1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. Well, I swore up and down that one I got my Sofia (Jun Planning Ai baby) that I wasn't going to get one of the big expensive dolls... the idea of spending so much money on a doll was completely rediculous at the time...

Then I realized how cool it was to have her... and found Bobobie Apollo online... and now I have a 60cm male Bobobie in the production process and soon to be shipped to me from Hong Kong...

Can you have just one doll... no... no... you must have more than one if the money is available. Tee hee.

    2. I don't think I could choose. There are three of my dolls that it would be very hard to part with (seitenshi, Mika, Thor and my Ui vampire), and there are a few that I could probably let go if I had to.

Thankfully I don't have to worry about it. ^^

      I don't think I could ever just own ONE doll. There are still a couple more that I really want, and I'd find it too hard to part with any I own to get new ones. ^^;

    3. With the cost of the dolls I would have assumed that I would only ever get one because, to be honest, I just woulnd't be able to afford it. However, I got another immediatly after and I think it's good for both me and my other doll. She is not alone when I'm at work. My girls get on brilliantly so I know it was a wise idea to get more than one :)

    4. No, definetely. I bought my first doll, considering that one day I get a pair for him. It is just a matter of time (and money )). What I don't know is whether I'll stop here, or continue buying new dolls because I liked the sculpt or I wanted to try and make something special of it.

    5. I SO wanted to have just one BJD! At first I didn't even want to buy one since most of them are that expensive. But during my time in Tokyo I visited all the Volks stores and I was like "I NEED!" xD So I bought Shima, part by part. One month I bought the head and some tools, MSC, acrylics... The next month I was finally able to buy her a body! Than, everytime I could afford it, I bought some clothes, shoes, ordered a wig and so on. After a while I thought that it would be nice if she wouldn't be alone anymore. And now I have 4 BJDs and 3 more on my wishlist... :sweat

If I really HAD to decide... I would keep Shima, my Volks DDII. She was my first doll, I customized and modded her, she spent 6 months with me alone. I think, she's my most precious doll, I bounded with her the most. But actually I wouldn't really want to part with any of my dolls, I love them all a lot! :D

    6. I already know I won't own just one.
Once I get started, I can get very caught up in these things...

    7. No. I am awaiting my first doll, but I know that she will not be the only one. I want more and more I shall get ;)

    8. Okay so I still am saving for my first (a Limhwa Luna), but now I want more too. I recently discovered BJDs and thought I would find ONE that I liked and that would be it. But oh no, since I've been on DOA looking at what everyone has done with theirs and the fact that there are so many new dolls and companies popping up as fast as one can say "ball jointed dolls" I must have more than one, more than two and oh yes more than three. I just must have them!

    9. I thought I was okay with only one, but I proved myself wrong seeing as my second one is on the way... but I'm looking into a third one now... *_*

    10. I'm only 14 so having more than one would be extremely difficult...but I can't help but look at more! :(
      It's like an addiction!
But if I ever got a second one, I'd probably stick with my first, just because I worked hard for him and he's the most special to me

    11. When I first came into the hobby... I only wanted one. I already have two now, with three on the way, one on layaway... One disembodied head... The list goes on. ^^ I don't think I could ever have just one. I have too many characters to have just one. :)

    12. I also thought that it would be just one doll what I let myself buy, but now after a year I have a second coming home. And I can promise it won't be the last, even though I don't probably buy another before christmas. I need some time for bonding with the new one. :)

    13. Actually that's a really good question, I think the answer for me would have to be a yes. Since I recieved my boy I have no thought or even looked at other dolls consider purchasing them at all because he really at this point in time seems to be all I need for me to be content. He's sort of like a little bit of perfection in one doll and others just don't keep my interest like he does and because he's already here, I guess I'm good. :D

    14. I think I know myself a little too well and I never told myself "just one." From the moment I ordered Cera I knew there would have to be a second. ^^ Now Dizzy's finally on her way, she'll be dolly number two. I probably wont be getting another until after college, but I know there are many more to come. I don't think I could ever have just one now. :]

    15. No. My first BJD purchase were IH Tania & Tatiana together. As soon as I saw them I realised that they were the one for me (e.g. like twins or sisters who are very close) and that's why they can't be separated.

    16. I fell in love with Vyolet (Soo Dark Elf) the moment I saw her. I surfed all of the sites, Luts, Leekeworld, Volks, not knowing which one was mine.
I came across Soo Angel Elf and found her beautiful. But when I saw Vyolet it was all over.
I now have the money to buy a Soo Angel Elf. I always knew that if I had the chance I would buy her. But the last couple of days I feel like I am somehow doing Vyolet a disservice.
I know that a lot of owners have more than one doll, did you feel torn when buying a second doll? Did you feel like you were somehow making a judegment that the one you had was somehow now less in your eyes? That they are not quite as shiny as when they first arrived?

Also, do the two dolls look identical? I think they look totally different but the people I know who aren't into Dolls think they are identical.

    17. Umm... but you need to have at least two dolls cause the first one will be sad with no friend, hmm?

      Better?;)

    18. I have a lot of dolls, and I love all of them. My first doll is still very special to me--some people prefer to stick to just one doll, but many over time end up with more than one. It's pretty common.

    19. i have many dolls. and two of them are delf soo
one is a dark elf soo and a regular soo and they are different but have similarities. i would check the database to be sure:thumbup

    20. Because now they can be sisters and dress up together and play together. And Vyolet won't be lonely now!
