions :) If it wasn't for a friend of mine and her very lovely Boy, I wouldn't be here now, most likely.

She hooked me on the whole dressing-up idea. I'm a costumer, and it's cheaper to dress up a doll than to dress up a human (and in some cases, easier!). So now, here I am, staring at pictures and sighing in lament as I start the scraping of the pennies.

    8. I have gotten one of my friend's hooked when I showed her the DOD and Luts website. Now that is all we have been talking about lately and she is very excited to see Leya and Zen when they come. ^^
I also have gotten my twin kind interested in them, she thinks that they are too expensive, but she also thinks that some are very pretty.

Two of my friends were the ones that got me interested in BJDs. ^^

    9. I showed them to Crou shortly after I learned about them and we ordered our first bjds together. Then another friend of mine found pictures of two f-28s dressed as gackt and hyde (hide...heck I don't know, I don't really know much about these guys!), and she kept asking me about them. What they were, if they were like Bael, and so on. Now I'm sad she was so discouraged by the price of a full custom, but I told her it's really worth it. She comes from a family that's not so good with money, but I told her I'd be willing to help her out if she really wanted one.

Now I just have to give her that extra copy of the Jan. Haute Doll with all those gorgeous dolls in it. If she wasn't hooked before, she will be soon...

    10. I got infected too^^-..now I´m spreading the virus (evil laughs: hee hee)

    11. Oh my goodness. After weeks of being subject to the relentless onslaught of pictures of G on my journal and site, one of my LJ friends is convinced she needs a BJD and just bought Yder! Her first! :o

So~ excited for her. :daisy  :daisy

    12. I have at LEAST three toasters to my name. Mwahahahahaha~! *evil*

    13. Hehee, I always talk about dolls to my friend wes, who isn't particularly interested in them, but then recently, I think he's totally falling into what we know best as "dolly love" ;] saying things like, "with my current pay, I could totally afford one" and asking me where to buy them etc.
I love the thought of spreading the dolly love!
Plus, if I lived with him in the future or something, we could be like Paul & Laura and have all our dolls and toys and it would be like overloaddddddd (but in a good way).

    14. I dragged PherretLord into this, which is nice, because we can do doll stuff together all the time, like today when we were shopping. But it is also very _bad_ because now we're trying to plan saving/purchasing schedules for EIGHT dolls instead of four. (Good thing PherretLord doesn't mind getting just heads right now... )

Now, if only I can get my brother into this, I'll feel really content.

    15. My best friend refuses to allow me to show her any dolls, or talk about them too much, because shes about to do her Leaving Cert (very very important exams here, getting into college depends entirely on your results) and shes scared she'll fall in love and get distracted X3 but as soon as shes done with the exams and gets a job Im getting her hooked!

    16. I haven't actually hooked anyone myself but...when I was at ACen in May, my friend and I had been seeing random BJDs all day in their owners' arms or just simply sitting on the floor or a window ledge taking a break form the convention excitement. Now, I never was into dolls as a kid. I had a few Barbie's but it was always the horses and the dogs that got the most attention, yet there was something about these dolls at the convention that was intriguing and alluring, something otherworldly almost. So near the end of the day, I had to stop some random bypassers carrying their BJDs with them and find out just what exactly these dolls were. They told me to look up denofangels.com for more information and they also told me that the smaller ones were about $400 and the big ones $600.

Well, that's a lot of money for a doll, I thought then. But I scribbled down the address of the site anyway while telling my friend (who was just as interested in them as I was) that I wasn't planning on buying any, I just wanted to look. Ha...famous last words. I got to meet and educate myself on all the dolls at DoA and then some irrepressible urge came over me and I was driven to find as much information about them across the net as possible. It's really quite an addiction and I'm now saving up for a Tsukasa Konoe who's quite a bit more money than the $600 amount I was first told about. More than double actually, though I'm still determined to have him. Funny really, since in the beginning the $600 amount chased away any thoughts of actually owning one of these dolls. I still don't know just what in my mind justifies spending over $1000 on a doll, especially since I was never a doll person to begin with. Perhaps it's the fact that they're not just dolls, a fact that I kept emphasizing when I first told my mom about them. Or perhaps it really is some mysterious, otherworldly quality they possess that leaves us common mortals hoplessly hooked...

    17. Only ones I've ever seen are pictures. I have shown some friends, but haven't gotten anyone hooked.

    18. Heather, you are like an angel from heaven to get him hooked on BJDs! :D
(I am also a guy.. of course I would be happy..) :chibi
      XD

    19. I did not see any threat like this so... uhm o_o *speaking nervously, blushing* @____@; Do what ever you want if that threat was misplaced~ T___T;;
ok, well.... I have two friends and they want a BJD sooooo bad, it's breaking my heart...
Have you ever been through something like that? I'd be happy to hear about your experiences. How could I help my friends?

    20. I've been obsessed with BJD's since September now, and about DEcember, my best friend of Seven years fell in love with Camine. So, I am trading my Elf Yder for a Camine, and giving it to her as a surprise. <3
