It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. No. I am afraid I am very greedy and hooked.

    2. I used to think I'd only be getting one, maybe two at the most. Right now I have one full doll and a doll head, but I plan on getting a body for the head, and there's three other dolls I'm seriously considering buying. XD

    3. Well, I know before I was only thinking about one.... Maybe two and three....

      Yeah.

That's out the window. I have two (as soon as my DZ Mo gets here), and several more that I now desire also, so even my late limit of ONLY THREE DOLLS has crashed and burned and died a horrible firey death. XD

My OCD collecting is kicking in. I have no idea where I am going to PUT all these dolls, but since my dog doesn't seem inclined to chew, she just wants to sniff and lick them like she does me, I don't think storing them on shelves near the ground will be a problem. Ahhh, I want my DZ Mo, and then a Hid, and then a DoD DoC Si, and then... Then...

Yeah, no, one doll obviously didn't work out. XD

    4. Nope. I doubt I could. I guess if I only ever had one, I could live with one, but not now...since I know the love of more than one x-x

    5. I held off buying ANY for a long time, to make sure it wasn't just a passing fancy... but before the first one has even arrived I have already planned at least two others I would like to have!

I can see my ultimate aim being 5, and taking a few years to get to that number :)

Fortunately for me in the last two or three years of pouring over various BJD sites and countless Flikr pages, I am loyal to only Yellow line Lati and you'd *think* therefore that would keep a limit on how many I possibly could want... we'll see! :D

If your question was 'if money was no object' I am sure we'd all have hundreds!

    6. if i really, really, really wanted I think i could.. but because it can it's to easy to get more.. i thought i would stick with just one.. but got 4 now..:o and maybe more comming.. :?

    7. I deliberately put off buying BJDs but my resolve broke when I saw the uber cute LittleFee Shiwoo. And now, a few days before my Shiwoo arrives, I ordered Soom's Glati. I have 2-3 more BJDs I intend to buy. Gah.

    8. I know I'll never stick with just the one I have, but I don't think I'll ever have more then 5.

      Famous last words much? :sweat

    9. Something I noticed is that when people have many dolls, they are often then selling as they get newer ones.

I think there is some desire to 'perfect' your collection and have an ideal set of dolls.

    10. I'm already scrimping and saving for a male companion for Persephone, and possibly one more Pullip, but I don't know.@@ I just know that it doesn't seem right to only have one. Poor girl will be lonely! ;_;

    11. I really think it's impossible to have just one. I used to think you could but not anymore :) I'm currently saving up for my first, a Volks Suigintou, and she was going to be my only one. But then I started thinking, being a really picky collector and the fact that she's an established character, I'm not going to really redress her or swap out eyes, wigs etc. things that make BJDs so awesome. So now I would need a second doll to "play" with. I decided on getting a Volks Miruku after my first doll. She's so beautiful and I adore her pale white skintone! So yeah, I don't even have one and I've already decided on two ^_^

    12. Maybe..
I mean I often think of selling all my boys and buying one, and developing that specific character for that doll and keeping and spoiling him~

I'd probably be content if I had an 05 Breakaway. :D

But Other than that, I don't know.. I'd probably end up buying more. xD

    13. At first, I wanted two dolls, a boy and a girl. I really wanted to get the boy first, but at the time there were very few options and they were all very expensive. I couldn't find one that I loved enough to pay such a price for. As for a girl, I utterly loved the SD13 Megu. This was at the time when she was still available for direct order from Volks, so I started saving up. One month before my birthday when I would have had all the funds I needed to get her, she was discontinued. I cried. :(

Then, while browsing the Volks website, I saw the dollfie dreams and really fell in love with one of their models. I found out she was the option 02 head with open eyes. I found a doll store in Florida that carried volks dolls and ordered her. She was and is my first doll, and I love her to bits. I thought I'd never need another doll at that point.

Then I found an SD13 Megu head for sale. She was my first love, really, and I had to have her. She recently arrived and claimed my dream girl's body, making me both happy and sad. Happy that I have her as a completed doll, but sad at "losing" my dream girl. The SD13 has such a different look and personality, they're not even remotely comparable.. which made me realize that they would need seperate bodies.

So, there I was, looking for a body for my new girl when I stumbled upon the ResinSoul website. I saw their boy doll, Long, and died. Just died. He's so perfect, and completely within my price range, that I might just get two.

So there you have it. I went from wanting two to being content with one to needing four. So to answer your question, no, I don't think I could ever have just one, even though I technically do right now and I am very happy with her.

I guess it's true what they say, one good doll deserves another? :sweat

    14. When I first started looking into BJDs, I, like many others, thought I would only end up with one, especially because of the price. I found the one that made my heart stop after looking and looking. So I saved and saved for him. While I was saving, I started looking around, just in case I found someone I liked more (which didn't happen). I was working out what the doll's character would be and realized that he needed someone else, that he really couldn't be alone, and then I came across the MNF Shiwoo. So he was added to my list and I thought I was done.
So, I'm sitting in the car during my visit back home, just daydreaming, and started to play with the idea of a girl doll. Now, I'm not one for most girl dolls, since I don't care much for the usual sweet or innocent look you find them with, but I went looking anyway after thinking about what kind of character she might be and, wouldn't you know it, I found the one I wanted and knew would be perfect (well, two at the time, but I have managed to get it down to the one).
So now I'm up to 3.
And I keep finding dolls that I want xD BUT, when I seriously ask myself if I would buy them, I end up saying no. So, who knows, maybe I will just stick with those 3.
But don't hold me to that. There are a few that linger on my wishlist and taunt me.
I'm content with my one boy right now and don't plan on getting another for a little while :3

    15. No.

      The end.

I originally thought I could just have one doll and spoil it tons, but there are just too many cute sculpts, and now I have one doll with a wardrobe big enough to clothe six. :sweat I might as well buy more dolls to put the clothes on!

    16. I was lucky enough to be able to save enough to bring Razidae home. Almost 9 months later and he's still the only one. I admire lots and lots of dolls but not having a lot of spare money strengthens by already pretty strong self control. Having one doll is acceptable but I don't think I can justify another doll to my conscious unless I have more than enough saved up and that would take a year or more at least. So although I would love to own another doll, especially an SD sized one that I can make jewelry for, it'll be only Razi and me for a while more. :)

    17. At first I tried to find the perfect one for me... I like having one of something, just because it makes things uncluttered and nice...

buuuut that didn't last long. I keep falling in love with more and more sculpts...

    18. Never never never!

    19. I originally only wanted the one doll, then I stupidly checked out some other BJD websites. Now I can think of three or four more that I want, not including the two that I just ordered.
My bank account hates me :(

    20. I don't have a doll yet. I'm half way done saving to buy him, but I think I couldn't keep just one. I think I will buy another. But as far as more than 2 then I don't know. I like them, but I don't know if I will be like my friend who must keep buying more dolls.

But acquiring a second doll will probably not happen for a long time, as there are more important things I must use that money for.

Though I think it is impossible to own only one. My sister hasn't owned hers for a year yet and she wants another!
