1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Converting and introducing people to dolls

Dec 11, 2004

    1. I got a couple friends into BJD's. One of them has one now and plans to get another soon. One of the friends, the one who's wanted a BF Tommy for over a year now is not close at all to getting him. I know she could have him soon if she wanted to, but she spends money on video games and things even though she says how much she wants him. I'd help her get him, but I feel like she could get him if she really wanted to, plus I'm short on money now myself!
      Totally OT, but Arafel, you're in the east coast too? You should come to one of our meetups sometime! :D

    2. Arafel: Yay~ That was fast, congrats! :aheartbea: I ordered mine at Valentines day and she is not shipped out, yet... *cough* @_@ But I hope that yours will home soon, so I could mabe look at the pictures of her >w>

      Juless231: I think, if my friends would spend a lot of money on other things, I wouldn't be very interested in helping theme, so I can understand you, I'm very strict withe those things and I think that it's nice that you would help her. My friends are even saving their meal allowance and I think that's a little... too much, so I wanna help them.

    3. I'm so OT......

      jules - hehe, I'm in PEI too! Actually, someone else pm'd me just today to tell me about the thread for Maritime meets up, so I posted there :) I meet up would be so awesome....
      Where in PEI are you, if you don't mind me asking? I'm in Summerside myself :)

      Puppenspiel - Aww... I'm sure your Soo will ship soon then! *crosses fingers for you* I'll be sure to spam the gallery with pictures when she gets here. There aren't near enough Soos on this forum!

    4. That's exactly what I think :whee: And thank you =D YAY FPR SOOs O_O

    5. I, in one fell swoop, aided only by Treya (Soah) and Imbri (MNF Lishe) and another's Happy Doll Dorothy , have enabled FOUR, count 'em 4 adults :hamster: into the evils...err...JOYS of BJD's. Marvel at me :aeyepop: ...worship me :abow: . I am ALL POWERFUL...MWHAHAHAHAHA

      Available for wedding receptions and other events.

    6. Congratualtions! Two more and you get a free toaster oven!

    7. YES! I'm actually going for that spiffy Toaster Oven though!

    8. *bows to the all powerful Talis* So far I've only converted one adult, you are by far superior when it comes to the powers of conversion! (if that made any sense at all)

    9. *bows before your awesome power*

    10. I was getting some fabric yesterday and... a lady tried to steal my hikun. >_>;; Well, I put him on the table next to me to put something in my bag. And she picked him and started playing with him. My friend was like 'Uhh.. hikun... hikun...' and I shouted 'THAT'S MY DOLL'. XD It was kinda funny really. Uh. Kinda. o_o;;

      She thought he was for sale and kept talking about how beautiful he was and stroking him. o_o;; She asked where I got him from and loads of stuff so.. yeah. I gave her URLS. She went off.. all starry-eyed. So.. yeah. CONVERTED. XDD;;

    11. Corpse and Devin have enabled two people locally now, Lady_Deat and Styan are their converts :)

    12. I'm a bit confused...I've never replied to this thread, yet a post I made is in here. An entire post replies and all. Why did that happen? No offense to this fine post, but I had my own post. Is it common for posts to be merged with others like this? I might have liked to have known that. :evil:

    13. Talis- The mods do keep saying they merge threads that are similar...you must have been unlucky and missed that... try to reread the announcements subforum as often as possible, otherwise stuff does get confusing!

      back on topic- I don't really like the thought of alot of people having BJDs...if it goes anymore mainstream I think we are in danger of losing quality.

      I've only ever seen two people's dolls IRL- Demondolfie's and my own. Cambridge is a bit dry for BJD... But my Cantonese friend is getting interested in them..I will convert him yet hehe..

      I understand the thing about wanting people to experience things you enjoy...it's like kids that turn up the volume on their walkmans really high

    14. Even though Bailey llived close by me, I had never seen a BJD before either. All I had was pictures to go by before I even got to hold one.

    15. My mom thinks im pretty crazy cause im getting my Special Tae(ordering next week) just becuase of the price. Im a convert i saw them for hte first time in october at Reactor 05 and fell in love with them. I think my mom will convert once she gets to see my special tae in person. My boyfriend also thinks im crazy, but hes supportive of the whole thing. I think i might manage to convert him to liking them also.

    16. my friends and co-workers are iffy... but i have doll--owning friends too that help (make me buy more) it's fun to take dolls out because you never know when you'll meet another doll owner or get someone commenting... sometimes it's fun to explain stuff ^^;;

    17. I didn't see another doll in person until a few months after I had already gotten mine XD

    18. doesn't it kinda ruin the surprise if you see another doll before your own comes...hehe

      I don't think I could ever buy a doll that I'd already seen in person, just would feel mine wasn't as nice as theirs...

      I suppose having a lot of other people's dolls around you saves money! I love Chiwoos, but demondolfie's Hyde is so lovely, I just like to look at him, I don't need to buy one XD

    19. Yeah. e.e;;
      My best friend fell inlove with Model Doll Ipsae Monahan.
      Despite the size, the price is... alot for her to pay right now, her grandmother has cancer and is in the hospital; it's a really depressing time for her.
      I'm trying to get my boss to contract her so that she doesn't have to be asking her mom for money; her mom being the one paying for the hospital and medications and such.

    20. Haha, I was the friend who got suckered into BJDs XD Now me 'n Ferret seem to have a lot of joint projects ahead - Boe being first and foremost XD But there's some talk about a Blue Fairy thing, as well.

      I have another friend who likes BJDs, but shudders at the cost. I'd be afraid of insulting her by offering to help pay for one >__> But if she ever expressed serious interest, I'd be first in line to help her out.
